This must be one of the most underrated pieces of Psychedelia of 1967, about as 1967 as you can get. A beautiful ethereal piece of music. Yet it obviously didn't stand a chance of getting anywhere, as it was not single material. But it was at a time when new Psychedelic bands were risking these daring new styles for single releases, rather than sticking to the more obvious commercial style format. But for these sort of singles to chart, they also had to have a commercial sound, like Excerpt From A Teenage Opera. But I think this had a touch of Love Is All Around in it. But it may have been the other way round, depending on which came out first. But these sort of sounds and effects are just not created anymore.

The year 1967 was the zenith of musical creativity.
This has been one of my all time fave popsike songs, right up there with Liquid Blue, Goodbye thimble mill lane, anything John Pantry had his hands in, Beeside, In your Tower, fox goes to ground, The Californians(Cooks of Cakes and Kindness)...somebody stop me.....Love that expansive and fresh music scene of mid to late 60's ~Peace~
Look into 60's psych comps. Rubbles, Circus Days, Paisley-pop, Electric sugarcube flashbacks, etc. there are a f*-ton of reissues and comps that are just stellar.If you like this sound, the UK and Euro 60's music is so much better and way more mature(for the most part) and all-round more musically refined than yer average american garage band at the time. Look for key words like Pop Sike and Freak Beat. ~Peace~

Very "Love Is All Around"-ish, with the strings darn near note for note. Most cool, though. Hypnotic, and ,as someone already said, pure early '67.
A stumbled on the 45 of this many decades ago in the close-out racks of a little record shop. Always liked this track.

We have to thank george harrison for taking up the sitar in 1965, he loved ravi shankar, and introduced sitar to british pop records.
Sadly, they joined up with this where-are-they-now brigade.
