I have a problem, can you help me ? When I use a Ethernet to USB-C to my android, it kick me out of Wi-Fi. The questions is: How can I use a connection Ethernet with a static IP, login into an APP, and keeping my internet connection ? I'm using a Samsung Galaxy S8 and the phone does not have the Mobile data only apps options.

I've never been able to get Ethernet and WiFi to work at the same time - unless it's Ethernet for Internet and WiFi for a hotspot.

@@John-qc1zv In Windows, you can have multiple network connections. In Android, I believe the default is to turn off WiFi once Ethernet is plugged in. I'm sure there's a way around it, but I don't know how crazy one must get to make it work.

Most claim they're pointless, but at work they have great use.
I work at McDonalds and we use them on our iPads for our UberEats and Table tracker iPads.
Often the WiFi in the restaurant goes down due to congestion or low temperatures in the server room (Northern Canada, -35c regularly here) and the LAN always works no matter what.
Without this our UberEats and Table service just wouldn't work 1/2 of the time!

  • @xc8487

Most health studies regarding wifi or 5G are questionable as the stats can be compiled to show any outcome. The real and most legitimate reason to use ethernet is wifi's and cell signal's lack of privacy and vulnerability to data interception.

It was plug and play, it did come up asking for all sorts of info, like IP address, DNS name etc., but I noticed that the Ethernet icon was showing on the top, tried to go to a website, and voila! I'm so happy because since the last Windows update my HP laptop has stopped working with the Ethernet adapters and I get very poor WiFi signals, which works only occasionally (when the wind is blowing in the right direction, today it's not, so I'm now on my tablet 🙄) TFS 👍❤

Interesting video, Scottie! As always, I enjoy the videos and keep making them!
I hate to ask a question like this but my ISP techs aren’t the greatest at configuring issues and I’ve searched a lot about this issue and can’t find a solution.
I turn my devices all off at the end of the night. When my gf gets up in the morning before me, she turns on her phone and it finds the router but doesn’t want to transfer any data, so she has to reset the router and then it works. I wake up an hour or two later and turn on my phone and it done the same thing, but it also makes every device in the house lose connection until we reset. This started happening when our ISP swapped our modem/router. We have a dual band router off their modem/router and the ISP turned off WiFi on their modem/router. It’s not a serious issue but it’s annoying to have to reset the router 2-3 times daily. I don’t know much but I’m thinking this has to do with my dual band router recognizing a new IP after it disconnects for a certain period of time. I hate to blame the isp’s router but it started happening after they put a new one in. We’ve had the same dual band for years so nothing there has changed.
If you don’t want to help, I understand. If anyone else wants to chime in, please do!
Thanks for the great videos, Scottie! Keep up the great work!

I've never seen anything like that, but it would be pretty cool. POE provides ~12W or so to devices, so it would certainly be enough to charge a gizmo pretty quickly. The dongle would need to pass the power thru to the USB port. Normal dongles CAN be used with a POE switch/device, because POE is negotiated when devices are connected together - so you shouldn't fry your dongle if using a POE switch.

What I'm kind of understanding, which is complicated haha- is that USB tethering makes use of one cable adapter whereas Ethernet tethering makes use of a dongle adapter and an Ethernet cable. That's a good question, but I'm afraid I don't know the exact answer. Since your phone appears to have a USB3 type C connector, it can easily support 1Gbps download speeds over either USB or Ethernet. The faster connection would depend on the exact implementation of USB vs Ethernet tethering. My guess is they'd both be the same speed, but latency might be a bit higher for one or the other. Hard to say!

It depends on the gizmo AND on the USB-Ethernet adapter. Some adapters (like fancy ones with multiple USB ports + HDMI + Ethernet) will allow you to use all the ports and charge the tablet/phone at the same time. Others, no. If i crack open the back case and remove the wifi chip would ethernet still work? Does ethernet have its own chip?

    Thanks

    • @ScottiesTech
      @ScottiesTech  ปีที่แล้ว +1

You can try, but most likely:
      1. WiFi is not an easily-removable dedicated component
      2. Even if it is, removing it is usually not easy
      3. Removing it may cause issues, like some phones/tablets require WiFi to be on in order for Ethernet to work at all (don't ask me)
As for which models support ethernet, it's a toss-up - but in general, Amazon devices are a no-go with Ethernet, Samsung is usually quite friendly, Xiaomi usually works if it's a USB-C port, etc. Trouble is, it's by device and sometimes even a big Android/UI update can screw it up. So, that's why I say Google it, cuz it even changes every now and then. That's for older devices... But nowadays, the majority of devices with USB-C ports that I've tried seem to support most of the adapters out there - except Amazon gizmos!

These can damage your DNA by knocking electrons out of the base molecules, leading to tumors and cancer.
