This video was helpful! I do have one concern regarding updating my iPhone. I currently own the 11 and I’ve been hearing that updating it can also cause massive battery drainage and my maximum capacity has already went from 100% from 92% within a span of 5 months since buying the phone. After doing everything from the video, would updating the iOS also cause my battery’s maximum capacity to drain even more? Just out of curiosity.
Great tips again guys, but I agree a little too fast to update on this end as you were explaining where items were, I know just hit pause. In background app refresh, you don’t have to have any on. The messaging apps will still get messages just fine. And you can disable parallax effect just by going to set a new wallpaper and the small button on the bottom

If you turn off location for all those system services it will effect things like night shift and automatic dark mode. I listened to you on that and it took some doing to figure out what happened.
Honestly, I have an iPhone 11 now that I’ve had since Christmas. My old iPhone 6s Plus that I’ve had since 2017 have had somewhat a dead battery, but it’d last about a little more than half a day. My iPhone 11 barely can hang on for like 2 to 3 hours, so I feel like I’d need my old phone back. I haven’t played it on charge in any type of way, because I feel like this would happen. My battery drainer pretty fast and I’ve updated it a lot, and it’s at 93 for some reason. Since I watched this vid and did mostly everything in it, my battery has hung on even longer now. Tysm ^^
Battery optimization don’t work if people follow some of the advice given on settings to turn off to save battery life videos. System customization and significant locations needs to stay on.
Instead of using that Don’t charge your phone overnight Because it stays at 100 percent longer which heats up your battery This will degrade your battery over time
@@tahmidabdin4625 that’s just not true. The point of it is to let your battery rest overnight and minimize the time it spends at 100%. Phones nowadays are smart and don’t actually run current through the battery once it reaches 100%. Simply touch your phone while it’s charging at 100% and you will see it doesn’t get hot whatsoever.
I mean... I just came here to learn how to conserve my new iphone 13's battery life. Not a tech fan, follower or anything. But you guys are so cute, followed ! Thank you for the video :)
By the way, swipe to close apps will actualyl kill your battery life. Having you apps open uses less RAM when you want to repoen them. While closing them every time you're done with the app and reopening it after 5 mins, it uses more RAM which means more battery power. Apple even recommends not closing/killing apps.
@@RiusII401 it’s simple trade off between killing not so frequent apps and keeping frequent apps on. For me I barely use maps in my city so no need to keep it on, will be using locations even if not needed. But something like social media apps should be kept on, as I will be checking those in few hours.
@@sajalpandey9364 Makes sense. But there is a setting in Apple where you can turn on locations only while using the app. Also, switching off "Background App Refresh" will improve a lot of battery
Amazing results on 12 mini. Thanks for these tips. An additional tip is to create a shortcut on home screen to turn on/off location services. I keep it off all the time, and it's a simple press of a button to turn it on when going out.
Reduce White point is a great battery saver. I would add to that by checking it in the Accessibility Shortcut and adding Accessibility Shortcut to Control Center. Nothing worse than having low white point then walking outside on a sunny day.
Even with blondie. I subscribed and watched and paused a bunch of times and changed my settings. We’ll worth my time. Great job. I’ll fix up my wife’s phone too. Thanks guys.
it’s fine now after i let it drain entirely. now that you i’ve found, i don’t get upset about it. once, my screen went black, and someone else blaming herself, instantly took it to Apple store, whereupon they immediately said, ‘dead battery’ no testing, just sold her a new one. 🤦🏻♀️ so, even though i was upset (because i can’t get around right now->my spine is not so good), i am more relaxed. thank you❤️
Thank you very much, I did this now for my iPhone XS, I got last year new battery and I will get a new one just because it is still in the under warranty. Just because Apple didn`t make this settings (like you) when the phone was new. I have now battery 87%. I will save this video and I`ll update this way every my iPhone. You guys are awesome but forgot to mention that some of these services effect optimised battery charging I know it’s stupid but I mean it’s apple ot probably takes them ages to change it . Here are the settings you need to have active: 1.Settings > Privacy > Location Services > Location Services. 2.Settings > Privacy > Location Services > System Services > System Customisation. 3.Settings > Privacy > Location Services > System Services > Significant Locations > Significant Locations.
That actually really helped, I got a new iPhone and the battery was about the same as the old one until I did most of these. Now the battery life is impressive!

Hey guys! Thank you so much for your help! Your videos are the ONLY “iPhone tip” videos that I watch. I trust your advice and will continue to follow you wherever you go! 😊 I had watched a previous video about increasing battery life that you covered (probably a year or so ago) and almost everything you guys talked about today I already had in place! So I was doing most the “good things” already! I felt so smart! (No one has to know I copied each one of your tips word for word, right? 😂) My battery dies mainly because I am just like a teenager, my phone is growing roots into my hands! 🤦🏼♀️ Keep up the great work! Love you guys…Thanks again!
Thanks, great video. My doubts are with tip #3, where you guys advise to close opened apps to save up battery. If you do that, then whenever you have to open those apps, the iPhone will have to reload them from scratch instead of opening in the state you left it (since as Apple says, it's on "standby mode"), draining more battery in the process. About BG opened apps, Apple states "After you switch to a different app, some apps run for a short period of time before they're set to a suspended state. Apps that are in a suspended state aren’t actively in use, open, or taking up system resources." meaning these apps won't be actually running in the Background and therefor draining the phone's battery. But am I wrong? And why?
Hi Mata, I’ve heard of this too. That it takes more energy for the iPhone to open the apps again than if you just left it and come back to where it was left at. However, if we won’t come back to the apps anymore, we can close them up, no problem. Let me know if I’m not right. Thanks 🙏
It works for some apps, on the other hand some apps are heavier and use more from your phone while running in the background, and unless you use that app often or can't spend the 2-5 sec load up times then sure, keep it on
I don't know why... but I had the overwhelming urge to subscribe... I can't think where that came from... It's not like someone kept low key begging or anything. I do like your videos though, so a new subscriber!
Wanted to say thank you for sharing these videos to help with my battery usage and settings they have helped out awesomely. Once question, one I update my phone while I have to go back in a reset some of the setting that are always on from factory or will they still be set to off. Thanks again guys
3:20 The WIFI Calling Location is on because when you use WIFI Calling on iPhone it keeps your e911 information stored when you set up WIFI Calling. Turning this off will make it near to impossible for 911 services to track your location in an immediate emergency that you can’t speak and the phone and they are trying to locate you.
Some other big battery savers for me for the iPhone 6s and SE (1st generation) were setting the email Preview to None (Settings > Mail > Preview > None). Before I changed this every time I went to check my emails my 6s and SE phones would get super hot and after checking a couple emails the battery would drop 10% to 20% ! After changing this setting the problem was gone. The next setting change that help me on these older phones was limiting the number of podcasts to download to 1 or none (Library > Long Press Show > Settings > Automatically Download > Off). With only 32GB the storage would fill up and the podcast app would continue to try and download episodes even though there was not enough space. The symptom of this was that the phone would randomly get hot while using the phone for no apparent reason. After changing this setting that problem was also gone.
Hello Payette Forward - a lot of convo online about significant locations being tied to “ optimize battery” setting and that optimize will not work if Significant locations is off even though the optimize toggle stays green….. any thoughts on this?
All great tips. I would have automated 'airplane mode' with the Shortcuts app between times you know you won't be using your phone. This might be too much, in the event of missing an emergency call during those times.
My alternative to this is to schedule "Downtime" on the hours you won't be using your phone. You still get emergency calls and calls from your close contacts, and it will stop the startup of apps that you don't need, saving battery life.
As a former insider, I can tell you with 100% certainty that Apple has multiple teams dedicated to planned obsolescence. Battery drain, start up times, other bugs are purposely baked into each new iOS. It’s done more gradually now as a drip feed but you can still easily spot the bigger bug drops (14.7). Planned obsolescence is usually carefully weighed against perceived reliability and brand loyalty. But Apple learned long ago that those scales weren’t in any real danger of tipping. I know from internal conversations (2014-2016) and project goal outlines, that even the fixes you’re talking about are baked in as a perceived control.
@@John-gx haha I had nothing to do with those kinds of decisions. I worked on a couple UX projects before leaving. But no, Jobs is most assuredly dead. I and no one I worked with was working for Apple during his last years but from what I understand he was very clearly dying.
I've long been wanting to ask this question about the "Optimized Battery Charging" setting... OK, the description below the button says this works because "iPhone learns from your daily charging routine," but, what happens if your 'schedule' is very erratic, so you really don't have much of a "daily routine"? Will it still manage to improve battery efficiency? Or could it somehow end up being worse?
That's actually my concerns too. Hence why I have it turned off. My charging schedule is all over the place and I don't charge the phone overnight. Plus, I think the "iPhone will learn" part actually consumes your battery because it's trying to analyze your usage of the phone.
All this does is, if you charge your phone regulary overnight: charge it to 80% initially and only to 100% 2 hours or so before u usually wake up. This will preserve battery health/capacity over time (a battery sitting at 100% doing nothing is bad for it's health). It WILL display a message on the lock screen when this in effect, something like "Optimized battery charging enabled, charging will finish at latest at 5:00 AM", with a button to continue charge up to 100% anyway. If u have it enabled and NEVER charge it overnight it does not harm nor benefit it. My bed times differ from 10 PM to 2-3 AM (and wake up 6-9AM), and it still uses it regulary, so it's quite smart. The charging pattern is logged anyway, it's part of iPhone's internal log system (some of the files you can find under Privacy, Analytics, Analytics data), it does not consume anything. It would be used by Apple technicians if something is wrong with your battery/charging. Bottomline: It's not some witchcraft that will optimize your battery efficiency during normal charging. If you can manage to charge it "manually" with a slow charger (0,5-1,5A, so
Excellent explanation from both of you guys especially pin pointing the use of the services in apps, example: when you guys talk about bank app, before disabling the location service you gave a guniune reason as why we need to have location enabled for it as we know the bank where it is exactly. Like this some more points you have mentioned before a service enabled or disabled. Very good explanation, on the features.
Presentation is great but missing part is more explanation of side effects, like parallax effect - screen object animation/shifting with device movement so icons look like floating over background. So in this case the effect of enabling setting is purely cosmetic, while other setting might impact connection recovery performance…

For all the haters who give these guys a thumbs down....why? they are helping you in making the performance of your iPhone better. For all that have subscribed and haven't become members yet, why not the perks are awesome!
I agree - maybe slowing down the presentation of the tips would make it easier to follow along without having to rewind for each tip. I don't get the haters either - always find these videos helpful!
I agree there great guys. They really no what there talking about. They have helped me since my switch back to iPhone the end of last year
I set playback speed to .75. It makes them sound stoned, which is kind of fun, and I’m able to follow better. I still have to pause some since I’m somewhat disoriented on my new phone & many IOS versions ahead of what i was using. The information here has been invaluable & I save them all for reference. 🥰
Glad to have you as a member, Jim! Thanks for your support.

In background app refresh, you don’t have to have any on. The messaging apps will still get messages just fine. And you can disable parallax effect just by going to set a new wallpaper and the small button on the bottom
Thanks! I was going to leave those on to get push notifications. I am glad to learn that I don't have to.
Yep. You don't need Background App Refresh for your messenger apps. I have it turned off for all apps and I still get push messages from all my messenger apps.
I don‘t know which change did it or if it was the sum of everything I changed while watching your video, but my iPhone has suddenly become MUCH FASTER!!! Thank you :-)
You guys are amazing!! I've been an Apple computer fan for a couple decades, but got my first iPhone just 3 days ago. It's been a nightmare! If you turn off location for all those system services it will effect things like night shift and automatic dark mode. I listened to you on that and it took some doing to figure out what happened.

wow these are one of the most efficiently impacting tips/tutorial i’ve followed!
battery life is much more lasting throughout the day. 🙌
Instead of using that
Don’t charge your phone overnight Because it stays at 100 percent longer which heats up your battery
This will degrade your battery over time
@@tahmidabdin4625 that’s just not true.
Pretty interesting and seems quite logical.
then just close the apps you know you won’t be using for the rest of the day i guess
@@catraaaaaa You could do that. But even then, it wouldn't have a significant drain on your battery. You wouldn't notice it
@@RiusII401 it’s simple trade off between killing not so frequent apps and keeping frequent apps on.
Thanks chris.
Thank you Chris
Great tip thanks
So is it bad if I turn it 100%
Even with blondie. I subscribed and watched and paused a bunch of times and changed my settings. We’ll worth my time. Great job. I’ll fix up my wife’s phone too. Thanks guys.
I can’t get to battery health anymore, it showed me my usage.
it’s fine now after i let it drain entirely. now that you i’ve found, i don’t get upset about it. once, my screen went black, and someone else blaming herself, instantly took it to Apple store, whereupon they immediately said, ‘dead battery’ no testing, just sold her a new one. 🤦🏻♀️ so, even though i was upset (because i can’t get around right now->my spine is not so good), i am more relaxed. thank you❤️
Thanks for all the tips!! Are people actually still using Facebook? I think getting rid of it is the #1 way to protect privacy and freedom.

You guys are awesome but forgot to mention that some of these services effect optimised battery charging I know it’s stupid but I mean it’s apple ot probably takes them ages to change it .
Here are the settings you need to have active:
1.Settings > Privacy > Location Services > Location Services.
2.Settings > Privacy > Location Services > System Services > System Customisation.
3.Settings > Privacy > Location Services > System Services > Significant Locations > Significant Locations.
I’m a new iPhone user and the tips are great thanks Samsung battery is still way better

I had watched a previous video about increasing battery life that you covered (probably a year or so ago) and almost everything you guys talked about today I already had in place! So I was doing most the “good things” already! I felt so smart! (No one has to know I copied each one of your tips word for word, right? 😂)
My battery dies mainly because I am just like a teenager, my phone is growing roots into my hands! 🤦🏼♀️
Keep up the great work!
Thanks 🙏
Nope that’s true. I only close apps at the end of the day before I sleep
It works for some apps, on the other hand some apps are heavier and use more from your phone while running in the background, and unless you use that app often or can't spend the 2-5 sec load up times then sure, keep it on
I don’t think they meant to actually close the app, just swipe it off your screen rather than have a whole bunch of apps piled up in the background.
The best battery life tips for iphone..perfect!

closing out of apps = having to reload it when you want to open it again = more battery drain
Having apps open = having background app refresh on = even more battery drain

Great times! Trying them out now! My iPhone 11 is all of the sudden dying by 9 am out of no where. Hopefully this will help!
Doesn't optimized battery charging only work when significant locations is enabled?
I think yes. But dont know how many days to take OBC turn on.
@@f9fad I think about 2 weeks
That is correct. It says so in Apple's support document
I can not thank u enough for all your tips!! I get to fix my phone and laugh at the same time 😂😂♥️♥️ Which is extremely hard to do♥️♥️
This significantly saved my really bad iPhone 6 battery!
Omg, “Why is the Blonde Guy so 🔥”😂😂😂 Just stumble upon you guys. 😎😎👍🏻
Hello Payette Forward - a lot of convo online about significant locations being tied to “ optimize battery” setting and that optimize will not work if Significant locations is off even though the optimize toggle stays green….. any thoughts on this?
I’m a senior with an I phone your videos have helped a lot Thanks guys
I thought the last option would “Turn off your phone and keep it as it is”
Thanks for the video! 🙂
I think the last two tips made a lot of sense to me.
So basically you're telling what they were doing is useless?
“Former insider” 🤨 tell us more! Will Apple ever make colored AirPods? Did Steve Jobs fake his death and is he still secretly running Apple? 😯
@@ruthlessrays9761 not useless, you still have to make the appropriate changes so that your device operates more efficiently.
@@John-gx haha I had nothing to do with those kinds of decisions. I worked on a couple UX projects before leaving. But no, Jobs is most assuredly dead. I and no one I worked with was working for Apple during his last years but from what I understand he was very clearly dying.

Thanks it’s actually worked on my iPhone SE ❤❤❤
True thought about it too
All this does is, if you charge your phone regulary overnight: charge it to 80% initially and only to 100% 2 hours or so before u usually wake up.
If you can manage to charge it "manually" with a slow charger (0,5-1,5A, so
Thanks bro it saved my iPhone 6s battery for 1hr more
Excellent explanation from both of you guys especially pin pointing the use of the services in apps, example: when you guys talk about bank app, before disabling the location service you gave a guniune reason as why we need to have location enabled for it as we know the bank where it is exactly. Like this some more points you have mentioned before a service enabled or disabled. Very good explanation, on the features.
I did all these tips minus maybe one and I noticed a difference off rip. Thanks for this
Presentation is great but missing part is more explanation of side effects, like parallax effect - screen object animation/shifting with device movement so icons look like floating over background. So in this case the effect of enabling setting is purely cosmetic, while other setting might impact connection recovery performance…
Did all these steps… wow what a difference!
