it's a shame that the Purge movies mainly focus on people using it to kill others, rather than the vast array of other potential crimes that they could do
seriously, if it was legal to do any crime, why not rob a fuckin bank instead of going on a rampage spree... makes no sense to me at all...

Honestly have no clue why everyone in these films is so caught up on the violence aspect rather than making bank and getting out.
You have seen the other movies right. There's people hunting you for fun. You'll die before you break into the bank. And the banks would be closed. And most big business people would flee and the small business owners would stay like in the Purge Election Year but even if you did break into the store they would protect their store and you'll die or die by someone else going around killing people
Because it’s an over exaggerated movie, if this happened in real life I feel like there’d be much less violence compared to the movie

Just do what MatPat said ~ fabricate the numbers on a tax return and file on that night. Wait a while and get the huge payout later. After that move elsewhere while simultaneously crippling the economy by a margin.

When you´re fighting in home you can use a microwave as a bomb by putting a cutlery inside as well as some cleaning products.
You can make the explosion even bigger by making gas to leak, while you hide in a bath tub.
When they walk in you can also use a fridge as a shield as the thicc fridge door can stop a bullet.

You’ve been watching too many movies… metal doesn’t turn microwaves into bombs, that’s ridiculous, at best you make a fire and break the microwave. Also most fridge door aren’t stopping a bullet, maybe a .22, one of the smallest common pistol rounds, but I doubt anything bigger then a 45 is being stopped. And a modern bathtub is most likely made of fiberglass, especially if it’s in a cheaper house, which is fire resistant but probably isn’t standing up to a gas explosion

I would definitely spend the purge alone. You never know someone's intentions but also the more people are gathered around me, the easier it would be to get killed. I wouldn't even stay in my own house as people would know where I live.
feel like being alone is a double edge sword. sure there's no one that can betray you but with more people(specifically crowds).its much easier to get away if things get dicey

It would've been cooler if Dimitri and his gang wore the clothes of the mercenaries after purging them, and then using a coding stripe to tell who'd on their team and who's the enemy. Those bright orange hazard things that warn drivers from things like mailboxes would be a good mark to use. It could be on the arm, front of the sleeve. It'd give them an advantage at purging the mercenaries, and you could always change the color mark in between purges.

How about this: If you are a hider, go to somewhere where it is desecrate or where NO PEOPLE ARE. The ones killing are more likely to go to places where lots of people are. So if you run into anyone, there is a high chance they aren’t willing to murder anyone.
As a new Yorker there's a lot of places the cops won't want to go cause their lazy. It's real easy to hide out here
The Purge movie's weren't that bad, the only problem is that you have to watch all of the stuff including the short lived series they had out but it's a good universe that you could use for all kinds of movies set in it.

I’ve never understood why the purge focuses on murder, honestly that’s the least attractive crime to commit, life in prison is a pretty lax punishment when compared to murder and you also don’t gain very much from killing someone. Seems like financial crimes or theft have punishments of years in prison and they also benefit you in some way so those should really be more common then murder. Now maybe there’s not much to do on a isolated island (legally isolated not physically) but surely in the movies where it’s an entire state there would be ample opportunity to plan all year to commit mass bank robberies, fraud, money laundering, embezzlement, theft, the list goes on. Bottom line is there’s so many better things to do when there are no legal consequences and murder seems like it’s at the bottom of the list
I think financial crimes are more difficult to commit since banks have good securities and you need hacking technology. Robbing may be more practical but it can escalate to violent crimes.

I always just laugh at the Purge movies. I mean, I get how the Purge can happen. I've been in a shopping centre during a blackout haha I know how quick shit can escalate but..
How does it sustain itself _after_ the Purge?! It's gotta be a wild thing for the builders and cleaners to try and have to put everything back together in 364 days before it just gets utterly destroyed again a year later -.-

Was cutting the power to the building really such a good idea ? Normally, heavily prepared kill squads have night vision goggles. If anything, you're just increasing their advantage. It turned out differently in the movie, but, normally, they should have been properly equipped.
Excellent video, as usual. However, I'm not sure about that whole 'stalk Skeletor' idea. On paper, you are absolutely correct. The main problems are as follows : First of all, how much time exactly does that character have to study Skeletor, before the Purge experiment even starts ? Second of all, if everyone will practically be given free range, how do we even know Skeletor will hang around the same places as usual, during the Purge experiment ?

How to beat the purge: Stealth and lay low
What are some non-murder related crimes that would be worth exploring in the Purge?
Tax Evasion, Bank Robbery, Driving over the Speed Limit, Using Drugs, Drag Racing.
Me personally I'm evading my taxes like there's no tomorrow
Arson, shoplifting, buying and not registering a pet. I wouldn't commit any crimes if there were a purge, but burning a bonfire for fun in a relatively controlled environment could give you the opportunity to cook smores.
- Another video has mentioned harvesting and selling organs from dead bodies as a great way to make money ( as it usually isn’t legal without consent from donors)
Other lucrative low-risk options include
- Hacking banks or other large corporations within your country
- Counterfeit ( just make them during the purge and use them after.)
- Art or valuable artifact theft/ forgery
- Poaching valuable animals ( wild or from your convenient local zoo)
- Doing illegal/unethical scientific experiments during the hours it is legal.
Malicious Mischief/Destruction of Property:
This goes without saying. I'm stealing all of your spark plug wires, siphoning your gas tank, keying up your vehicle, breaking windows, et cetera. If I'm going to commit a crime, I'm going to do something that is painful to a person I particularly dislike, though non-lethal because I'm not a complete monster.
Destruction of Public Works:
Who hates streetlights and signal crossings? Going into City Hall and destroying their server racks? If we're going to do something weighty, let the government feel the sting. They can't charge you for it after all.
Assorted Tomfoolery:
This includes Public Intoxication (Disturbing of the Peace), Hacking, and other things which are particularly noxious but largely nonlethal. *I'll also take your TV remotes and network cables because I'm particularly spiteful like that.*
The Purge as a movie series could be so much better if it didn't go straight to murder you know.

you cant commit it as soon as it starts, you can fail to submit your income tax though. but only before the purge, and the purge is only 1 night so there isnt even much time to do it.

Tbh this should have been the first and last Purge movie. All the others after this took the fun out. Also never get a vendetta when you can’t even pull a trigger.
@11:40 ish. Handguns, especially small ones, are difficult to aim at the best of times, without proper training their range is actually fairly limited. True, the kid was WAY too close to the psycho, even ten feet would have been close enough to do the job, easily, and would still have been far enough away that even if the psycho threw his weapon, he'd have to get REALLY lucky for it to do any real damage; it's not exactly a large weapon so it can't hold much kinetic force per the average throwing speed of the human arm.

It's pretty easy, just leave Staten Island. You don't need a car, you can walk from one end of SI to the other end in less than half a day. Get off the island before it starts and then come back the next day.

There are multiple pawnshops near me, as well as jewelry store and a Ford dealership.
I am friends with a salesman at the Ford dealership, and kinda know the lady at the pawnshop.
Before the purge I would be up front with them and tell them that I intended to rob these places, if they would help me I would split the profit three ways with them.
That's what I would do.
