    So I've been building a large desk for my work from home setup for 2021. One of the features it will have is hidden wireless charging, but I didn't want to bore a hole through my nice surface, or cut out the majority of the surface just to put in a regular qi charger. After lots of searching, I chose the Kew Labs UTS-1 Invisible Wireless Charger. And man, I have a lot to say about this thing!

    Boxing is one of the oldest sports, in earlier times people still fought on circular podiums. The name "Ring" was simply adopted over the centuries.

    First of all great video and thank you I've been looking for something like this for a while now. I'm making a custom walnut computer desk with breadboard ends and inlay banding. I was worried I would have to route out the bottom of my desk to a 1/4inch thick. So this got me excited 😆 subbed!

      Hey yeah I’m so excited something like this exist! Especially when I found out even 1/4” doesn’t work, and I’d have to leave just 1/8” material for regular wireless chargers to work for something like the iPhone 12 Pro Max haha

    In its early stages it was an actual ring since people naturally form a ring around fights. When they wanted to add ropes around the ring, stringing a rope around a circle would be too hard and impractical to do for thousands of boxing rings. So they made it into a square which is easier to string

    Used to be fought inside a rough circle (ring) on the ground. With the adding of ropes, it wasn't practice to use a circle, hence becoming a square.

    You'd need more upright pillars to keep the rope going in a circle. That's a waste of material and more expensive. They pay fighters sooo much money per fight that they therefore don't have enough money for more than 4 uprights! Great video! :)

    The boxing ring is square because it makes it easier to consistently setup the venue with straight equal lines for the ropes on all 4 sides. Also they probably thought it would be unique to make their ring shaped like a square.

    It’s difficult, I’d say impossible to get a rope to curve and stay that way. I suppose another shape like a hexagon would work too, but more structural corners required. And a triangle would result in a smaller area.

  • @ck5279
    @ck5279 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    thanks for the video. I wonder if you can share more on the explanation on the thin charger and the iphone 12 pro max and magsafe? I would have assumed the standard version would have done the same as the thin, but just go through more material. I have a desk that is 1" thick and so i would have assumed i needed the standard....thanks!

    • @BevelishCreations
      @BevelishCreations  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It took me a few minutes to understand this as well. But the standard version has a thickness limit between 18mm to 25mm. Because the iPhone 12 Pro Max essentially adds about 5mm on top of the table thickness, the table needs to be 20mm or less. So for the standard charger, the table thickness needs to be 18mm to 20mm. That’s a pretty small range. The thin version is 10-17mm. So for someone who can cut a hole in their desk, you’ll get more range to work with. The manufacturer also said that through their tests the thin version worked much better for the Pro Max in terms of consistency. If you reach out to their or look on their site you might get more information on this. But this is just how I understood it

    • @BevelishCreations
      @BevelishCreations  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey actually the Magsafe feature and the large camera module on the iPhone 12 Pro Max reduces the distance which a charger can work. Once you add a case on it, it reduces that distance even more. So you want the actual surface to be thinner

    • @OfficialRay3

    quare-shaped ring provides firm support and flexibility to the entire system. A circular ring, on the other hand, wouldn’t be as strong and effective. From a mechanical standpoint, a square ring easily trumps a circular one. Also, a square is one of the easiest shapes to construct. That’s why you find square shapes in so many places, whether it’s a boxing ring, a pizza box or a CD packet. The contents might be a “circle”, but the package is easier to make as a square!
