BRUH I have no idea how you did this, I was literally thinking a few days ago "I wonder if there is a remake of Wave Race 64's title theme" THANK YOU this is amazing!
The water in this game and Mario 64 were just hypnotizing, like they were both promising us a future of gaming beyond our wildest dreams. Keep dreaming everyone & enjoy the intro.
I remember when my father bought me the N64 with Wave Race. I was like...12? Now im 37 and im creating games. I loved this game so much and the Music Remaster is Top Notch!
Not only did you modernize the sound of the theme song, but you've also managed to keep the spirit Of the original theme itself while doing it. None of it sounds overdone, all of it sounds juust about right. I could easily pass this one off as an official soundtrack from a remake/remaster of the game.
Wow, this is how you do a retro game song remake!! Stays super true to the original but really well produced with modern instruments & recording. Gave me chills!
Simply perfect. This makes me wish a new Wave Race Game. I play Wave Race 64 every summer, it makes me feel so good... A really cool game and OST. Thank you for this piece of art.
Nah, UE wouldn't be able to keep the pace, at least not without a *ton* of optimization. The graphical capabilities are far greater than a game like Wave Race needs, which should favor performance and slick art direction over fidelity and realism. Unity with the Universal Render Pipeline or even Godot would be more suitable I think.
@@mystman1210 Most of the work would be the water with the driver. The rider has to react to the waves with various animations, fall down, get up again, do all the tricks etc. .... Hard work but doable!
Here in Brazil the games were so expansive we had to rent it, like blockbuster for games, I would rent WR64 on friday and return it on monday. 3 weekend days and nights playing, bring friends to sleep over, all night long playing this amazing game. The nostalgia

I wish they would remake wave race for the switch, wave race was such a fun game to play and the soundtrack was just beautiful and mystical in its own way
awesome! easily one of the best racing games on the N64. I always loved the music, the orange water that's reflecting the sun, and the water screen transitions. too bad Nintendo never brought this series back in recent years (or F-Zero for that matter since we really don't need even more Mario Kart games), since I would imagine a new Wave Race would not only be a lot of fun, but it would look gorgeous.
This is great! Sounds like they made a remaster of the game. You should also do the Drake Lake theme at some point, that’s one the best tracks in this game
Ahhh I remember coming home from school to new games My late dad would always buy games whenever someone from the neighborhood would pawn games my late dad was the Best
Tfw nintendo presumably sitting on the Wave Race IP even today... Imagine a Wave Race game launch title for this new switch nintnedo may or may not be working on!
They were working on a remake/sequel for the WiiU, but they axed the project. Doubt we'll ever see another Wave Race release, but it'd be a day 1 buy for me if they did.
Wave Race deserves a new entry and if Nintendo actually wanted to use the joy cons, they would be cool as a way of controlling the game. This would be the ideal theme for a new entry.
Now, usually I can judge whether a Wave Race 64 Main Theme cover is going to be good by whether the chord at 0:11 is a straight C major or a C over D - yours is the latter, so I had high expectations going in. Overall, it's not terrible. Your biggest mistakes are using a D# instead of E in the third chord of the 5-6-7-1 climb back up to F around 0:38 and again at 0:50, then later at 0:58-0:59 at the triple blast, I believe you will find that the correct chord is F sus2, not C major, go back and have a listen at the original. As for instrumentation, you manage to hit the hooks of the piece, and the guitar is a nice touch, but overall there's simply too much reverb, and some of the lower notes seem blended together. Final verdict: It's mostly faithful, and the mastering quality is high, but some of the notes/chords are wrong and the reverb is overpowering some of the syncopated bass notes. 6/10.
You're right. I was aware of this chord anomaly and I've been meaning to do a revised version at some point in the future. Can't say when though. I know I can get a little reverb crazy at times and I'll try to keep that in check in the future.
MIDI. But I did have to tweak some of the controllers like modulation and pitch + add effects, compression and equalize the mix to make it sound better.
OMG THE FEELS!!!! 😍😍😍😍
My childhood! This is gorgeous!
It was the same thing I thought, I remember this fantastic game with great affection, I'm from Brazil!!!

Why am I crying this is so good...
PEAK 90's gaming.
This game had a better opening than it had any right to, and this remaster SLAPS hard. This has made my day.
This is exactly what the game looked and sounded like when it came out.
Please, do more of these, in fact I trust that you can do the entire soundtrack. You got skills!
Thanks. There are some more Wave Race tracks on my to-do list. ;)
Please do! I love the entire soundtrack. So all remasters are greatly appreciated!
This is KILLER!!! What a trip straight to the 90s! Can't believe it's almost 30 years old!!

So true. This game was ahead of it's time.

Ryota Hayami from Japan, Dave Mariner and Ayumi Stewart from the United States, and Miles Jeter from Canada.
Never forget their names! :)
Ah I remember A. Stewart because of the South Park voice actress April Stewart lol (much later)
Miles Jeter was always my favorite to play!
Another childhood classic ost brought back to life thanks to you bud.
