dude, the respect I have for Matt is unreal. He read an article about their culture before entering their home, he asked questions and was so damn respectful and genuinely kind about everything. He was taking the time to learn and I find that extremely admirable.

Lucy Blue yeah what’s sad tho is most people now and days aren’t respectful and are usually rude. Especially in America where racism is sadly happening daily. It’s not because he’s deemed as famous or whatever it’s just impressive that he cares and has enough respect for other people’s cultures to go above and beyond to make his friends feel accepted because a lot of people of different religions and races (especially Muslims) are looked at as bad people and stereotyped. It’s just nice to see someone be so accepting of everyone.

Fatima Meah. I think that is how everyone should be. My friends are from all over and I try my best to learn as much as I can about their culture and religion on by own, and then ask them to clarify anything I don't understand. Plus I ask them about their experiences and to tell me about the diversity of their culture so I am not only knowing the stereotypes. PLUS I try to learn at least one or two phrases in their language. I am a white Canadian girl but I can say in Arabic stuff like "Salam Alaykum. Ismi Natasha, ana min Canada. Kafiq?" (Excuse my poor ability to say that). I learned to understand the basic stuff like yalla and anything simple that is said a lot through the day. Aswell I can count to 10 in Arabic! Arabic is the easier one, I'm still working on learning Tamil phrases with my friends from India because my goodness that's a hard language to learn for me. I learned some Tagolog when I had a Philipino friend. I learned all about the language Morrocan's speak etc.
In my view, if you actually care about your friends, you'd want to learn all you can so you can connect even deeper with them!
