What's the use of the edge of the cue ball ? We're just using half tip offsets aimed towards any of those points depending on the angle then pivoting. Pls clear this.

What determines a right or left pivot? I've never been clear on that.

I tend to move right into the 1/2 tip offset usually opposite of the cut angle. Try both to see which on comes "naturally" for you as it depends on various factor (ie) dominant eye, left or right handed, etc.
