  • This is such a stunningly beautiful melody and, particularly towards the end, Dimash soars like I've never heard any vocalist anywhere. The word "stunned" doesn't even begin to describe what I felt during the finale. Free Voice Lessons: chrisliepe.com...

Dimash himself produced this song many years ago and made the arrangements for his voice that you are able to listen to today. The original song is quite a simple one.
In my personal opinion, you should react to Dimash's IKANAIDE. It was his first time ever singing in Japanese and he nailed it. The use that Dimash makes of his voice in Ikanaide is masterful and mindblowing.

Dimash has studied music since he was 5 years old. He has a master's degree in composition and this year he is presenting his doctorate in musicology. Considered by his teachers to have absolute pitch. He handles all vocal techniques and has absolute control of his voice and breathing. His vocal range goes from baritone to soprano. Multi-instrumentalist, singer and composer. So far we have heard him sing on stage in 13 languages: Kazakh, Russian, Chinese (Mandarin), Italian, English, French, Ukrainian, Turkish, Serbian, Kyrgyz, Japanese, Spanish, Armenian. Offstage in Arabic and German. The most versatile I know and has songs from different genres, from opera to rap. In addition, he is a great performer, unmatched when it comes to transmitting emotions and feelings in his songs and videos. If you want to fully enjoy its whispered singing, I recommend listening to Ikanaide, (Don't Go), a beautiful song by Toji Kamaki sung in Japanese. Dimash is an incredible, humble and committed human being, an ambassador of peace wherever he goes. I recommend you watch his MV 'The Story Of One Sky'. Dimash worked for three years on this composition while working on other songs and concerts. He is also the scriptwriter of the MV, a high-quality video production that cost 7 million dollars. 300 people worked on this MV, more than 100 between orchestra and choirs. A video with a strong and necessary message for everyone, it is a masterpiece. With what we are seeing these days it seems that humanity is dehumanized. The world could use many more Dimash. Everyone should watch this video and be aware. That was Dimash's goal when he did it. Greetings from Spain

G'day from Sydney. You're adapting well to Dimash, in that you are no longer stopping every few seconds to analyse some new vocal marvel. And listening to longer segments lets us appreciate the flow and construction of his performances. Yes, he is primarily an entertainer and a story teller, and his vocal prowess just adds to the impact. In some of his interviews he discusses his philosophy of music in depth, and really sounds like a Doctor of Music. What you haven't had a chance to look at yet are his Kazakh songs (eg. Samaltau, Daididau, Omir Oter, Dudarai), which show his great love of his homeland and culture, and show a completely different side of his talents. Plus of course there are his more operatic works (Olimpico, El Amor en Ti, Ave Maria and his wonderful duet with Placido Domingo), and music videos (more mini-movies, beautifully done) ranging from fun/poppy (Be With Me) to nostalgic (Omir) or 80s horror (When I've got You) or the tragic but inspirational Story of One Sky, which may well be the greatest and most significant "music video" ever made. And there's so many more fan favorites I haven't mentioned. Everything he produces is of impeccable quality, and every song has some unique aspect (eg. Unforgettable Day-Gakku has one of the highest notes ever produced by a human, a D8 no less). Basically what I'm saying is that no other artist comes close to the sheer variety and musical quality that Dimash produces, and he spends hours each day training to be even better. Thanks for a great reaction.

You nailed it, this song is from a 1978 French-Canadian musical. Starmania. SOS went on to become one of the most popular French songs of all time, and one of the hardest to sing. Dimash made it his own with his interpretation of it. It is usually the first song people experience, and is the gateway to the world of Dimash.

He is a beast but was classically trained at a young age too. The Chinese Bazaar version which might be this one is the best I’ve heard him sing this song. The way he can effortlessly switch in whistle voice and head and back to chest is immaculate to say the least. I can follow this song in singing except for the whistle registers which are hard. This song is a pearl of the French songbook: It is a French-Canadian cyberpunk-rock opera called “Starmania”, written in 1976 by Michel Berger (France) and with lyrics by Luc Plamondon (Canada) and immortalized in the voices of Daniel Balavoine, Diane Dufresne and Gregory Lemarchal. The theme of the song is depression: In the 2021 version, Dimash faithfully and brilliantly presents a sentimental and melancholy interpretation! As the singing decisions follow the original structure of the song, which serves to show the psychological instability of the afflicted character: From the chest voice to the head voice and then to falsetto, the author sought to show a broad need to overcome a moment of despair and the pretense of accepting to reach a higher perspective! Dimash, currently at his concerts, dedicates this song to his friends and acquaintances who have departed this world!

Thank you for your insightful reaction.😘👍 I am a Dear and I love Dimash because of the emotions and sensations he evokes in me. Of course, there are different songs that also evoke different feelings. And then it also depends on the circumstances of the event how intense the feelings come across. For example, he also had more official performances where high-ranking figures from business, politics or religion were in the audience. His performances in "I am Singer" are also unique, because this was a contest and he had to give it his all to progress from episode to episode ... for example, he sang many songs with more extreme tones. Here at the Digital Show (Jan. 2021) it was an online live concert without an audience because the world was in lockdown ... we were so happy that he was able to delight us Dears with a livestream of the concert in this way ... even though it must have been strange for him and his team to perform without an audience.
I also really like his faster pop-like songs, which put me in a good mood and are full of life and rhythm, so that I like to dance to them.
But it's his ballads that I particularly like - full of emotion, with or without high notes - it doesn’t matter ( Late Autumn, If I never breathe again, Give me Love, Meaning of Eternity, Thousands of Miles, Restart my Love, Karagym-ai, Qairan-Elim, Akkyum… and many more).
I also find it interesting that, at least for me, he creates different moods when singing in different languages... many of his Chinese songs are so tender and soft...
But what I like best are his vocalises - sung without words - (like "Know" and Ave Maria or certain sections in various songs like "Love of Tired Swans", "Late Autumn", "Sinful passion", "Passione", "El Amor En Ti” „TSOOS” ,… or even in the modern song „Smoke") … he puts his whole soul into it.
In general I love it, when he reinterprets his popular songs at concerts, makes smaller or bigger changes... adds melismas, runs or adlibs to it. In my opinion, in his concerts you can experience a completely different Dimash than at individual performances. The connection, the bond he builds with the fans/audience is wonderful and the unity he creates in the audience, despite coming from all over the world with different languages and many other differences such as religion, age, previous musical preferences, cultural backgrounds ... is nothing short of a miracle.
It`s worth it and a pure delight to watch one of his solo-concerts … on Dimash`s TH-cam channel there is the Stranger concert in Almaty /Kazakhstan from September 2022 … in three parts, because his concerts last 3 to 4 hours and they are fantastic shows with an overall experience … special effects, spiritul stories by Dimash, some mini-movies on the videoscreen to introduce the next songs in a unique way, a lot of cultural Kazakh elements, impressive guest musicians or singers and of course Dimash`s professional team - backing singers, band/musicians, dancers, technicians.
I wish everybody a good time. A Dear from Germany.🙋🏻‍♀💝🇩🇪

Yes he can sing in all the registers (baritone, tenor and soprano). He is otherworldly, in a good way, but from another world better than ours, I guess 😊. He has it all; power, delicacy, emotion, range, versatility,..., such a complete and huge artist! This performance is mesmerizing. I learned with your explanations and enjoyed seeing your facial expressiveness. I hope you keep going exploring Dimash world, you have a great journey ahead. Thanks Chris. Cheers 👋

How can he have that good support and breathing when he's on his knees at the end?
Amazing, thanks. You also answered my question with the staccato to interrupt the airflow. Something I have to work on. Because my staccatos are mostly without interupting the airflow.
