People dreaming ilia KO Islam out in a boxing range like he’s some random Volk or max? Lol skills Islam has is so far ahead that ilia is gonna find out his boxing is not working in the fight.. If he gets Islam in boxing range then what ? Islam is gonna grab him into a clinch position and throw a lot of knees, or grab him by collar tie and throw a lot of knees, if he’s outside the range, Islam will kick him and maintain distance, if ilia runs in without any setup he’s gonna get snipped by Islam. There are many ways Islam will beat ilia and him just KO Islam out against the fence is just an absurd dream .
He hasnt finish anyone, has some split decisions, and he is boring as hell. Also, he fights once every couple of years. I dont think he deserves a shot.
You're wrong at the Ryan Hall segment. Ilia avoided ground exchanges completely before that one punch. He would literally stand up and walked away whenever Ryan used his weapon ie, Imanari Roll. It was only after he punched Ryan during his one of many attempts that Ryan was shaken. And then Ilia unloaded his barrage of punches. Now to be clear, I was rooting before, during and after for Ilia, even to the this I sometimes watch that fight, because it shut up Joe Rogan and also Ryan's take on Khabib on Lex Fridman podcast.
Islam destroy Arman, it’s wasn’t“toe to toe”. Weight class for a reason. Islam have much more experience. And don’t count out Volk. He can surprise a lot of people. As long as Topuria will strike, every time a good chance that he can get catch.
@zarifinator1327 I met him few months ago in Yerevan and dude, he's much bigger in person and much bigger than I thought he would be considering his height.
@jjizzler9592 Not really. Yair outstruck Max and forced him to wrestle, and we know Ilia could get caught with a high kick. I'm not saying he wins, but he's a big problem standing for Ilia.
I agree! But the fight wouldn't be close, Ilia would just shoot a takedown and batter yair to death. Yair is so good, if only his takedown defense was a little better.
@@JoeMma-oz4zq I'm not a Movsar fan. I don't even like him lmfao and I would prefer ilia beats him. I just think he's gonna beat ilia, the same way Belal and Merab won the belt.
You can’t just stay out of boxing range with Ilia. It’s impossible for 5 rounds. He moves in defensively sound so he’ll get past the jabs and teeps and he’s frankly just undeterred by leg strikes. You have to have a strategy for facing him in the pocket. It’s probably good clinch work, takedown attempts, or getting good at shelling. Avoid the thai clinch though, at least for extended time in the pocket or he’ll tear your body up. Developing a good trip game might be the best way to deal with Ilia in close but that remains to be seen.
@@zarifinator1327 Easier said than done. If you don't set it up, you're gone get 5 second Askren'd. The other half of this is that Ilia has good wrestling and Jiu Jitsu, so sure, maybe a mini Khamzat could take him down but there's nobody in the UFC that has a shot like him. Bryce couldn't take him down until after Ilia destroyed his face and Ilia let his guard down. And once you get him down, if you don't have good positional grappling and Jiu Jitsu of your own, Ilia is going to put you in dangerous positions unless you've got him up against the fence. You can't just shoot, you're gonna get sprawled on and probably end up on bottom.
The fans deserve a showing like Izzy vs Ilia, picture that in the Maddison square garden the best boxer perhaps on the planet Ilia vs the best kickboxer and tactician in the game.
Yeah, 1st one was a fast level change by Islam for a takedown and last one was more like a legit knock down. But after watching it few times actually Islam got clipped while going for a takedown and lost the balance. It wasnt even a hard punch to hurt him. And Islam clearly won 3 rounds if not 4, but they say he lost the fight. People are just creating dramas out of nothing to make Islam look bad always. He never gets the credits he deserves. As Max says, "It is what it is."
The thing here is that Ilia has said "I want to defeat him by submission". I am an Ilia ultra fan, but I am not sure if that is a feasible way to defeat Islam. It would definitely be much easier to beat Islam out of a KO, still pretty tough but at least more realistic. I don't know what is going to happen, just that Ilia likes this kind of challenges to freaking much.
Probably Islam; the guy's wrestling is off the charts. His stand up isn't too shabby either and he's HUGE for LW; he's basically a medium sized WW and he's not going to stand up against Illia for long; Khabib won't let him. Shoot, Charles might too, but Charles is reckless and he's taken a lot of damage over the years, but on the ground? I wouldn't put my money on Illia if it went to the ground with Charles; you need that Dagestan Defense or someone that has the same level as Charles. I haven't seen Illia perform on the ground at that level. Basically, I think the top 5 LW's have a real good shot at beating Illia.
We should wait until a few weeks, or months. Ilia won impressively, so they are gonna compliment to the skies right now, "OMG, Ilia Topuria is the worst match up for Francis Ngannou!" lol. But eventually, it fades.
Topuria has been one of my favorite fighters for awhile now. God, It's so frustrating Sean agreed to that Merab fight even tho he needed surgery. Especially because if im being honest that was the first time I have seen Sean not perform the way he always has. He didn't fight the grappling like he normally does. He didn't sprawl or feint or switch stances like he usually does. All while being very mobile. He just did not fight like he usually does. IMO Sean was genuinely not himself that fight. This is why I need to see him come back and get active again because that was the only time I have actually seen Sean have an off night. Still props to Merab. I did not expect things to go the way they have with the Umar & Merab thing tho... and then for Merab to actually be pushing for rematching Sean.. I just assumed Sean would get that rematch at some point down the road. I think Sean is even surprised Merab didn't push for that Umar fight and only focus on the rematch instead.. I don't think anyone predicted that

As long as you are in the game someone can come and beat you it's basic logic
It's a high risk low reward fight for Islam though, if he wins he just beat another featherweight just like people were saying after he beat Alex who is the featherweight goat and was the no.1 p4p fighter at the time

That said, I am not sure if the results will change too much maybe ending in the 3rd round like Max.

Why Everyone forgets that Movsar Evloev already beat Diego lopes and is still undefeated
because he barely beat a short notice debut and is an absolute nuthugging bum?
Because he’s ass
He hasnt finish anyone, has some split decisions, and he is boring as hell. Also, he fights once every couple of years. I dont think he deserves a shot.
All these dagestani fans: “Brotha undefeated lion Movsar brotha.” Overrated, no knockdowns, no power. Split decision with 37 year old Nik Lentz.
It was Diego's debut at ufc, short notice
He's fighting the winner of Islam/Tsarukyan.
He should but I think Islam going to move up before that. Hear me out, my hot take is they will have max vs ilia 2 for the vacant lightweight belt
@@evanrushing7495Only if Belal already fought and lost to Shavkat

Nope. Islam gains nothing from that fight
He is fighting Lopes, Volk, or winner of Aljo vs Movsar.
Diego Lopes and Mosvar are on the come up. Don’t sleep, they’re going to be pushing for the top soon
Islam vs. Tiporio is the fight to make.

That is true.

Movsar is the answer
Islam destroy Arman, it’s wasn’t“toe to toe”. Weight class for a reason. Islam have much more experience. And don’t count out Volk. He can surprise a lot of people. As long as Topuria will strike, every time a good chance that he can get catch.
Also Arman is huge, his biceps are the size of Ilias head
@zarifinator1327 I met him few months ago in Yerevan and dude, he's much bigger in person and much bigger than I thought he would be considering his height.

@jjizzler9592 Not really. Yair outstruck Max and forced him to wrestle, and we know Ilia could get caught with a high kick. I'm not saying he wins, but he's a big problem standing for Ilia.
Low key
I agree! But the fight wouldn't be close, Ilia would just shoot a takedown and batter yair to death. Yair is so good, if only his takedown defense was a little better.
Ilia takes him down and submits him in the first

You can’t just stay out of boxing range with Ilia. It’s impossible for 5 rounds. He moves in defensively sound so he’ll get past the jabs and teeps and he’s frankly just undeterred by leg strikes. You have to have a strategy for facing him in the pocket. It’s probably good clinch work, takedown attempts, or getting good at shelling. Avoid the thai clinch though, at least for extended time in the pocket or he’ll tear your body up. Developing a good trip game might be the best way to deal with Ilia in close but that remains to be seen.
Trips and throws are a big part of Islam’s game. I don’t know who is gonna win this fight.
You can stay out of boxing range if you take your opponent down and don't let them get back up.
Volk didnt knock down islam.. Islam was on his way down for a takedown and got hit off balance. It wasn't an actual knockdown.

Me, just put me and topuria in a room I walk out of that room every time.
Movsar gonna beat this guy 💯, note my words

I don't think anyone predicted that
i think Lopes is the one who will beat him. i have no reason to say why tbh.
