Never have I listened to an artist and gotten so blown away and also frustrated by how clever and great the chord changes are but HOW? How does he always pull out these awesome changes? I know a lot of his musical mannerisms but he’s such a complex music composer..it’s beautiful and unlike anyone! He was too good to go so soon..not enough ppl have any idea how much this guy was ahead of everyone else with Chords/melody and lyrics..it’s impeccable
Agreed. This guy has so many layers and levels to his brilliance. He’s almost from another planet when it comes to crafting instrumentation. The vocal “Ahh’s” in Go By is such a subtle key change but beautiful and striking for how smooth the transition is. He does this kind of shit in every song / album. Little nuances that set him apart from all others. I could go on all day about the genius of Elliott Smith.
He definitely thought so, at least about his first album with Heatmiser. In my opinion, the only song close to bad was Looking Over My Shoulder and that still has parts I like.
KRS released these songs on a 45RPM 12" record for record store day. Needle In The Hay (Trumpet) was actually released online years ago, and crazy fucker has been circulating for a long long time, but otherwise the tracks on the 12" are new to our ears

People will call it “deceptive cadence” but I thinks it’s just a result of wanting more or wanting the music to be more
You re so fucking great man, I love you for uploading the alternate version, I've subscribed to your channel and I love all your content, keep it up!
thank yu :)
the highlight of the release for me. its a shame the bridge is omitted... such a fascinating rendition of the song
this hurts my heart because its soooo beautiful..
wow! Thanks for sharing. That is even a quite different version of what was surfaced some years ago.
I am dead serious did Elliott write a bad song or instrumental?
He is easily over looked and has been for years..
RIP Mr Smith..

@@fooball4589 The melody/guitar is beautiful and hypnotic in that song the lyrics are little Angsty and punk rock i guess
I don’t like Thirteen, the subject matter feels kinda lame. Doesn’t sound that good either. Every other song he made is amazing though.
He was too musically advanced to make anything not worth your time…truly. He was like some classical composer for the modern era
@@asaantoine9485that’s a cover. Thirteen is a Big Star song
Love.
Whoa. In like a ghost.
Yo where the heck did this come from? I did not get this from all the grand mal recordings....Just read the description.
