terrible spacing, 6-7 people running around ball. So many mispasses. Ball hogging, pass only as last resort. Current fast paced game is much higher quality.

@@abdullahansari8759 maybe true for european countries. India still has the individual flair and dazzling skill on ball, to add to the ball movement. There is a lot less errors and unselfishness in todays game. Its like the tiki-taka of Barca football with Messi, Iniesta, etc

Classic beautiful hockey. Hockey on turf in the 90's was the best.
Brilliant team but in 1995 finished 3rd 🥉 which slowly showed the decline of the team after winning World Cup in 94 .
Decline had already begun 10 years before that... That success in ealry nineties was just a flame flickering before it was extinguished.
From eighties hockey started disappearing from neighborhood grounds and streets.... The history and heritage at that time kept us going for 8-10 more years and thats it...
Similar thing is happening now with cricket... No new grounds.... Not much interest at neighborhood level to play and maintain teams... Very few competition at grass root level.... People themselves are more interested in criticizing selection of the national team rather than demanding better playing facilities for themselves.
Sports progress happens at grass root level. Main parameter of measuring it is number of people playing and participating in it .... Performance of national team comes automatically as a result

Golden days of Asian Style hockey. Two great players Shahbaz Senior and Dhanraj Pillaoy,Strange to see that Pakistani flags and spectators were more than Indians in the stadium. It shows the national spirit of the nation, which is lacking now a days thats why we are no where in world competitions.🇵🇰🇵🇰🇵🇰

Among indian players of those times, only Dhanraj pillay was of some match to legendary pakistani players like shahbaz senior, Tahir zaman. Pakistan in those times was simple outstanding in hockey.

Pakistan were World Cup champion and champions trophy holder in 1994 but could not defend their title in 1995. Pakistan played the final again in 1996 in india but sadly lost to Netherland I think.

It was a nice match but where was left inn ? ShahBAZ Sr khalafat can see openly that what he wants does he did and Pakistan left side no proper attack and movement have been seen in second half . RaNa MujhaiD was also a weak selection in the team .

A good team but no match to team of early 80’s. World champs in 82, Asian champs Olympics champions 84. Champion trophy champions. Every single title was with Pakistan. Just imagine forward line Kaleemullah Ullah, Manzoor Jr, Hassan Sardar, Hanif khan, SammiUllah. Wall of China Akhtar Rasool as centre half. Two full backs Munawar and Manzoor. What a team

@@mindcontrol737, we are living in present. I just gave you stats. When we dominated we won record 4 world cups, three champion trophies, 8 Olympic medals and 8 Asian golds. Pakistan also beat india 7 times in test series and india only won just one test series against Pakistan. Reality is india could not win a single champions trophy. Last time india won a World Cup was in 1975 a controversial one after that india could not even qualify for any semifinal it has been 48 years now. Last Olympic gold for india was won in 1980 when all top teams pulled out only Poland, Tanzania and Cuba like teams were playing. India is a minnow in hockey. You guys recently hosted few world cups and did not even made it to semifinal and a lower ranked kiwis kicked out india from recent World Cup in their own home. These rankings are useless. First try to win some global tournament.

@@mindcontrol737, ranking does not really matter that much. Victories and championships matters. Kiwis were ranked lower than india but they end up knocking india out of World Cup in their own home last year. India was knocked out in cross overs and could not even qualify for quarterfinals. It has been 48 years since last india qualified to play a semifinal in a World Cup and by next World Cup it will be 52 years.
