She sacrifice herself to get pregnant so she can set up the whole scheme to prove that Ruyi did not poison all the other pregnant concubine. Remember, ruyi was thrown into the cold palace bc she was framed to kill off the fetuses of other concubines.
He really was a bastard. He didn't deserve the love or devotion from any of them!

Hailan's love for ru yi is definitely not platonic. More explicitly so in the novel. But in this drama also there is a scene where Jiang Yubin asks Hailan the nature of her concern for Ru Yi. Hailan replies that it is the same kind of concern Yubin has for Suoxin.

我聽有的TH-camr說其實海瀾就是女同志。他說在原著小說裏海瀾就是在王府時被乾隆侵犯了，後來是如懿替她求了個名分。海瀾對乾隆是畏懼的。有點算是在當年封建思想下未受啓蒙的女同志吧。大概就是，對男人沒有興趣，真心喜歡著如懿，卻不知這是愛情。這樣理解，很多事情都說得通了。不過這些二創三創的東西，每個人理解都不一樣。我也就轉述一下別人的想法，聽聽就好。😁
