For people that haven’t watched this, this isn’t really a serious anime. It’s mostly a parody that playfully makes fun of the common magical girl tropes, but at the same time being its own entity. I recommend it for the sheer hilarity of it.
I know magical girls are popular but it would be nice if we had more magical boy anime shows. This anime is one of my favorites! I hope they do make season 2.

Frankly, people think both sexual side that end up not realizing that this anime was created to end the cliché always be little girls who use magic, and entertain the public bringing new things! Nobody wants the same thing all the time, something new is always welcome. I fell for this anime, and I do not care with unnecessary comments homophobic idiots.

I'm in my 30s, and I think this is the cleverest and most refreshing anime I've seen in many years; I lose a bit of faith in humanity whenever a rare gem like this comes out and audiences start hating on the exceptional and beautiful things about it which had made it unique. (By the way: I'm aware this post turned out long, and I'm really sorry for that. Please feel free to skip it if it's too much to read). For those who hate on this show, I recognize you're probably trying to convey some idea intended as support of equality or fairness, but, with all due respect, I think you have it all wrong. Nowadays, about 90% of anime features very gratuitous male-oriented fan service and lesbian moments; even animes that are advertised as gearing to general audiences and for all ages are full of upskirt shots, females grabbing each other's breasts, and gratuitous female nudity.This isn't empowering; it depicts women as docile parlor pets who are important for their most basic, vulnerable and intimate physical parts. Even when female characters are supposedly powerful in an anime, they still have to appear like eye candy, and are meant to be important first and foremost for their private bodily areas. They're stripped of their dignity and presented like trained pets at a show, meant to entertain and amuse audiences-- not FIRSTLY for their clever ideas, strength of character, creativity, or wit-- but BEFORE ALL ELSE, for their basic naked bodies (when there's an intelligent heroine in an anime or western show, how often have you seen her not also depicted as being physically attractive? The more powerful a female is in a story, the more blatantly her sex appeal is advertised-- and not for reasons you should be happy about). This way, male audiences don't have to feel intimidated by powerful female characters, and they can feel that they, the audiences, are dignified in comparison (there isn't scrutiny and judgment directed at THEIR most private parts; THEY are the ones passing judgment as far as 'hot enough' or 'not hot enough'). Incidentally, my intent isn't to hate on or blame males in particular, this isn't their fault as a gender-- I blame the writers of these shows for depicting things this way, and audiences of either gender for not speaking up about things that give women this sort of image. (After all, what incentive do creators and writers have to change anything if no one complains? They produce what they think will be met with success, and if you support these shows because you choose to "ignore the degrading parts in an effort to stay positive," what the creators see is that everyone is happy, and that no one really minds the parts that are degrading to women). But anyway, in comparison with the overwhelming number of animes and western shows with male-oriented fan service, animes featuring female-oriented fan service in the form of naked guys are extremely rare and very far between. If you are supportive of women's empowerment, you should absolutely not dislike things like this-- it's so rare for a show, be it eastern or western, to feature guys with the express purpose of being entertainment for women due to their naked bodies. The sort of lesbian moments featured in animes (and western shows) aren't meant to empower women or show diversity or acceptance; they're meant to depict lesbians and women in general as harmless and non-threatening pets provided for viewers' entertainment. That's incredibly degrading, and it's so rampant in anime it's practically impossible not to come across. This show is rare in that not only does it turn the tables around and makes guys into the objectified, entertaining pets who are reduced to their bodies, but in that it cleverly pokes fun of all the things in magical girl animes that have ever made women look like cute pets you can't really take seriously-- things which are sugarcoated as being presumably somehow empowering, but which in actuality are insulting. This show is also very clever in that it's full of double meanings and innuendo, it's tremendously refreshing. If you're going to say you're tired of female audiences liking yaoi, or of yaoi shows in general, then before doing that go to the countless animes that are chock full of lesbian moments and gratuitous male-oriented fan service, and hate on those first-- because there are far more of those than there are of yaoi. If anything, we could use much more of this sort of show. But if a rare, clever anime like this, which actually IS empowering to female audiences-- in the way that it turns the tables and for once lets us be the ones to pass judgment on the vulnerable, intimate parts of guys' bodies-- is met with disapproval from women, why would anyone in their right mind risk making more shows like this?

I am asking because yaoi and the anime that objectify woman show a fair amount of both sexes but this one as I have noticed has a very strong lack of females. then again I could mistaken
cielo987 Sadly, more often than not, I find that when females are included in anime (and many western shows as well), it is done in a way that is more degrading than empowering-- to the point where I'd rather not see them included at all. It's extremely rare that a female in an anime is strong in character without also being made into a sex object or eye candy-- or that she's depicted in a way you can really take seriously without being some kind of silly ornament or pet. The kind of woman I'd like to see in an anime as empowered would be one who isn't "cute and pretty," isn't somehow vulnerable and sweet, and isn't very young-- you know, the way men are usually depicted as being powerful. The thing that's empowering to women about binan koko is that the anime itself is meant to represent guys as being playthings for women's enjoyment, which is extremely, extremely rare (it's pretty much always the other way around). This is also empowering to women because it is blatant criticism of the degrading way women are usually depicted in magical girl animes-- you can't watch binan koko without being made aware of how ridiculous women look in magical girl animes,where they're presented as supposedly being empowered, but in truth they are made to appear like ridiculous and cute playthings you can't really take seriously. This anime is like a soothing breeze after you've tried watching ten other animes which are presented as supposedly being geared to general audiences, only to be faced with increasingly blatant male-oriented fan service out of the blue, over and over again-- like the writers had ignored half their viewer base, who don't want to see young women stripping and grabbing each other's chests every single time they watch an anime of any genre. This anime is meant to have women look down on men the same way men look down on women in magical girl animes, which is supposedly "empowering" to us.
Rainy Jane Now, while I agree with just about everything you've put on a page, and while yes anime does have a history of over sexualising their female characters, I do think you're being a bit unfair towards the genre as a whole. Before I really say anything else, I just want to point out that in terms of actually having female leads and powerful female characters, I think anime is a fair way ahead of western media, just my opinion. Now onto your point about their being no or very few female leads in anime. I understand where you're coming from and how yes there is a lacking of strong female characters. However I am going to point out to you some examples where this is by far not that case. I'd advise you to check out Fate Zero/Stay Night, looking for Saver, one of the least sexualised characters in anime IMO, Hellsing ultimate for Integra, and to a slightly lesser extent Seras, as she is still slightly sexualised however is still an incredible badass. I'd also point you to check out RWBY which has an entire cast of strong female characters who have on several occasions saved their counterpart male leads from situations. While those examples are only a limited sampling they are still there and I do think you should touch on them before you demonize anime as a whole. You do without a doubt have some good points however I do think you're ignoring some key aspects of anime as a genre. Anime by nature is a very tropey or trope centric type of media. Characters in anime will often follow one trope or another this is true for both female AND male leads, i.e. protagonist sitting in the window seat. These tropes are often some of the defining factors about characters, leading many male characters to being as if not more faceless than their female counterparts. As for the over sexualisation of female characters well honestly you are right there, it is something that exists and heavily influences anime as a whole. However at times, they go so over the top, that it becomes more of tool for comedy than anything else. Just thought I should chip in here, because I do think you were being a little unfair on anime as whole. Good speech though.
I'll have to agree with this comment. Girls in anime are always depicted as slutty, which is hardly ever the case in real life. As I admit this anime is a better take on anime than some others, I still dislike it as it is a rip-off of many other anime's. Tokyo Mew Mew, Sailor Moon, and Madoka Magica are just to name a few.

Ever wondered why Sailor Moon or Doremi ect are NEVER recognized when they transform? or being recognized when they have their usal lifes? Well, the creator of SM and Precure or DoReMi never bat an eye to explain that. But those guys gave the explaination: "advanced alien technology". We call it: "in term to protect the personal rights" :´D Or why the protagonists are acting strange after they transformed? Well, that´s not their fault: it´s because the magic makes them to do so. And don´t forget the possibility SOMEBODY from outer space might actually thought it was cool- because it´s considered as cool on his planet. It´s so hilarious, just go and watch the full episodes. And don´t do that here: the episodes here are rather in a silly quality and size... you´ll see (google it for better versions :) )
Lol I already watched it and loved it to boot, especially their way of taking things felt real and even if it wasn't as dramatic as the struggle in mahou shoujo madoka magica it wasn't less powerful in its own contest, yet the first impression from just the transformation video was of pure bewilderment (that's exactly why I looked up the episode). Edogawa Conan I lost track of the entire series since they kept adding more and more that I just had to take a break from it. XD The latest movie did peek up my interests in continuing where I left off. At least it makes up for the previous one(Pretty Cure All Stars Spring Carnival♪)... that movie was confusing at times.
This anime made it into my top 10 after the very first episode. It's rare to see magical boys (even though the world needs more of this). It was such a refreshment for me, especially since I'm slowly starting out with watching animes again after a long break.
I love this show so much and I am so happy there is season 2, especially since it is so difficult to find Magical boy anime's instead of magical girls ones. Magical girls kind of get boring over time, so something like this is like a smack of fresh air :D I wish they would do more of these kinds of anime. If anyone have any kind of recommendations on magical boy anime, then list them down below. I have watched Kore wa Zombie desu ka; Kamigami no Asobi and Kampfer which I recommend to watch if you haven't :D And guise stop saying this is gay. I'm in my 30s, and I think this is the cleverest and most refreshing anime I've seen in many years; I lose a bit of faith in humanity whenever a rare gem like this comes out and audiences start hating on the exceptional and beautiful things about it which had made it unique. (By the way: I'm aware this post turned out long, and I'm really sorry for that. Please feel free to skip it if it's too much to read).
For those who hate on this show, I recognize you're probably trying to convey some idea intended as support of equality or fairness, but, with all due respect, I think you have it all wrong. Nowadays, about 90% of anime features very gratuitous male-oriented fan service and lesbian moments; even animes that are advertised as gearing to general audiences and for all ages are full of upskirt shots, females grabbing each other's breasts, and gratuitous female nudity.This isn't empowering; it depicts women as docile parlor pets who are important for their most basic, vulnerable and intimate physical parts. Even when female characters are supposedly powerful in an anime, they still have to appear like eye candy, and are meant to be important first and foremost for their private bodily areas.
They're stripped of their dignity and presented like trained pets at a show, meant to entertain and amuse audiences-- not FIRSTLY for their clever ideas, strength of character, creativity, or wit-- but BEFORE ALL ELSE, for their basic naked bodies (when there's an intelligent heroine in an anime or western show, how often have you seen her not also depicted as being physically attractive? The more powerful a female is in a story, the more blatantly her sex appeal is advertised-- and not for reasons you should be happy about).
This way, male audiences don't have to feel intimidated by powerful female characters, and they can feel that they, the audiences, are dignified in comparison (there isn't scrutiny and judgment directed at THEIR most private parts; THEY are the ones passing judgment as far as 'hot enough' or 'not hot enough'). Incidentally, my intent isn't to hate on or blame males in particular, this isn't their fault as a gender-- I blame the writers of these shows for depicting things this way, and audiences of either gender for not speaking up about things that give women this sort of image. (After all, what incentive do creators and writers have to change anything if no one complains? They produce what they think will be met with success, and if you support these shows because you choose to "ignore the degrading parts in an effort to stay positive," what the creators see is that everyone is happy, and that no one really minds the parts that are degrading to women).
But anyway, in comparison with the overwhelming number of animes and western shows with male-oriented fan service, animes featuring female-oriented fan service in the form of naked guys are extremely rare and very far between. If you are supportive of women's empowerment, you should absolutely not dislike things like this-- it's so rare for a show, be it eastern or western, to feature guys with the express purpose of being entertainment for women due to their naked bodies.
The sort of lesbian moments featured in animes (and western shows) aren't meant to empower women or show diversity or acceptance; they're meant to depict lesbians and women in general as harmless and non-threatening pets provided for viewers' entertainment. That's incredibly degrading, and it's so rampant in anime it's practically impossible not to come across. This show is rare in that not only does it turn the tables around and makes guys into the objectified, entertaining pets who are reduced to their bodies, but in that it cleverly pokes fun of all the things in magical girl animes that have ever made women look like cute pets you can't really take seriously-- things which are sugarcoated as being presumably somehow empowering, but which in actuality are insulting.
This show is also very clever in that it's full of double meanings and innuendo, it's tremendously refreshing. If you're going to say you're tired of female audiences liking yaoi, or of yaoi shows in general, then before doing that go to the countless animes that are chock full of lesbian moments and gratuitous male-oriented fan service, and hate on those first-- because there are far more of those than there are of yaoi. If anything, we could use much more of this sort of show. But if a rare, clever anime like this, which actually IS empowering to female audiences-- in the way that it turns the tables and for once lets us be the ones to pass judgment on the vulnerable, intimate parts of guys' bodies-- is met with disapproval from women, why would anyone in their right mind risk making more shows like this?
ok. I get and understand everything your saying but do you include the incredible lack of females as empowering to them as well? I am asking because yaoi and the anime that objectify woman show a fair amount of both sexes but this one as I have noticed has a very strong lack of females. then again I could mistaken
cielo987 Sadly, more often than not, I find that when females are included in anime (and many western shows as well), it is done in a way that is more degrading than empowering-- to the point where I'd rather not see them included at all. It's extremely rare that a female in an anime is strong in character without also being made into a sex object or eye candy-- or that she's depicted in a way you can really take seriously without being some kind of silly ornament or pet. The kind of woman I'd like to see in an anime as empowered would be one who isn't "cute and pretty," isn't somehow vulnerable and sweet, and isn't very young-- you know, the way men are usually depicted as being powerful.
The thing that's empowering to women about binan koko is that the anime itself is meant to represent guys as being playthings for women's enjoyment, which is extremely, extremely rare (it's pretty much always the other way around). This is also empowering to women because it is blatant criticism of the degrading way women are usually depicted in magical girl animes-- you can't watch binan koko without being made aware of how ridiculous women look in magical girl animes,where they're presented as supposedly being empowered, but in truth they are made to appear like ridiculous and cute playthings you can't really take seriously. This anime is like a soothing breeze after you've tried watching ten other animes which are presented as supposedly being geared to general audiences, only to be faced with increasingly blatant male-oriented fan service out of the blue, over and over again-- like the writers had ignored half their viewer base, who don't want to see young women stripping and grabbing each other's chests every single time they watch an anime of any genre.
This anime is meant to have women look down on men the same way men look down on women in magical girl animes, which is supposedly "empowering" to us.
Rainy Jane Now, while I agree with just about everything you've put on a page, and while yes anime does have a history of over sexualising their female characters, I do think you're being a bit unfair towards the genre as a whole.
Before I really say anything else, I just want to point out that in terms of actually having female leads and powerful female characters, I think anime is a fair way ahead of western media, just my opinion.
Now onto your point about their being no or very few female leads in anime. I understand where you're coming from and how yes there is a lacking of strong female characters. However I am going to point out to you some examples where this is by far not that case. I'd advise you to check out Fate Zero/Stay Night, looking for Saver, one of the least sexualised characters in anime IMO, Hellsing ultimate for Integra, and to a slightly lesser extent Seras, as she is still slightly sexualised however is still an incredible badass. I'd also point you to check out RWBY which has an entire cast of strong female characters who have on several occasions saved their counterpart male leads from situations.
While those examples are only a limited sampling they are still there and I do think you should touch on them before you demonize anime as a whole. You do without a doubt have some good points however I do think you're ignoring some key aspects of anime as a genre. Anime by nature is a very tropey or trope centric type of media. Characters in anime will often follow one trope or another this is true for both female AND male leads, i.e. protagonist sitting in the window seat. These tropes are often some of the defining factors about characters, leading many male characters to being as if not more faceless than their female counterparts.
As for the over sexualisation of female characters well honestly you are right there, it is something that exists and heavily influences anime as a whole. However at times, they go so over the top, that it becomes more of tool for comedy than anything else.
Just thought I should chip in here, because I do think you were being a little unfair on anime as whole. Good speech though.
I'll have to agree with this comment. Girls in anime are always depicted as slutty, which is hardly ever the case in real life. As I admit this anime is a better take on anime than some others, I still dislike it as it is a rip-off of many other anime's. Tokyo Mew Mew, Sailor Moon, and Madoka Magica are just to name a few.

I am so sorry to tell you but... I doubt it. It´s the best spoof of EVERY Magical girl anime I EVER watched. I am crying tears because I can´t stop laughing. Ever wondered why Sailor Moon or Doremi ect are NEVER recognized when they transform? or being recognized when they have their usal lifes? Well, the creator of SM and Precure or DoReMi never bat an eye to explain that. But those guys gave the explaination: "advanced alien technology". We call it: "in term to protect the personal rights" :´D
Or why the protagonists are acting strange after they transformed? Well, that´s not their fault: it´s because the magic makes them to do so. And don´t forget the possibility SOMEBODY from outer space might actually thought it was cool- because it´s considered as cool on his planet.
It´s so hilarious, just go and watch the full episodes. And don´t do that here: the episodes here are rather in a silly quality and size... you´ll see (google it for better versions :) )
Lol I already watched it and loved it to boot, especially their way of taking things felt real and even if it wasn't as dramatic as the struggle in mahou shoujo madoka magica it wasn't less powerful in its own contest, yet the first impression from just the transformation video was of pure bewilderment (that's exactly why I looked up the episode).

This anime made it into my top 10 after the very first episode. It's rare to see magical boys (even though the world needs more of this). It was such a refreshment for me, especially since I'm slowly starting out with watching animes again after a long break.

I love this show so much and I am so happy there is season 2, especially since it is so difficult to find Magical boy anime's instead of magical girls ones. Magical girls kind of get boring over time, so something like this is like a smack of fresh air :D I wish they would do more of these kinds of anime. If anyone have any kind of recommendations on magical boy anime, then list them down below. I have watched Kore wa Zombie desu ka; Kamigami no Asobi and Kampfer which I recommend to watch if you haven't :D And guise stop saying this is gay.
