Honestly I think it is ok. Garie (originally) went out the way she wanted. She wanted to make an impact, be first, and further the plan. She did all of those things. The funny thing is that I don't think she needed to be accepted. She died fulfilled in both cases. Protecting Carol's goals and plans in the first case and protecting her body in the second. It is true Garie was frustrated by being the one that didn't smash a pendant herself. And some of her conflicts with Maria and Hibiki were unsatisfying. But I don't get the feeling that she was unhappy.

To a degree they had the autonomy to choose how they got their jobs done. Losing to Maria compared to anyone else doesn't diminish Garie. She built up a connection with Maria through nearly damaging Gungnir herself when Maria was using it. So she decided to make up for that by using Maria to finish her role in the plan. The better question is why not Maria? Carol designed the autoscorers and Ignite. She set up their strengths to match up so the Symphogear users could win when using Ignite. It didn't matter who faced who.
