    Finally, someone makes a video about the original 1-DX! Don't see too much content about it.

    • @DavidCuhls
      @DavidCuhls  3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Haha, actually there are a lot of videos about the original 1dx but since they are so old and the mark II and mark iii version are more popular, TH-cam’s algorithm just pushed the original 1dx videos down or don’t display them at all... you really have to spend time and dig... but thanks so much for watching and for commenting! Means a lot! ☺️ hope you have a great time and have fun shooting! ☺️☺️

    I have a 1dx & 5Div. The 1dx is basically brand new (2000 shutter count) I actually prefer the output of the 1dx compared to my 5d4. I shoot a 600f4 w/1.4 & 2x converters regularly and the 1dx's larger pixels are much more forgiving. 18mp is more than enough resolution. I've printed 30x40's with a 8.2mp 20D back in the day.

    • @DavidCuhls
      @DavidCuhls  3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Yes indeed, the 18mp is definitely more than enough resolution. I know photographers who used to use the 1dx to photograph for movie posters that would later be printed for the side of shopping malls. Sure, the details on the 5d mark iv is definitely better but in terms of resolution, the 1dx is definitely more than good enough. That being said, I really love the skin tones and colour science from the original 1dx. :-) It is by far my favourite Canon colour science :-)

    I got my hands on an original 1DX last year at a good price, and love it. I use many, many cameras including Canon 5d(original) 5d4 MK IV, 6D MK II, and the R6. I tend to love my gear and continue to use older gear despite new purchases. Not hard up for cash so not into selling old gear I still use. Anyway, the 1DX, even today, produces amazing images. It's not my all-around goto camera because of it's weight, and when travelling i prefer something smaller, but still it's an awesome camera.

      Thank you for sharing your story and congratulations on getting it for a good price! Yes, the original 1DX is still a good camera and I love the colour science out of the 1DX more than any other Canon cameras that I've tried/have. It is amazing how amazing results this camera is able to produce and also how reliable it is. Thank you so much for watching and also for spending the time to share your story, very much appreciated. I wish you a great time, stay safe and have fun shooting! :-)

      @@DavidCuhls great stuff. I too bought an immaculate 1dx mk1 body about a week ago…your video inspired the purchase. It is everything I wanted in a professional camera. The dual CF slots and buffer is a dream. I actually do not want or need CFast technology and I’m not worried about the dual pixel AF and touch screen either as I’m into still photography. I’ll let you know how my first wedding shoot went. Happy shooting.

    Just want to point out that Billboards are especially suited for "low res" images. Viewing distances are what's important when you consider resolution, as no matter how high it is, if you're close enough it'll look blurry.

    Would you recommend it for wildlife and low-light?

    • @DavidCuhls
      @DavidCuhls  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      On a budget, I would highly recommend this camera for wildlife and lowlight. The autofocusing system on this camera is still nice, reliable and accurate, the lowlight performance in the image quality, if you set it properly, it will still give great results. :-) It's a very tough camera, which is a bonus for wildlife photography. The colour science, colour depth and colour rendition is still very nice and I to be honest prefer it over my R5 for the colour science and rendition. That said, don't expect it to be as fast and as accurate as the more modern mirrorless cameras like the R5/R6, A1, etc. simply because of it's age. But once you are used to it and can set the camera properly for the situation that you are in, then it will not fail you and will deliver great results for sure. Hope that helps. I thank you very much for watching, stay safe and have fun shooting! :-)

    I just picked up a 1dx and I really love it. I wanted to ask you is there a big difference between the 1dx and the 1dx mark II?

    • @DavidCuhls
      @DavidCuhls  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Congratulations on getting the camera! It's still such a nice camera to use that still deliver great results as well being very reliable and I am sure you will create great results with it. :-) Regarding the differences between the 1dx and the 1dx mark ii, I think that depends on the priority. For me, there is a huge difference between the two because even though I love the colour science out of the 1dx classic, the 1dx mark ii's files are far superior and you can do so much more with them without them falling apart. The AF performance is also much more accurate as well as much faster in all lighting situations. The faster frames per second and the higher constant illumination of AF points feature is also another game changer for me that I love about the 1dx mark ii. The AF system in live-view mode is also another great feature when working in awkward angle as well as so much faster to operate as well. But if you are into video, then there is definitely a much bigger gap between the 1dx classic and the 1dx mark ii since Canon really added a lot of features as well as having higher bit-rate in the 1dx mark ii's video mode that just changes everything. Even if you don't shoot 4k, the 1dx mark ii's full HD is much sharper with more details and dynamic range than the footage from the 1dx classic. But at the end of the day, it all comes down to your priorities and how you shoot that also justify which camera is better suited for your needs since (to me at least) they are both two very different beasts. Hope that helps. I thank you very much for watching as well as for sharing your story, very much appreciated it. I wish you a great time, stay safe and have fun shooting! :-)

    Hi.
    I could get a 1d-x with the 50mm f1.8 for 500€. The shutter count is about 580.000. Would you say that's a good deal or do you think the shutter count is too high?

    • @DavidCuhls
      @DavidCuhls  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I’d say it’s a pretty good deal. These cameras are made to go through a lot of tough environments, so don’t care too much about the shutter count. I used to know photographers who use it well beyond after a million shutter count... so don’t worry too much, these are reliable cameras ☺️☺️
      Hope that helps a bit. Thank you for watching, hope you have a great time, stay safe and have fun shooting! :-)

    • @DavidCuhls
      @DavidCuhls  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Haha, I think it depends on what kind of wedding photographers you are. I know some wedding photographers who already gets the newest flagship cameras. Some friends of mine uses the 1dx mark ii, r5 and r6 for the wedding and some event shoots. That being said, professional cameras are built to last even after several generations have past. So even though it's old, the image quality and reliability is still great. :-)
      Personally, I really like the colour science and the colour reproduction from the 5d mark iii and the canon eos 1dx the most. I do have the R as well but I still much prefer the colour from the 1dx and the 5d mark iii the most out of all the cameras that I've used... So I guess that it is also comes down to personal preference of colour science as well when picking cameras for the field you shoot :-) New cameras just doesn't really offer the same type of colour that older cameras has (probably for both good and bad) :-)
      Nice to know that I have a Vietnamese viewer, I am Thai/German :-)

Been eyeballing one for a while now since I’ve sold my 5D Mk II and since I’m getting into wildlife and some motorsport stuff I felt like this would be a sensible choice.

    • @DavidCuhls
      @DavidCuhls  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sorry for a very late reply and by this time you might have already made your decision but I'd like to still reply in case it might still be able to help~~ I think that for the price, the 1dx is definitely worth it in my opinion. The files are very nice and natural look yet have unique look to them. Furthermore, it is a very reliable and tough camera, which is also good for wildlife. Though the autofocusing system have aged a bit but it is also still reliable once your are used to it. :-) So if you are getting into wildlife photography on a budget, I think that this camera with good lenses will definitely make a huge difference for sure. :-) Even though many of the offerings may have a lot of shutter count, I think it doesn't really matter since these cameras were built to last for a very long time under tough conditions. My 1dx has more than 200k shutter at this point and it is still going strong. I guess my most exptreme example would be my 1ds mark iii has more than 1 million shutter count and it is also still going strong. So no need to think too much about the shutter count unless if the seller is charging too much for the higher shutter count... Hope that helps at least a little... I thank you very much for watching and I wish you all the best with your photography path! I am sure you'll produce some great results. I wish you a great time, stay safe and have fun shooting! :-)

      @DavidCuhls  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you for watching and for the compliment, really appreciated it. :-) Regarding your question, I honestly don't know any special websites... When I buy secondhand cameras, I just mainly also look at eBay, local common secondhand websites and local camera stores secondhand section... I do understand that it can be tricky looking at different offers and judge whether or not it's a real offer. However, I think that if you take simple precautions like looking at the ratings of the seller, feedback that other buyers have left for the seller, the description of the products as well as how long the seller have been selling on the platform for then you can get a more concrete idea of whether if the seller is real or a scam... I hope that helps somewhat. I thank you very much again for watching and also for the compliment. I wish you a great time, stay safe and have fun shooting! :-)

    • @DavidCuhls
      @DavidCuhls  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Congrats on the camera, it is still a great camera. :-) Regarding the iso, I personally haven't had any problems with the noise shooting at iso 400 even in the low light and pulling up the shadows quite a bit yet... I am not sure if it's a particular model camera thing or if it's more of the way we shoot could be different thus the results are also different. That being said, with digital cameras, the camera behaves differently with different iso settings. certain lower iso settings can show more noise (in general) than certain higher iso values... And the 1dx definitely has a good range of iso value selections to use and get lower noise image quality :-)
