Ok have a question now. I'm working on the sleeves of the Star Stitch raglan baby sweater. It says to work in stockinet stitch, at the same time decrease 1 stitch each side every 10 rows. What kind of decrease am I suppose to be doing. It's going well and I don't want to make a mistake Thanks
I do one of two ways. #1 way K1, SSK, Knit to last 3 sts, K2tog, K1. #2 way, K2tog, Knit to last 2 sts, K2tog. I prefer the first way because it gives me a single stitch on both sides of sleeves when I sew it together. I think it’s a nicer finish. But both ways work just fine.

Hi, I've just brought this lovely pattern, I'm wondering if it is size 6mm needles ( these seemed large for a baby cardigan) or if it's size 6- which is size 4mm needles? Thanks
Working on straight needles will be a challenge. The total amount of stitches at its fullest point is between 155 for new born and 211 for 1 year. There are needles out there that have a long nylon tail with a button on the end. They are between 16” and 24”. If you can find them. That would give you the extra length you would need to be able to put all the stitches on a straight needle.

You repeat the rows in succession. 1 thru 4. Rows 1 and 3 on done on the front side of the sweater and 2 and 4 on the back side (Purl side) but these 2 rows are knitted even though it is on the purl side. Let me know if this helps

But, remember a larger needle makes the stitches looser. Or you can use a light worsted weight yarn with a 7 needle to make the 12 months size bigger. NOTE: before making the entire jacket, I would to a swatch to see how knitted stitch works out in gauge.
I have been knitting for two years - bought this pattern and found it very difficult to follow. Could not follow how to separate the sleeve and did not understand if sleeve should increase at beginning of each row. So confusing. #sigh

It's me again. I bought the pattern, but still don't get it. Why would I need to cast off 55 stiches for the neck. It's far too many. Also What does PM stand for. FYI: NON of the email addresses you provided me works. They all get failed :(
You can add stitches to neck to enlarge it. In repeats of 6. That will add approx an 1” to the width. Then adjust the amount of stitches as you increase for the Yoke.
To slip one as if to knit means to insert your needle in the next stitch like you would to knit the stitch. But instead of wrapping the yarn around the needle, you simply slip the stitch off the left needle with the right needle. And to slip one as if to purl means to slip the right needle into the first stitch on left needle like you would tonpurl the stitch, as with the other stitch you don’t wrap yarn around the needle, just slip stitch off left needle with right needle and that stitch is finished

Same here. I would rather knit in the round. But, baby sleeves are not easy to do in the round. I don’t mind sewing a 6” seam. Much easier

Can this sweater be knitted on circular needles in the round/
I'm sure it can, you would have to adjust the stitch count on the front because the button bands would not be needed.
It is designed as a cardigan. T would take some thinking, but you could make in the round after you were past the Yoke. Otherwise you would not be able to get it over the head

You can add stitches to neck to enlarge it. In repeats of 6. That will add approx an 1” to the width. Then adjust the amount of stitches as you increase for the Yoke.

Too fast! And what is "slip one as if to knit" vs. "slip one as if to purl"? You went very fast in the beginning. Cute sweater and thank you.
To slip one as if to knit means to insert your needle in the next stitch like you would to knit the stitch. But instead of wrapping the yarn around the needle, you simply slip the stitch off the left needle with the right needle. And to slip one as if to purl means to slip the right needle into the first stitch on left needle like you would tonpurl the stitch, as with the other stitch you don’t wrap yarn around the needle, just slip stitch off left needle with right needle and that stitch is finished

That's a very unkind thing to say. This lady has spent a lot of time writing out this baby sweater pattern AND making 2 helpful videos with tips on how to construct the sweater. If you don't want to spend $ for her work there are plenty of free patterns out there. Don't characterize her for charging a measly $3.
