    In this V-ray 5 for Sketchup Materials Tutorial, you'll see how to Create vray Realistic Materials using Free PBR Texture. You'll also see how the new Generic Material works in V-ray 5 with the Coat and Sheen Properties. You will also see the difference between the Metalness workflow and the Specular workflow using one Generic material. I'll also show you examples of both V-ray Coat and Sheen and explain all the parameters. The goal is that you will be able to Apply PBR Textures, Modify PBR Textures, and apply in the correct color space so you can get the best rendering results. In this video I used some textures from CC0textures, their resources are a great way to get free vray materials for SketchUp. Photo-Based Rendering as been around for years and is available in V-ray 5 for SketchUp.

    You offer some of the best explanations I have seen for using V-Ray... I use Lumion as well but cannot help but see the class of V-ray. Understanding V-ray seems daunting when compared to Lumion. V-ray interiors are great but I like the simplicity of Lumion

    • @TN3DStudio
      @TN3DStudio  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you Cleve 😊, I don't blame you. softwares like lumion, D5, and enscape User interfase make it extremely easy to produce top quality renders. V-ray interface can use a bit of that thats why it time to get used to it.

    I would also be interested in seeing how you go about creating the chain link fence material from poligon as the "diffuse" appears to be a mixtures of 2 textures with one being a mask rather than a single PNG with transparent background.

    Amazing tutorial as always. If I use a glosiness map on metalness workflow, is it gonna work? Is it better to use it as roughness and invert the texture in vray?

    • @TN3DStudio
      @TN3DStudio  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thabks Ramon, it works either way because both textures are inverts. As long as you know that you'll be fine with whatever method you choose 😊

    first of all, i really helped by your vids!!! thanks friend. can you explain how to use megascan imperfections files in vray 5??
    in twinmotion, i just put it on the reflection file, but in sketchup vray i'm not sure where the proper place.

    arent there some cases where reflection/specular maps are srgb? ive seen reflection maps with colours and in some cases work with srgb color space. i'm kind of confused, is it a bit more a of a grey zone with this or black and white like bump and linear spacing?

  • @vivijanoz
    @vivijanoz ปีที่แล้ว

    Hey, great tutorial but sometimes the materials come in different maps and things become confusing...
    For me it came in Diffuse, Normal, Bump and Secularity... Now I'm a bit unsure where to put the Secularity map.
    Please help 😅

    great knowledge but one ques sir.
    adding displacement as object modifier..we have to make this step every time we apply this texture to other surface, it is not working as copy paste texture( for the displacement map by adding it via vray object) but indeed it gives realistic render/
    thanks

    • @TN3DStudio
      @TN3DStudio  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm really trying to understand what you mean. Can you be more specific. I know displacement application will take some getting used to, :)

      @@TN3DStudio
      greetings!
      I definitely am able to create displacement thing you taught,
      my question is- once i apply displacement map with vray object (say it is in model 1.skp)
      then i copy the plane with texture to other file(model 2.skp) , so vray displacement will be lost at time i copy it.
      any way that i can save displacement object in vrmat format (so i dont have to add dis. map evry time i use it in different SU files).
      thanks a lot

  • @Strippyx
    @Strippyx 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Not sure what the point is of removing the displacement map. Basically they made it harder to create to save materials, since you have to add the displacement every single time. Does the displacement follow the texture? If you scale or rotate it?

    • @TN3DStudio
      @TN3DStudio  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Totally agree with you on that. Its a few steps too many for me to add displacement this way. BUT in my experience it renders much faster than the old method. Yes, The displacement follows the diffuse texture when you scale and rotate. Might take time to get used to this new way. :)

    • @TN3DStudio
      @TN3DStudio  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Andy, make sure the reflection color is white, Surface control change to roughness, and add the texture in the reflection roughness. Should work :)

      Hey Frank, I'm running on i7, 16GB, RTX 2070. Not sure but, make sure your GPU driver is up to day (could be a memory problem), if anything I would ask the chaosgroup support team, they will give you a much better solution.
