    Excellent. Looking forward to your experiments with two of them. For starters, from my experience reviewing this thing, I'd like to see a taste test between the same beer divided between two of them and have one ferment under natural pressure and carbonation and the other with the airlock only. From the one batch I did under pressure, it reminded me a bit of the old days of bottling with malt extract as the priming sugar.

      BEER-N-BBQ by Larry that is exactly why I bought the second one! Really curious about the results.. I guess I'll have to brew more! Darn! Lol
      Enjoyed your review as well! Cheers Larry! 🍻

    Awesome video as usual. Please note to use keg lube on the bottom connection. Mine was super clean and STILL froze in place twice. Second time had to cut it off and get new fittings

    Great tip on the gradation sticker application water trick thing. I just got one for Christmas. Will be picking up the pressure kit soon. I can't wait to try this baby out... Oh yeah, great job on the videos too... Big fan...

      Sweet... I'm sure that will come in handy too. I am currently using a home-made PBW that works great on all my other equipment. I'm hoping to be able to use it on my Fermentasaurus as well...

      Should work fine... MAKE SURE not to exceed 120 degree water temp.. it gets really ugly if you put hot water in one.. I have seen pictures... Yikes

    There is a red line on the gallon/litre marker tape that hints toward the proper place to put it on the fermentasaurus. That red line is meant to be placed directly on a little raised bump like seam that runs around the whole vessel just above the grey information sticker.

    • @ShortCircuitedBrewers
      @ShortCircuitedBrewers  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Gryer thanks for that info! They do not have any info in the manual about it. Cheers! 🍻

    • @Glargenas
      @Glargenas 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Happy to help! It is odd they don't have any info about where exactly to place the sticker. Wasn't until I saw a setup and unboxing video here on youtube I learned that. You taught me about the soapy water sticker application thing though, so thanks for that. hehe
      I hope you enjoy your twin fermentasaurs, got one for my father and I and we have been loving the unitank. Especially with a spunding valve, set it and forget it pressurized ferment and natural carb.
      Cheers!

      @ShortCircuitedBrewers  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      It is pretty odd.. I went down and and checked what you described and sure enough.. there is a red line.. I will mention it and acknowledge your "contribution" in the next video I do on them.. I think they should be a lot of fun to use.. I am looking forward to many experiments with them.. The soapy water trick work on about any sticker.. glad you found it helpful!! Cheers!

    The graduation sticker has a red line on it. If you position that red line so it's in line with the top plastic ridge before the unit starts to narrow it'll be in the correct place. No need to measure liquid out :)

    I'm using this with the pressure kit on a super-hopped IPA (5 gallon batch brewed with 10oz and will dry hop with an additional 4oz). I made a spunding valve to try with the pressure kit. About 12hrs in after pitching, we'll see how this goes!

    • @ShortCircuitedBrewers
      @ShortCircuitedBrewers  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      AWESOME! Please let me know how it goes! Very interested in your results! Cheers! 🍻

    • @jasonoates8552

      24hrs in and pressure is definitely holding! The homemade spunding valve seems to be working well and holding (maintaining 12psi from other sources, but basically guessing. Even if it's higher/lower than serving pressure, it's still more carbed than an airlock). A test of side-by-side (airlock/pressure) would be interesting on something with that'll generate a ton of krausen to see the difference. I'll have to take a video but the fermentation is really going now (2 packs of US-05 as I didn't have enough time to make a starter). The collection bottle is 90% hop goodness and the top part if liquid that is moving around. I've squeezed the bottle and articulated the butterfly valve to move some of the material around. Seems to be working well; I've made this batch in a Big Mouth Bubbler not long ago so this will be a good comparison; we'll see!

    I know the vide is quite old, but you don't happen to have the measurements of the Fermentasaurus with the air lock and the stand in place, do you? :) I have a horizontal freeze that I use as chamber, I am not sure if it would fit on the lower part of it.

      I don't know that they have a release date on the Gen 2 model yet. If I'm wrong let me know. I don't think he would go wrong with getting Gen 1 but the Gen 2 models certainly looks nice as well. Thanks for watching and commenting! Cheers👍🍻

      @@ShortCircuitedBrewers ya I haven't seen a release date yet . Have you had issues with the smaller valve on the bottom ? I know the new one is supposed to have a 2 inch valve. I like the idea of the larger vessel for my double batches in one container. This is definitely a more cost effective unitank compared to the spike I was looking at.

    • @ShortCircuitedBrewers
      @ShortCircuitedBrewers  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have not had any issues with the valve. I have not dry hop with any whole cone or anything like that so I can't speak to any trouble with that. I hope to get one when they put them out so I can do another video on that updated version. Stay tuned! Cheers Jeremy! 👍🍻

      @@ShortCircuitedBrewers one last question, thanks in advance. When you ferment under pressure are u putting the pressure cap on right after you pitch yeast or waiting until the tail end of fermentation to add the pressure cap. Also have you found any taste difference between a pressure fermentation vs non. Thanks again ,and keep up the good work.

    • @ShortCircuitedBrewers
      @ShortCircuitedBrewers  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      When I have pressure fermented I put it on at the beginning. My perception of the difference between the two is that the pressure fermentation is a cleaner flavor.

  • @MarkRife
    @MarkRife 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    It would be interesting to ferment the same brew side by side (under pressure vs. old school) and perhaps let the temperature run a bit higher than normal. Is there really a difference/advantage for the average brewer? I currently have to use a swamp cooler most the year (in my basement) to maintain a 68F fermentation. How much temperature is offset by pressure? I like the ability to capture the yeast!

    I wonder if you can ferment under pressure with the racking arm. I like to taste my beer while it is fermenting. It has made me a more consistent and better brewer. That's a but more important to me than fermenting under pressure.

    • @ShortCircuitedBrewers
      @ShortCircuitedBrewers  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Keg-King advises putting PBW or Sodium percarbonate in it and let it soak and it should release all of the trub and beer stone. I have a Mark II keg washer I am going to try and use with it. BE CAREFUL about hot water though.. says not to go over 120 degrees Fahrenheit on temp. Let me know if that works for you. Also are you using the pressure lid? Cheers! 🍻

    • @bigbadt444e
      @bigbadt444e 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Short Circuited Brewers yes I'm using the pressure lid. My first attempt wasn't quite successful. I think I had the lid cranked on too tight. And the O-ring blew out I wasn't using a spending valve at that point. I was able to put the lid back on and everything works fine for the rest of the fermentation. I approve Ashley been using a fast ferment this product is much better.
