The driver of the mustang is a friend from Inspection(aka Quality Control)...he drove the chase car to clock the sideways speed of the Conanche...I remember watching him that day ...I worked for Sikorsky West Palm Beach from Aug 86 to Mar 2000 and was present during the comoetition for the project and the development and first test flight...the test aircraft was xalled the 'Shadow'..an S-76with a tandem cockpit grafted onto the nose and a fenestron tail rotor installed in place of the standard 4 blade anti-torque rotor...
probably got bribed to cancel it . sad because America has some brilliant Engineering people. very clever ....I say keep "thinking outside the box USA and build it .
Whoever decided to pull the plug on the camanche program is a nut!! This helicopter was a lot more agile and maneuverable than the new SB-1 Defiant. Lighter too. It would've been the perfect attack chopper. And the ideal replacement for the Apache.

This thing had a fuel tank limitation that was astounding. It could barely go anywhere. The chassis size shouldve been built for logistical support and instead....it was built to look cool. It was loud. It was not hard to spot on radar. I know. It spooled up often at ft useless at the no such agency exists tarmac in virginia....I remember it taxxing while listening to congress approve funding for two prototypes to be built....meanwhile....it could fly for 10 minutes. We should've gotten a refund.
Stealth is nothing more than commercial word to sound cool for dumb fanbase. Atleast it sounds cooler than reduced RCS size and tons of other aviation terms. Many modern aircraft today could count as "Stealth", because of technology it uses.
This makes me so nostalgic of the early 2000s, and who ever said no to the Comanche was insane

Stealth also means protects from heat because all stealth aircraft have redouced heat signatures which a stinger would never lock on to.

It wasn't a comanche, it was a modified blackhawk with a lot of the traits (concerning stealth) of the comanche.
