Total respect to you JE Wilds i love what you are doing promoting educating old and young hunters along the way. I resently talked with Gerald Fluerty my good friend from National Park . I am originally from Rotorua but live here in Qld where we used to do guided hunts mainly on Red stags. Three years ago after covid i returned home to film /hunt Sambar deer unfortunately i had a fall and did a bit of damage to my old body. Present day im semi disabled , but that hasn't stopped or held me back from my passion Wild Deer Photography . Believe it or not but you are an inspiration to me as i could never do what you do along with Joe Fluerty. So heads up please continue what you are doing i look forward to your next adventure bro, kind regards Rob Harvey Wild Images Australia 😊
Hey Joe you have inspired me to go out and hunt man. I always hear you say the reason you make videos is to inspire other with your hunts. Just wanted to appreciate you mate for all your hard work and dedication! Cheers!
Thank you. I'm too old to hunt anymore, but really enjoying watching you getting out there amongst it. Just loved that you were patient enough to wait until the next day for that stag. Not many guys would be that that careful to make sure of the shot. Great example to young hunters. The scenery is stupendous, your filming is very professional. Just a pleasure to watch. Thank you again. Cheers.
I would really like to see how you break down the beast and get it home. I can imagine the TH-cam rules can be a bit difficult with things like that though.
Incredible hunt, J! Your expertise and dedication shine through in every shot. The way you strategize and patiently wait for the perfect moment to take down that stag is impressive. This video is not just about hunting; it's about respect for nature and the thrill of the chase. Well done
You really take us on a journey. I am from SOUTH AFRICA , some of the best hunting in the world but I now think NZ in those mountains is most definitely the best 👌
Doesn’t matter where you are in the mountains, when you have a scree chute like that, the angle is always the same. It’s steep and it’s tough going. And don’t start sliding cuz you don’t know when you’ll be able to stop. Beautiful animal, for sure.
I’d love to hear more stories about how brutal packing out all the meat is in your post video vlogs. Love your content!! Sending respect and good vibes from Texas!
Fantastic video, Joe. I love the content and the respect you show on all your films. It would have been interesting to see how you got the stag back up to camp and store it before the end of the trip. Regards from the UK.
As always love your post. You are among the first I have been following since I started hunting . I have learnt a lot from you and still doing as there is no end to learn new things . Cheers
Big hullo from Canada! Going hunting for the first time this year, your content has been one of my favorites in all my research / prep and got me most excited to get out and start doing it myself. Obviously different conditions where I'm at, but doesn't mean I can't take anything away from your experiences! And maybe one day I'll be lucky enough to hunt in NZ as well. Cheers!
Loving the vids! Especially your skill regarding how you talk to the camera! It genuinely makes us all feel like we’re on the mountain with you! As for one of your future “Outros”… how about unpacking what to look for in a good set of Binos? What magnification is best? And what field of view? Do the Binos really need a range finder? Etc, etc….
European glass. Zeiss, Leica, Swarovski etc. Look after the lenses religiously, & don't lend them. 8x is good, if competent & able to keep steady up to 12x can be used. Size & weight matter when on the hill. 10 x 40s are a good compromise, bigger lenses give a few minutes more in poor light. Quality gear costs. And much of the stuff salesmen experts peddle isn't that good, we like cheap or overpriced & easy. Range finders are good to have. But encourage long range shooting. Many animals are limping about or have died miserably due to that fad. They get edited. (It's easy to miss at close range also).
Totally agree bro those big boys are definitely worth waiting for. I finally managed my first big 12 point old boy this roar after years of hunting. Another great episode brother 🤙🤙
You’re getting some free gains on them hills mate. Well done on another film. I appreciate you taking us along on your journey. I would like to see what tools you use to process your deer on the out take. Thank you
I used to hunt every season except birds. I have taken quite a few white tail deer, a couple of moose, a pronghorn antelope, a few black bear; after some health problems I decided to trade my gun for a camera now 25 years later I hunt the UTube videos and enjoy most of them. Now 76 years old, and very limited health wise what I can do.
Great video as always man, it's next level 👌, but only criticism I have is would like to see more of the antlers after the shot, I found it such a huge build up and then such a short clip of the trophy was almost disappointing, I wanted to marvel at its glory alot longer. But again awesome video, keep up the great work 👍
Thanks mate and I will try for the future hunts, for me it doesn't generally cross my mind to film much of that but it's real good feedback! The antlers are hanging up in the Helirural hanger if your in Canterbury
@@j.e.wilds-hunting The measurements would be interesting. It's interesting seeing how the animals & country has evolved through the decades, including the antlers. Bruce Banwell's books are an interesting record for comparing the pre commercial period, & the current. The releasing of farm bred deer to "improve" the wild stuff is a pet peeve, the local herds each have their own traits that make them interesting, & despite the hammering they got when worth a dollar those traits survived. Overpopulation is probably due to seriously reduce quality again. As it did when the Acclimatisation Societies managed it like the GAC want to, restrictions and ecological damage & Adern-like ideals.
I was considering Bagara along with Fierce Arms. I bought the 300 Winmag. Very light and very accurate. Watching you shoot the Bagara has me thinking. Possibly a 6.5 Creedmoor. Great hunt!

That was awesome video Loved every moment. The country the scenery. Great voice overs great pictures. I know we have had to wait for sometime for these videos, but I truly think. This year’s hunting videos are next level.
Sketchy aye! The gopro just didn't do it just with how steep that was. Crazy to think I had long spikes on my feet in the shape of a crampon and still slipped! I'm hoping your youtube channel is all about hunting for coffee, haha that sounds like my type of channel
@@j.e.wilds-hunting That stuff with a layer of ice under the surface scree was something that used to make one pucker a bit. Encountering it when running across such places that get partial sun isn't nice. Especially if you have to go back the same way.
Epic vid man! Can’t wait for the next episode. Can relate to that minor heart attack you have when your animal isn’t quite in the spot you think it dropped 😂
The adventure is the best part. The country you rock around in, is so awesome. Definitely inspirational. Makes me just want to grab my Bagara and head for the hills too. Keep up the great work bro 👊🏻
