This scene gets me pretty emotional. Rita’s actress is excellent at capturing the put together actress who is very insecure. Even when she’s getting her food and pouring her gravy you can sense she’s afraid of being off putting to the kids. Her kindness comes across as an apology.
Excellent analysis. I only started watching a few days ago and I'm already into season 3. Rita ended up being my favorite and April Bowlby brings so much to the character. It's amazing.

I always thought it made perfect sense that some meta humans and people with super powers would need insanely high calorie and carb intakes because their abilities might burn up a lot of bodily energy. In one deadpool comic, wade gets shot up and killed then his powers resurrect him and afterwards he horks down over a dozen cheeseburgers, his buddy bob witnesses this and is impressed, deadpool says, "resurrection burns a lot of calories bob". heck even the flash says that his super speed burns so many calories and increases his metabolism so much that he's constantly snacking.
