    Honestly if anyone can figure out the dripleaf, it's probably Doc and his hivemind. The guy broke the ender dragon's AI to bring it into the overworld, used update suppression to teleport items between a chest and his inventory, shot an arrow through like 5000 blocks, and this season he's teleporting boats. He'll probably come up with some way to suppress updates on dripleaves or something.

    Since I live in a log cabin, I've always lamented the lack of good "log-looking" logs in Minecraft. I'm gonna give the signs-on-logs a try. Our home doesn't use daubing, as the logs are flattened on the top and bottom with tongue-and-groove shaping to add stability. So, I'm going to go with a lighter sign on darker logs, so that the logs become the shadow. That might just work! Thanks, BDubs!

    Bdubs I just wanna say how next-level great all your episodes have been this season. I know people tend to celebrate longer episodes just for being longer and giving us "more content" but you've really made incredible use of the longer format. You clearly put a lot of care into the pacing and editing, as you have for years now, rather than just freewheeling and letting things run long just because. I'm always blown away by what you come up with.

    • @Subatomicfish
      @Subatomicfish 20 วันที่ผ่านมา +15

      I can confirm that there is a way to do it... in 24w14potato. It's very easy in that one, all you have to do is move the dripleaf with a floatater while it's in the down state. The only thing that seems to update it are receiving a redstone signal (or adding another dripleaf on top manually, of course, but that changes the block so duh). You could pretty easily build a whole roof with them, get them in a downstate with armor stands, then shift the whole thing into place with a single floatater, and there you have it.

    • @Subatomicfish
      @Subatomicfish 18 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Also I figured out you can make floating versions of it by starting with it planted on farmland so the bounding box doesn’t connect to the block it’s placed on. Then you can float it into place. Either tilted down or not both look really good as overhangs or awnings imo

    I mean regarding the terracotta:
    Drying the mud is scalable, the more mud you place to dry the more clay you get in the same amount of time
    Harvesting the terracotta isn't scalable, you can only go as fast as you can mine it (I mean you can scale it with more people mining but outside that).
    Drying the mud requires passive time, time spent doing other things
    Harvesting the terracotta requires active time.
    Passive time can be counted as effectively no time, as it doesn't remove time from other tasks. Imagine you place the mud and start building, the time it takes for the mud to become clay can be ignored, it's the same time cost as if you started building, then stopped and instantly converted the mud to terracotta. The only active time spent is in the harvesting of dirt, turning dirt into mud, placing the mud, and harvesting the clay to put in the furnaces. That's the amount of time that's actually important to compare.
    Also considering you'd be destroying a mesa biome, you likely wouldn't want to harvest from the closest mesa, increasing the time to gather it directly by a slight amount.

    IDEA: Have like a dropper system up in the sky the dispenses an item every few correct ticks so an item is always weighing the leaf down. Have it high above so it's out of render distance. The items are dropped with a synchronized clock so by the time the plant is up, and item has already been dropped on it.

    For the clay machine you could semi-automate it. Instead of shoveling the mud you let it push it into a drying machine. Just store the mud in a block storage, and the dried clay at the end. Then you just dig the clay (or tnt chamber it) and refill the mud line occasionally.
    You can automatically make rooted dirt from a bonemeal farm but I can't recall if it requires player afk to make it into mud.

    You could put shulker sensors underground out of sight in areas you expect people to walk through or want people to walk through, and have those sensors activate a lil redstone machine that'll put a music disc into a juke box with a custom sound on it. You can have custom sounds of winds blowing, birds singing, squirrels and other nature sounds cycle randomly!
    It would sorta work similar to how the mailbox plays a sound when you have mail. Since it'd only be triggered when a player walks by or on a set path, I think it wouldn't cause much lag either and it'd add to the atmosphere you're building up

Peaceful, sometimes with a fruitful bounty, sometimes just laughing and relaxing. More often than not just enjoying the wildlife on the other side of the pond drinking or hunting little critters. He would teach me which herbs to pick for food, which fish were tasty and which plants to grow to sustain life in and around the pond.

    For the terracotta, gotta be a way to use pistons to automatically move the mud you make onto the drip stone. That way, it at least automates some of the process. Then maybe have a collection system that automatically takes broken clay and carries it to an auto smelter

    You could try putting some tree stump and/or fire wood outside the cabin for some more storytelling aspects :) ( ps I love the forest, it feels so minecrafty but also so real!)

    14:30 Another thing to consider, the Hermitcraft server has the re-dye mod pack. So they can collect white, yellow, what ever terracotta from a mesa and redye it what ever color they need.
    If you’re strictly vanilla. Smelting clay into terracotta is the way to go if you want large supplies of terracotta you can dye to whatever you need.

      except that most of the terracotta in a mesa is undyed, so it's still faster than gathering and smelting clay

      @@CDrocKS I bet you, I can collect and smelt a large amount of clay blocks into terracotta faster than I can find a Mesa without cheats.

    What a trick. Bdubs bringing the redstone community together and focusing all that brainpower on what will most effectively be an audio enhancement in the end.
    (This is slightly goofy of a comment; the fact that it actually works in a vanilla way is incredible!)
