He got anxiety from being so hard on his self trying to make his dad proud all the time and not fail but then Phil finally comes and says it’s okay basically. Especially the episode where Phil was like “ im always betting on you “

A beautiful way to end the second season. I think Carlton had to expose himself in public to get the necessary help. It's not the end of Hillary and Jazz. Hillary is going to remember why she broke up with LaMarcus in the first place.

Season 3 has already been greenlit. They got greenlit before this season started. Loved the recap. And I agree with the Jazz Hillary Lamarcus situation. Sometimes one doesn't get a second chance. Carlton and Ashley situation - that is a long road to healing. Personally been there with a family member... Phil Phil Phil....smdh... This season was a solid 9 Looking forward to season 3 !
I feel like him exposing himself to everyone was definitely necessary, because it wouldn’t have been fair to the student body, and everyone that was in the running for the founder’s award, for him to put on an act of a good, wholesome student, all the while, having that dark, sinister side to him..
Carlton really maned up in this episode by admitting he had a problem,when he could have kept lying to himself and everyone else but he stood ten toes down and confesses took a lot of courage.
When it comes to addiction it's not a time and place, because you will run and go back into denial. When it's time, it's time. Carlton is screaming out for help. Its not about looks and image anymore, it is supposed to be about support.

I don't think he's necessarily protecting Connor, as much as he didn't throw him under the bus and I think it would've been messed up if he did do so, not that I even like Connor. 1. Carlton is the one using, so if it wasn't Connor he'd just have another dealer. 2. Connor didn't throw him under the bus when the parents were meeting at Carlton's house, so it would've really been messed up to throw Connor under the bus.

I’m actually glad he said it to the whole school because at least now guidance counselors and teachers know to be on the look out and know that he needs help yes he could’ve said it to his parents/family but look how oblivious they are when his personality takes such a drastic turn. Other people who see him every day who can get him help knowing of his struggles with drugs and anxiety isn’t a bad thing. The student body didn’t need to know BUT again I don’t think the teachers and guidance counselors knowing is a bad thing because they can help the parents find resources AND he can talk to the guidance counselors in school when he is struggling.
Phil, oh Phil… the way he throws money in his family’s face and paints them as ungrateful when they don’t conform or live up to the façade of being perfect. He thinks it’s his job as the man to provide and decide what his family needs but he’s not really listening to them. Viv was right, it’s convenient how he gives her the suggestion to quit after he decides to through with his new venture. And Carlton, poor kid, finally manages to voice his issues about feeling inadequate and his struggle with the burden of trying to live up to his father’s impossibly high standards. Phil somewhat redeemed himself by regretting his reaction, telling Viv that they’ll figure it out together and going to comfort his son. It was going well until he texted Erika…ffs. The scene between Carlton and Ashley was hard to watch but hitting that low is what really shook Carlton and I’m glad it forced him to confess so now he gets the help he needs. I’m always up for more Carlton and especially now that he has his parents to support him properly. It'll be interesting to watch him mend his relationship with Ashley next season too. Hilary is proving Jazz’s point by choosing Lemarcus - she cares about the grand gestures and a lavish lifestyle more than she would like to admit because that’s all Lemarcus has done to get Hilary back tbh. I’m always team Jazz, he’s an absolute gem! He loves Hilary for who she is and respects her work too. I guess she’ll have to learn the hard way. I wonder how dark they’re going to turn season 3 with Geoffrey’s story. I’m not sure I’m ready to go deeper with him. I kinda like the whole mysteriousness of his character.
In the next season, I want the level of communication and conversation that we had in season 1. I need the parents to be more involved in what’s going on. They got this right in season 1 because at almost every inclination the adults made themselves available and gave proper advice to the kids before they went off to make their own decisions. That’s what was missing this season. They almost always came in after the fact and I don’t know if it was by design or poor writing. Overall, the writing for season 2 was too contrived.

In one of the episodes Doc did say that financial aid was available but Will didn't need it. To me Carlton was a standout this season and they made Will very unlikable as a character.
I actually think the opposite. This finale was weak imo. Carlton shoulda OD'd. That would've been DRAMA. Its still a good show but the first season was more hard hitting. This season felt very one note and safe to me and the pacing is weird at times. Something really serious can happen and before u get to digest it they transition into something irrelevant like Hilary and Lemarcus. With that being said next season got the potential to be as good as the first one if they play their cards right and take risk wit these storylines. Carlton in rehab, uncle Phil potentially cheating, Geoffrey got a target on his back etc. so we shall see.

I guess they're putting their own spin on this, but to me it comes off less dramatic, and weak. Even the old Fresh Prince switched the situation to serious. This show won't last if they eliminate to many elements from the old show. It's ok to switch it up, but not steer to far from the originsl Fresh Prince. So LaMarcus is gonna die like Trevor the Weather man right? He has to now, he's a character that has developed, and some people do genuinely like him. So it would be sad if he died. But that was also a scenario from the Original show.

After watching that I've grew to respect Carlton more as a character. But I'm slowing starting to lose more respect for Phill though. Especially on the scene when he confronts Carlton about the drugs, but that one, I can understand why he'd lash out like that, but I understand why he'd agreed to meet up with Erica, just after he reconciled with both Viv and Carlton.
Phil handled that as well as any parent could. They cant keep blaming Phil for everything that goes wrong with them when he has provided the best life possible. The reality is Carlton is a liar and manipulator and he tried to gaslight his dad into making him think its because he expects to much out of him because of what he provided. Phil's feelings are never considered in the entire show. Hes just the punchign bag when all he does it try to look out for his family.
I feel Jabari was in his bag for this episode. His acting was good in every scene. I like how he is starting to show a little of the funny side of the fresh prince. He seemed more serious in season 1 to me. He’s finding balance. Not as crazy goofy as the original Will character, but his little jokes and lightheartedness at times is good. The him & Lisa vibe was better too. People was hating on that actress calling her fat and nonsense. She doesn’t have to be a size zero to be beautiful. I think the chemistry seemed better, I didn’t like the whole pining after him thing, but she’s only in high school so. That love sick puppy after he dumped me thing was hard to watch (but it’s high school) so I pressed past it. The end talk where they kissed was sweet was cool. The actor who plays Carlton been on point from day 1. I like his complexities, and he gangsta-Carlton will pimp slap you for disrespect; I love it! Poor Jazz…that’s my guy, that football player, yawn. That floozy coming for a hot cup of Phil…I need gangsta Aunt Viv who snatches her earrings off and slathers Vaseline on her face On and on. It was a good season good finally

I thought his mom would have said something about Tray they live in same neighborhood so should have seen each other. Will has been repairing relationships lately.
Maybe they will bring him back. I would like to see the original aunt Viv on the show. During the fresh prince reunion with the original cast Will Smith admitted he did her dirty. Because of things he said about her, and being young full of himself, and immature, she was branded as a “difficult” actress. Directors will not want to work with women who have that rep. Plus it’s hard for black actresses, especially dark skinned ones, to make it in Hollywood. That hurt her professionally and personally. He did peace it up with her (admitting some things, but didn’t as I remember it, give her the outright apology she deserved). Full circle would be to have her on. I really liked her!

Ugh I have so many thoughts about this episode. I will first say that I LOVE this show, however, I am disappointed to see that it looks like they may have Uncle Phil be inappropriate with Erica. Sometimes I want to see shows about us not go down the stereotypical road. Enough of us have dealt with infidelity/inappropriateness within marriage that it would be nice to see a black man on the screen not just resist it but to put a scheming woman in her place. That was probably the most disappointing moment of this episode (other than the Carlton/Ashley moment). I will be beyond disappointed if season 3 starts with him being in a full blown affair with her. Other than that, I appreciate the turnaround that they did for Will because I just gave him some grace after the last episode and then when he had his moment with Jazz at the beginning of this episode, I felt the steam building up between my ears lol.
