Pointer of the day: keep the spines on the left side and sturdy cardboard at the bottom so when CGC removes them it will be with their right hand and not touching the spines. Once each comic is in their own bag with backer boards, put all the comics (5-7) in one larger bag to keep them together. When inserting the 5-7 comics in the mailer, be careful not to put pressure on the comics--it should close freely without any force otherwise the comics will sustain damage instantly and more when in the mail. The moral of the story (facts actually) is comic book protection--reverse engineer to ensure you can fully visualize and ultimately control how CGC handles your books from opening the package to removing the comics from the mailer and the plastic bags..
Late to respond to this, but my dude this is gold big brain food right here. The mass do not appreciate this free tip as much as they should. Thanks for the life hack.
Would love to see an episode on filling out the paperwork, specifically on how to decide which services would benefit you the most (pressing, expedite, etc.). I buy mostly graded now as the cost for submission with services is so high and more importantly potentially unnecessary.
Great, informational video. If you're ultra paranoid like me, you can ship it back in the original box that everything was mailed in for triple box protection!!!!
Does the packing list not go in the shipping box or is it submitted electronically? Do you not tape the bags shut before boxing them for shipment? With the way carriers handle boxes, I see the potential for a book to slide out causing damage to the corners and top edge. Even though it says fragile, it still gets tossed around.
Hey Tom love the content, can you do another video about how you don't trust CGC and there unethical practices make you very uncomfortable. I have been looking all over TH-cam for that amazing video but can't seem to find it? Did TH-cam take it down?
I hoped I wasn't the only one. I literally have towers of Gemini boxes bound and tied up tight in garbage bags stored in a well ventilated climate controlled room. This does not impress my wife in the slightest...
So, even if you have the COA, they will not authenticate with a grade? Also if you have a card, say the original hologram or character card that came with the comic, should you send that with it or will they not include?
@@RAG718 Not taping is done for a reason. It does seem counter intuitive but CGC does not want to be liable for damaging your comics trying to remove tape from the bags. I would recommend folding the flap and not taping.
Using the small kit, can you ship magazine sized comics such as The Last Ronin with normal sized comics? I have a total of 6 books to ship. 5 being normal size comics and the 1 magazine size. But I’m afraid if I put the magazine on the top or bottom a pressure crease might form on it, from the smaller, heavier stack of comics sitting or laying on it.
If using the large box, do you have to do 4 different submissions? If not, how do you handle the form? Also, if doing the large box, can I have them in 4 different tiers e.g. Modern, Standard, Express, Walkthrough and just write the EX and WK that they requires for those tiers on the outside of the little boxes?
Placing the books in bubble wrap sleeve not recommended if placing the books in a gemini shipper. Not only will you spend more long term in supplies will also pay more in shipping
Great video. Would love to hear more about grading comics. Like what issues / covers you would recommend getting graded. I don't want to grade the wrong book and not increase the long term value of it.
Very helpful video. I have all the comics I plan on shipping to cgc together. I was wondering, all four that I'm sending are in poly bag. Should I take them out before hand?
I would say the $25. Just because you mostly want to send in books and get them graded. Atleast that's the only thing I would want. But if that's not the only thing you want I would go with the 125 dollar one so you get access to more.
Just an update gang... Those shipping kits are awesome for beginners but now CGC has a backorder for both small and large kits and are unable to tell me when I could get any of the kits.

My ASM 1 I dropped off at a show to them, but considering that it might be awhile before another show they attend what's the best way to deal with insurance?
The way ink is used on comic paper these days. You'll end up rubbing more ink, off the back of the book. I always place my board halfway into the sleeve first, slide comic in, and down. Book can't rub against the board. CGC will grade against color rubbing.
@@bigwillcomics9968 I agree with Niles. Board about 1/2 to 1/3 in the sleeve, then place book on top and use the board 2 slide the book in. U wanna try 2 touch the book as least as possible 2 avoid prints and oils from the skin. Hope this helps 👍🏽
no no no jacob ,, if you do it that way you will just smear and rub the ink off the back cover to the backboard and damage lower grade your comic book ,, good luck .

Do you have to write the address or they send you a slip of paper with address that you tape to box
Got my first MMC today! I’m loving it!! Thanks guys !!!🤟

The feeling of pack and board comics simply wonderfull
ComicTom loved the whoop sound effect while he taped 8:20 ish . You make me so happy!!! Hug brah

This was extremely helpful thank you.
Thinking about doing this with some of mine. How is the average turn around time?
Good job Ryan.

Great job with the video for the novice to learn how to submit to cgc.
So you don't have to seal the individual comic bags?
Good video. The mis handling of my last book to them that destroyed my book was extremely disheartening :(
You really have to take care in how you pack it or else pay the price.
Great video -- how do I find the episode where you get these issues back? I wanna see how those books got scored!
Will Gold sized books (if you use your own larger bags/boards) fit into that cardboard box?
That's what I'm wondering too

wash your hands before handling comics and you wont have to worry about fingerprints

Hey, ComicTom.Question?
How does the tier grading work as far as like modern, silver, etc.. can you put both tiers in one box?
