The CrowdStrike Falcon combines local endpoint ( such as laptops, servers, and workstations) analysis with cloud-based intelligence to provide effective threat detection, prevention, and response. The recent BSOD was caused by a read-out-of-bounds memory safety error in the CrowdStrike developed driver. Specifically, the issue occurred due to a file system filter driver within CrowdStrike’s service for Windows machines. Although kernel-level cybersecurity solutions offer enhanced protection, they come with a tradeoff: if they glitch out, they can’t be easily fixed.🙂
