  • I've been getting a lot of requests on how to make various basses in Sytrus, and in this video I want to give you a little bit of the theory and my thought process on how I go about making sounds from scratch. This video is a bit different, because instead of showing you how to make a specific sound, I want to highlight all the different tools you can use to create your own basses from scratch using Sytrus. Hope you like the video.

    Hope everyone is having a great weekend so far! Wanted to do something a bit different in this tutorial. I've been getting a bunch of requests for bass sounds and I wanted to show you all how I would go about creating various basses from scratch so hopefully you can use these techniques to figure out how to make any sound you want. There's a certain level of experimentation involved, but I'd recommend just having fun with it. Hope you like the tutorial!

      You can try to check the Harmless its a stock plugin n simple saw and its good for layering leads but too many knobs i get confuse every time if you would like to check it and try to understand the plugin...would be great👍👍

      This video reminds me how much I loved sytrus, starting out, sytrus made it soooooo easy to visualize complex synthesis and the mod matrix let's you make little subtle tweaks on your sound so it sounds more natural and powerful

      I agree, in my case I ignored it for years until i really started to research synthesis and realised how mint it is. My go-to's are serum, sytrus and sylenth... I own harmor but I need to learn it better - that is in my opinion, harder to learn than sytrus.

    This is a great place to start. Once I have a basic bass I tweak with all kinds of things just to see what kind of sounds I can create. Thanks for the video David, very helpful as always.

      Honestly I switched from serum to harmor/sytrus. Just found myself doing the same sound design techniques in serum and it became uninspiring for me after awhile. With harmor there are limitless opportunities on how u can make a sound. having full control on your phaser, unison, filter, etc by being able to create ur own shapes is pretty powerful imo.The only downfall with harmor and sytrus as far as I’m aware is that they don’t get updated as often as serum does. But in the end u shouldn’t buy something because everybody else is using it. That’s one thing I fell victim to when I first started producing lol

    What’s funny is this is like a tutorial for how to drive your Ferrari to 7-11. It’s actually great for getting the job done, but it’s hilarious how extreme and powerful Sytrus is capable of being. We’re just bypassing 98% of what it does here. Not that this is a bad thing. Just made me smile seeing it used for such a normal synth sound.

    Hi David, thanks for another thoughtful video, I regularly learn new techniques, and gain a deeper understanding of producing from your video's. As a relative newby, I am looking past complete sound design from scratch right now, and just attempting to tweak and modify preset sounds to make them closer to what I want - for me this is very experimental, as I am still learning how different parameters actually change and affect an individual sound. Pure sound design from scratch just takes me waay too long, and I don't think I do a very good job at it anyway, so I end up going back to tweaking presets again. I generally prefer to spend more time on song structure and the creative side of song writing and beat making. I feel like I can learn the full sound design stuff later, when I am more capable and have a reasonable understanding of the software. Perhaps you could put together some kind of 'how to tweak preset sounds' video some time, as I am sure that would help me to some degree.
    There is just so much to learn when starting out, it is almost overwhelming...

    • @AnotherMonster
      @AnotherMonster  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      This is a good way to familiarize yourself with sound design. It's still a good idea to learn and fully understand the basics because that will help you make better decisions while you are tweaking stuff

    Great video! Thanks:) bass line is the thig which i love in tracks but to set great sounding bas in the mix is the higher level - to keep a great quality of bas sound and the rest of the layers. But first its good to know hom to customize your own sound and character. It takes time but as i am making my tracks since 20 years ... its worth to sit and pay attention to your own sound design. Sub! And regards, i will be back for more :)

    Hi, Thanks for you all your intersting videos - you are really a very good teacher ! And I must say, that I learn so many things from you ! Chapeau for you !
    Please give me 5 min and write me the important effects that can I use in some songs ! But, you should know, that I just wanna make PopSongs, ballades and Reggae etc . . . I don't play hard things or metal !!!
    I would like to focus only on tutorials that could be useful for me. You know, there are so many effects and it will be just wasting time to test them all.
    Wish you all the best in all your project and God Bless you - Salutation from Berlin-Germany
