Blair was the most reasonable one of them all. Before the Thing imitated him, Blair ensured they couldn’t fly the helicopter, use the snow cat, radio for help, or have any dog run off. Blair was going to hang himself (explains the noose) but the Thing got to him first. The real Blair wouldn’t have been asking to go back inside.
There are theories that Blair was turned earlier, and they actually make sense. However, I'm of your opinion in the order of events, and that's how I imagine it.
@@ripum853 I’m open to most theories however, to suggest that Blair was imitated prior to him tampering with the communications and transportation doesn’t make sense or hold much logic.
@@bluecollartradesman715 their thought was that Blair was already thinking several steps ahead, and was already thinking of the "go to sleep, wait for the rescue team" plan, and/or look crazy so he can be separated to work on the spaceship. I don't agree with those either, as the Thing seemingly prefered to slink in the background and not make a spectacle of itself.
Okay I'm one of those guys who think Blair was infected earlier... In fact I believe Blair was actually the first. Let's talk about destroying the chopper, killing the dogs and going crazy in the radioroom- Yes it prevents anyone (including The Thing) from escaping *if* Blair was human *BUT* ... It also prevents anyone from *warning* the outside World to *stay away* and permanently quarantine the area. So (with Blair as a Thing at this point) they can't get away with the helicopter and can't use the radio to put out the warning. He killed the dogs because the dogs saw right through the Thing's dog disguise- Blair/Thing may have been making sure nothing can identify him. Blair/Thing could not have possibly put that makeshift craft in his ice cave together in just a day- so if he was stealing parts from the helicopter, smashing it to pieces when he had all the necessary parts would cover his tracks. And finally the chaos of the radioroom rampage allowed "another" Thing to sneak off and destroy the blood bags- Palmer is not present during the radioroom destruction. However the bottom line and beauty of this film is that there is no solid answer and could go either way.
I showed this to my Norwegian girlfriend and asked her what the Norwegian guy trying to kill the dog was yelling and she said he was yelling" "What are you f*cking stupid? That's not a dog it's a thing!" and so unfortunately to Norwegians they know what's up with that "dog" well before the rest of us do. She also said that McCready insisting on calling the Norwegians Swedes was an on point insult as Norwegians kind of look at Swedes as dorks.
When you consider that even a single cell of the thing is an imminent threat to all life, and you consider all the locations where the thing was and how many tiny pieces of it could be here or there or hidden in the snow, the humans didn't win, though they might have bought the rest of the world some time. I think a sequel should take place in the future, in space, as we've begun to create colonies on the less inhospitable planets and moons, and asteroids of our solar system. It could be revealed that rescue teams were able to "safely" obtain and successfully quarantine samples of the thing back in the eighties and the crashed alien space ship was carefully systematically sterilized and the norwegian and american camps as well. So, the story would pick up at some science facility in the future, not on earth, or perhaps a station or large ship. A war is underway and suddenly the thing is released during an attack. And, well, all hell breaks loose, kind of literally.
Or one could go in the Lovecraftian direction. A piece of the thing survives and infects a person and heads back into civilization. Instead of just blindly infecting everyone it can, it infects only a certain type of person that can help with its true objective. Its "group" starts building a doorway to its home dimension, to serve us up as food for rest of "the elder gods".
The predecessor is “The Thing from Another World” from 1951. Why this apocalypse, it is precisely the subtle horror that is the strength of this film. The other thing would be the issue of "I'll make 1000 more sequels" which is a lot of films not getting at all. The open ending is absolutely brilliant.
The title card effect is taken from the 1951 movie. It's done by placing a cutout of the words in front of a fish tank full of water with a light shining through it. You place a piece of poster board between the tank and the cutout to block the light and then set it on fire. As the poster board burns away, the words are revealed with the light shining from behind.
The Norwegian man tells the Americans to “Get the hell away"...“that's not a dog, it's some sort of thing! It's imitating a dog, it isn't real! Get away you idiots!”...before he shoots but accidentally hits one of the Americans.
The 1982 version takes a couple rewatches to notice everything. IMO, Blair had a slow-assimilation, so his going crazy was part of him trying to fight control by the shapeshifter virus; the rope in the shack also was perhaps his last effort, but probably his cells had been taken over enough that the organism was able to make another route for oxygen and repair the spine if damaged in the fall then. I like the 2011 prequel movie of the same title myself, though most tend to complain about the CGI being imperfect back then and how they already know everything basically. But either way, both films were good IMO. There was also a 1951 movie loosely adapted from the novella "Who Goes There?" as well, but it's... well... it's good for its time at least.
I went to see The Thing when it came out and everyone else and all of my friends went to see E.T. The theater was only half-full and the people there were having the time of their lives watching this masterpiece. Carpenter has done it again with the perfect mix of horror, suspense and top tier paranoia. I don't know how MacReady didn't get infected when that blood jumped out of the petri dish. I thought that everyone in the room got infected when Norris' stomach opened up and his intestines and veins were splashing the green blood everywhere. The characters did not trust anything or anyone else because they could not tell who was human or an alien. I love the how Carpenter tried to misdirect us by making us think that Clark was infected because he spent time with the dog. Blaire immediately understood the magnitude of the situation when he did his analysis of the organism. He understood the assignment and did not want anyone that's infected getting back to civilization. Just imagine it would take a little over three years to infect the whole world population. That's scary as hell. I was so happy that I went to see this movie. I told all my friends about it and we all went to see it the next weekend and they loved it. The practical effects are amazing. This movie holds up to any horror movie today. Carpenter is a genius at suspense and horror.
If you want to see what happened at the Norwegian camp, check out the prequel (The Thing, 2011) The effects are not as good, but a very entertaining watch. With Mary Elizabeth Winstead and Joel Edgerton. Cheers!
What's interesting about The Thing that it was a box office flop and critics universally panned the movie. It wasn't until it came out on VHS and cable TV that it found it's audience. Now it's hailed as a masterpiece
I love it when the younger generation appreciates these old horrors, the limits these films had and what they managed to do with it and they dish out masterpieces like this ❤ glad you liked it
Blair did not lose his mind. He was very much sane. The fact that the other guys didn’t catch on until it was too late, lets you know how confused they all really were.
I definitely recommend watching the behind the scenes for this film. It explains things like the "dog" being played by a wolf-dog hybrid, Kurt Russell almost blowing himself up with an explosion on set, real human organs being used for authenticity in the autopsy scenes and much more.
No "graphics" in these older movies kiddo. Practical everything. Latex rubber and models. Computers back then weren't much more advanced than handheld calculators, so none of what you see here is made on a computer screen
"kiddo" is sort of rude, but it IS very interesting how younger generation use the term graphics, that we used to reserve for video games, as a misused term for anything they see on a screen these days. Not a fan of the de-evolution of things. Words have meaning and I guess humans nowadays just don't care anymore. A real life version of the biblical story of the tower of Babel is being created. Further dividing us through the breakdown of agreed upon language. And literally social wars being fought against those who understand the difference between what words really mean vs what the younger generations want them to mean.
@@RandomPickles technically, yes, still considered practical, but not as effective as the puppetry and makeup portions of the film, and still also a form of animation.
If Among Us was a movie. 😂 This is such a incredible film. Practical effects here are second to none (I think the same artist worked on Total Recall as well). They tried to do a remake of this in 2015 or something with CGI and it just doesnt feel the same at all. Outside of the effects, the suspense and tension really make this movie. This film definitely stands the test of time.
October Halloween suggestions: 'An American Werewolf in London' 1981, 'The Hills Have Eyes' 1977, 'Texas Chainsaw Massacre' 1974, 'Alien' 1979 and 'Aliens' 1986.
1. The Norwegian killed himself so The Thing couldn't get to him. 2. The ultimate hand grenade throwing FAIL 🙄🙄 They had to eliminate the helicopter. 3. You have to realize that this movie came out long before CGI so there was some very creative practical effects showcased here. 4. Mac's not a murderer. Clark was attacking him with the scalpel. It was self defense. 5. Of everything that went down the part that got me the most was when Blair was dragging Gary by the face.😲 6. Their fate is left arbitrary on purpose. Maybe it's best they all die. 7. They're re-making this sans Carpenter and Russell. 8. Another Russell/Carpenter product you need to first time/share with us is "Escape from New York".
Fun reaction! You're a welcome addition to the community of reactors. I just took a look at your catalog and it's similar to my interests, so I subscribed. "The Thing" started its life as a 1938 novella called "Who Goes There?" by John W. Campbell Jr. In 1951 it was made into a movie called "The Thing From Another World," which is quite good. John Carpenter was a big fan of the movie and decided to remake it. That became the movie you just saw. Good luck with your channel!
Yeah, and Carpenter's version is dripping with influence from H.P. Lovecraft, in particular the 1931 novella 'At the Mountains of Madness', where a group of Antarctic scientists return to find out what happened to a previous expedition that was wiped out...turns out they accidentally thawed out an alien being (an 'Elder Thing') they found frozen in the ice, which slaughtered them. The story is supposed to be a warning to stay away from this part of the continent.

I honestly don't really even count Carpenter's version as a remake. Aside from the font of the title sequence, he didn't really take anything from the original film. 1982 is a much more faithful version to the original story.
All carpenter movies should be watched! Specially Assault on precinct 13, holloween ,escape from New York, escape from LA, Starman, Big Trouble in little CHINA, they Live, The Fog, Eyes of Laura Mars, Prince of Darkness, and others. Carpenter resented Spielberg for ET AND it took all the money and awards. But Carpenter had the last laugh! Because this movie is much better! Carpenter made his own alien love story with Starman! Carpenter also is the master of the minimalist creepy theme music! Kurt did 4 movies with carpenter! He even did an early TV Elvis movie, for John! This is one of the 3 most important sci-fi movies ever made. Plus Alien and Bladerunner, which are all related, by actors, and some other technicalities. Also the brilliance here is, when the thing busts out, it comes out of u anywhere, any size, shape, etc. The dog trainer should have won an Oscar and the special effects guy should have won an Oscar! He was a twenty one year old college student!😮😮😮. Pro tip, carpenter is still thinking about a sequel! But there's still a massive tie in here with Alien, predator Bladerunner this , and a movie with Kurt Russell called, Soldier! They are related by the beings called Engineers, for Aliens, Terminator, predator, Bladerunner this, and a movie with Kurt Russell movie called, Soldier. Common companies, technology, Replicants, synthetic humans, beings that Engineers created, and even writers and producers! And this is why, prosthetic, robotics, special/ effects, practical effects, are way better than CGI! The three main corporations... Cyberdyne (Terminator) Weyland Corp (alien) and Tyrell Corp (Bladerunner) all did cross work for each other, and also shared some employees!😮 Kurt better have kept the hat! Also the total brilliance here is, once u have been infected, even from just a scratch, u have no idea when u are being taken over, u don't become the thing, until it's cornered found out or threatened! Then it's cells take over ur cells! One of the absolute must watch Carpenter films u must watch! Along with Starman, escape from New York, escape from LA, Big Trouble in little CHINA, assault on precinct 13. Go with those, and his Halloween stuff, Eyes of Laura Mars, They Live, The Fog, Christine, In the mouth of madness, prince of darkness, memoirs of an invisible man, vampires! There are critics who say this is Carpenter's version of Communism Socialism, etc , and how it takes over countries, much as a film in the 50s by the same name, i think...the special effects guy here went on to do some great movies! This movie has literally been discussed for 40 years, one of them has to be the thing...who is it? Lots of theories have been discussed. When it happened.... before or same time as Palmer, and something about a vision effect, in an infected person's eyes. But carpenter is adamant, that no one knows who the thing is, and there are no giveaways!!!
John Carpenter is a really good filmmaker...you just have to watch, since his films can be great or crap. The thing is, with his films even the bad films usually have good moments (except The Ward) and the good films usually have some terrible moments (moments I edit out in my headcanon, like the twist ending of 'The Fog"). Great: Escape from New York In the Mouth of Madness Big Trouble in Little China Starman Christine The Fog Halloween Crap: Escape from L.A. The Ward Ghosts of Mars Vampires Village of the Damned Prince of Darkness
***3 SOLID REASONS WHY CHILDS IS THE THING:*** #1 - Childs Jacket Swap When McReady, Garry and Nauls go to give the Doc the blood test out in the shack, they leave Childs (wearing a Blue jacket) alone to guard the door. There are 3 jackets on hooks on the wall behind Childs with the colours of the jackets being Blue, Green and Beige. When the Thing kills you, it rips your clothes apart and when you see the same room several minutes later, the jacket colours have been changed to Beige, Green and Green. Note there are also other jackets hanging on the left and right of the room, thus allowing the Thing to make the swap before unknowingly returning 2 ‘out of sync' colour jackets to the same wall. Childs is shown wearing a Green jacket in the final 2-minutes of the film with McReady, not his original Blue jacket when he was last seen guarding the door, hence Childs is the Thing. NOTE: Some people say Childs jacket is Blue in the final scene, however if this is true, it still doesn’t explain the 2 ‘out of sync' swapped colour jackets on the wall as mentioned above, maybe the Thing swapped Childs Blue ripped jacket for a Blue undamaged jacket. #2 - Childs Breathing The last 2-minutes of dialogue out in the freezing cold between McReady and Childs clearly shows the steam McReady makes as a human when he breathes. But Childs makes no steam at all when he breathes because he is non-human and either has the same temperature inside his body as outside, or is mimicking breathing, hence Childs is the Thing. NOTE: Some people point to the fact that Bennings had steam from his breath before the fuel drum was kicked on him prior to McReady throwing a flare on him to kill the Bennings Thing earlier in the film, but the Thing hadn’t fully taken over Bennings by that point (remember his hand was massive and still in the process of transforming) which means Bennings was STILL part-human (with normal breathing at the time) that could explain this. #3 - Childs First Drink When sitting down in the snow at the very end of the film, McReady hears a faint creek of wood behind him and half raises a bottle to his mouth. The 'drink' McReady passes to Childs is a Molotov cocktail (many Molotov’s were just thrown to set the research station on fire) and after drinking the gasoline, Childs has NO REACTION and makes NO COMMENT. A human would either not drink from the bottle because of the smell, or would spit the gasoline out immediately, but the Thing has no reference to the smell or taste of ANY fluid and as a result 'outs' itself. McReady smiles, laughs a little to himself about the Thing failing his second test (the first was the blood test) and rests his head down knowing the dire situation he finds himself in and he has been checkmated the same as the computer chess game did to him earlier on in the film, hence Childs is the Thing. Conclusion: At the end of the film McReady and the Thing are seated next to each other out in the freezing cold with McReady NOT ‘waiting to see what happens next...', but unfortunately for him, KNOWING ‘what happens next...’.
Now that you have watched the movie I will let you know about the camp from the US. To make it cheaper. The Norwegian camp was actually the US camp but they shot the movie in reverse. The director had the 2 US men fly nowhere but then they just made it look like the Norwegian camp. Also this movie was shot in northern Canada (I live in Canada) in the winter.
It was a great cheerful reaction! I didn't have that face when I watched it the first time. It was more like 😬 ! 😅 I hope you will watch Alien (1979) and Aliens (1986) too! You will certainly love them too considering how you liked The Thing!
2:43: "It looks like a husky or wolf ..." Very perceptive! The animal actor Jed (1977-1995) was a hybrid of wolf and Alaskan Malamute. He has his own article on Wikipedia: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jed_(wolfdog)
Yep no. CGI crap back then all practical. Even now those practical effects look awesome. This was like 40+ years ago insane! No wonder those practical effects won many awards back then . Practical effects done properly like this are far superior to todays CGI IMHO !
If you really want to know what happens there's a comic book that came out a long time ago McCready survived but it was confirmed that Child was the "thing" at the end of the movie.
something to think about ! we know that part of the creature in the kennel escaped through the roof, and there`s an excellent possibility that childs was turned when he wandered outside of the camp before they started blowing things up , we also never see blair ,nauls , or gary die ! so ! there could possibly be 5 of the creatures that survived ! and they`ll be waiting for the rescue team since freezing does`nt kill them ! always expected a sequel , but it never happened ! the prequel is not bad , those who hate it ,hate it for using cgi for the creature effects ! yes the original is a better film , but the prequel is worth watching ! so , check out the thing 2011
3:00: "Det er ikke en bikkje ... det er'ke virkelig" = IT'S NOT A DOG ... IT'S NOT REAL ... Unfortunately the Americans, just like our reactor, were absent from school the day they taught Norwegian.

Great reaction to a great movie! Got yourself a new subscriber! I'd like to recommend a couple of my favorite movies for you to watch; "Cube" and "Fallen". Both great and IMHO very underrated movies.
You refused to believe it ended on a cliffhanger but it did. No sequel, no explanation. They did make a prequel just a few years ago but it doesn't explain this cliffhanger. No thoughts from you on whether Mac or Childs was actually a thing? Not even any guesses?
@@itsbluereacts OK, in that case, I offer evidence, Halfway through the movie they decided not to share food or drink. One of them even said "we should prepare our own food and only eat out of cans." At the end of the movie, Mac gave Childs a bottle to drink from and Childs drank. That was absolutely the dumbest thing in the whole movie if Childs were human. There was a lot of tension and drama but not a lot of stupid decisions, so that would have been out of character. The only way Childs would have let his lips touch that bottle is if had no fear of being converted to a Thing. So he already was one. Well, probably not when he was throwing dynobite at the last Thing. But he blew that up. It probably got all over him. He seems injured but he wasn't injured unless he was too close to the blast, and if he was that close, he got Thing on him. Mac gave Childs the bottle to convert him because he was just converted a few minutes ago when he blew up the huge Thing and got it on his skin. Really, I'm quite sure about Childs and only somewhat sure about Mac, but it won't matter. If Mac is human then he freezes to death, Childs hibernates and the whole thing starts all over again in the spring when a rescue team comes and Childs (and probably Mac) starts converting them.
John carpenter did Halloween , the film with Michael Myers ! this film is part one of carpenters apocalypse trilogy , the second film is prince of darkness , and the third and final film is in the mouth of madness ! all very good films , check them out ! the Norwegian was trying to warn them , what he said was stay away from the dog , it`s not really a dog ,it`s sa thing ! when they killed him they sealed their fate ! he was trying to save their lives ! there`s a prequel made in 2011 , shows what happened at the Norwegian camp , you should watch it !
For someone who doesn't like horror movies you sure watched this one without any difficulty. If you liked this one may I suggest watching other older movies like it, such as, "Prince of Darkness", also by the same director, John Carpenter, or the original 1974 "Black Christmas" movie or if you've already watched the original 1973 Exorcist movie I highly recommend the Exorcist 3 which connects to the first one and is very well done, just not as nasty. Just don't watch the directors cut because it was seriously botched and makes no sense, the theater version is fine. And don't bother with the Exorcist 2 because it was really bad and has almost no connection to the first one.
Sweetheart, there are PLENTY of movies, the same age as THIS movie and even older than it, that feature GREAT visual effects. I'll even NAME a few for ya .. . 2001 A Space Odysey Star Wars Tora Tora Tora Forbidden Planet The Exorcist Eraserhead Blade Runner Alien Dark Crystal Dragonslayer The Poseideon Adventure Superman The Movie Close Encounters of the Third Kind Jason And The Argonauts Outland Altered States Time Bandits Killer Klowns From Outer Space The Never Ending Story Ghostbusters Apacalypse Now Return of the Living Dead Star Treck The Motion Picture Good special effects were NOT invented with CGI (believe it or not).

You are not familiar with John Carpenter,? Good lord. Ok your starting out on his best film, which is saying something, in that I have not seen anything of his that I didn't like. Just a run down on the John Carpenter films you MUST watch: "Big Trouble In Little China" "Christine" The original "The Fog" "Star Man" "They Live" The original "Halloween", The Original "Assault on Precinct 13", "Ghosts of Mars", "In the Mouth of Madness" "Prince of Darkness" "Vampires" "Escape From New York" "Escape From LA" "Dark Star". He does most of his own soundtracks, since his parents were both Musicians. He has never been truly appreciated for his Genius, and is notable bitter about the Film Industry. A number of directors are vocal about how much he as influenced them, particularly Tarantino. His influence on modern film is evident in many films. I also stressed The Original, as a number of people have broken Rule #13 of Film Making : Thou Shalt never remake a John Carpenter Film", every single remake of one of his films is just a sad imposter.
John Carpenter is responsible for inspiring several directors, movies, and Television shows. If you have seen Stranger Things, then the music in this movie should sound failure.
Oh... John Carpenter is a legend to my generation. But then i'm kind of old, LOL. Just imagine the fact that my mom took me to the theater to see The Thing when i was six years old in 1982.

If you want to see what happened at the Norwegian camp, check out the prequel (The Thing, 2011)
The effects are not as good, but a very entertaining watch. With Mary Elizabeth Winstead and Joel Edgerton. Cheers!
There is fun game, too
“Let the dog be the dog.” 😂 Love watching reactions to this film. Watched it one Sunday afternoon as a teenager. It really messed me up!
What's interesting about The Thing that it was a box office flop and critics universally panned the movie. It wasn't until it came out on VHS and cable TV that it found it's audience. Now it's hailed as a masterpiece
I love it when the younger generation appreciates these old horrors, the limits these films had and what they managed to do with it and they dish out masterpieces like this ❤ glad you liked it
The Thing always knows it's the Thing because the original is dead and the Thing is an imitation alien.
The Thing 1982 has a 2011 made prequel and a few comic book sequels.
There is a game, too.
@@jeffstrom164 I know and it's being remastered on steam this year.
The predecessor, which is excellent, comes from 1951 called “The Thing from Another World”.
@@2tone753 I know I seen that one too. Though it is different from the novel.
I like her chipper attitude.
Thank you for reacting to one of my all-time favorite films!!!!!
There seems to be some stop-motion at times, particularly when Blair-thing grabs the detonator.
@ripum853 Yes.. practical.
@@RandomPickles technically, yes, still considered practical, but not as effective as the puppetry and makeup portions of the film, and still also a form of animation.
@@ripum853 I don't anybody said otherwise. But there was a lot of stop motion. In every scene that the Thing was in I believe. Stop motion is great.
"I'm attached to the dog." Many are, and in many ways...
5. Of everything that went down the part that got me the most was when Blair was dragging Gary by the face.😲
6. Their fate is left arbitrary on purpose. Maybe it's best they all die.
7. They're re-making this sans Carpenter and Russell.
8. Another Russell/Carpenter product you need to first time/share with us is "Escape from New York".
Thank you for this list, sir. Thank you so very much. 🫡
Great reaction to a classic movie 😊😊😊😊😊
Those “sticks” MacReady is blowing up the Things w/is dynamite.
11:59 this movie in a nutshell
Fun reaction! You're a welcome addition to the community of reactors. I just took a look at your catalog and it's similar to my interests, so I subscribed.
"The Thing" started its life as a 1938 novella called "Who Goes There?" by John W. Campbell Jr. In 1951 it was made into a movie called "The Thing From Another World," which is quite good. John Carpenter was a big fan of the movie and decided to remake it. That became the movie you just saw.
Good luck with your channel!
Thanks for being here!

Cyberdyne (Terminator) Weyland Corp (alien) and Tyrell Corp (Bladerunner) all did cross work for each other, and also shared some employees!😮
Kurt better have kept the hat!
But carpenter is adamant, that no one knows who the thing is, and there are no giveaways!!!
great reaction - thank you for all you do -
"I'm attached to the dog"... and shortly after, so were the other dogs...
If you need suggestions I'd love if you did the 2005 War of the Worlds, I saw that in the theater as a kid and it was so intense.
Congratulations on watching the best horror suspense sci-fi practical effects movie ever made to date.🔥
all practical effects , no cgi !
Great:
Escape from New York
In the Mouth of Madness
Big Trouble in Little China
Starman
Christine
The Fog
Halloween
Crap:
Escape from L.A.
The Ward
Ghosts of Mars
Vampires
Village of the Damned
Prince of Darkness
"Was that your friend's hand" 😂
***3 SOLID REASONS WHY CHILDS IS THE THING:***
#1 - Childs Jacket Swap
When McReady, Garry and Nauls go to give the Doc the blood test out in the shack, they leave Childs (wearing a Blue jacket) alone to guard the door.
#2 - Childs Breathing
The last 2-minutes of dialogue out in the freezing cold between McReady and Childs clearly shows the steam McReady makes as a human when he breathes.
#3 - Childs First Drink
When sitting down in the snow at the very end of the film, McReady hears a faint creek of wood behind him and half raises a bottle to his mouth.
Conclusion:
At the end of the film McReady and the Thing are seated next to each other out in the freezing cold with McReady NOT ‘waiting to see what happens next...', but unfortunately for him, KNOWING ‘what happens next...’.
from speaking about movie reactions becoming a thing on stream a very long while back to it now coming into fruition

8:30 Cable? Alright, grandma 😂
Practical effects done properly like this are far superior to todays CGI IMHO !
the thing is the greatest horror movie ever made in my opinion I've loved it since i was 12.....I'm 53
me gusto mucho la reacccion
If you really want to know what happens there's a comic book that came out a long time ago McCready survived but it was confirmed that Child was the "thing" at the end of the movie.
No it didn't. Childs didn't get infected until after he tried to sink the thing to the bottom of the ocean
something to think about ! we know that part of the creature in the kennel escaped through the roof, and there`s an excellent possibility that childs was turned when he wandered outside of the camp before they started blowing things up , we also never see blair ,nauls , or gary die ! so ! there could possibly be 5 of the creatures that survived ! and they`ll be waiting for the rescue team since freezing does`nt kill them ! always expected a sequel , but it never happened ! the prequel is not bad , those who hate it ,hate it for using cgi for the creature effects ! yes the original is a better film , but the prequel is worth watching ! so , check out the thing 2011
I suspect Blair might've been infected by someone bringing him food in the shack.
Despite popular opinion and the crappy cgi effects, the 2011 prequel is not bad and worth watching.
3:00: "Det er ikke en bikkje ... det er'ke virkelig" = IT'S NOT A DOG ... IT'S NOT REAL ... Unfortunately the Americans, just like our reactor, were absent from school the day they taught Norwegian.
Of course the computer is smart 😁 This movie includes characters Mac and Windows way before both systems existed.
I saw this movie when I was like 5 years old and I was scared of my German shepherd for a week.
I always wonder if the Thing could've been reasoned with if they tried.
Cindy check out the movies Halloween(1978), Creepshow(1982), and Tremors(1990).
Classic movie
The Norwegian guy in the beginning said: "Get the hell out of here, that's not a dog, it's some kind of thing! It's imitating a dog, it isn't real! Get away, you idiots!"
It's always struck me funny that if one of the guys at Outpost 31 spoke Norwegian, the movie would have been over in seven minutes.
There is a prequel called “The Thing”! 2011!
The predecessor is from 1951 called “The Thing from Another World”. An excellent film.
Everybody being afraid of its crab legs but im sitting here wanting melted butter and a wet wipe........mmmmmmm, alien crab legs....

I'd like to recommend a couple of my favorite movies for you to watch; "Cube" and "Fallen". Both great and IMHO very underrated movies.
How do we get Cindy to watch Requiem for a dream and Hellraiser?
You refused to believe it ended on a cliffhanger but it did.
No sequel, no explanation.
They did make a prequel just a few years ago but it doesn't explain this cliffhanger.
No thoughts from you on whether Mac or Childs was actually a thing?
Not even any guesses?
honestly? i think they both were humans - but i prefer happy endings 😂
@@itsbluereacts OK, in that case, I offer evidence,
Halfway through the movie they decided not to share food or drink. One of them even said "we should prepare our own food and only eat out of cans."
At the end of the movie, Mac gave Childs a bottle to drink from and Childs drank.
@@itsbluereacts Note, my other post I'm not saying you're wrong. Nobody but John Carpenter knows for sure.
I just like to speculate about this ending.
If you like well-made 80s horror, do check out Stanley Kubrick's The Shining.

The Scene with the dogs took over 6 weeks to film, because everything was hand driven it looks better that way, imo.
i first watched this when i was 5 years old, windows death scene used to make me throw up, it took 5 times watching it to get used to it.
