  • From astronauts, pilots, mountain climbers to deep-sea divers all have one thing in common, they need to consider the effects of oxygen pressure. Even at sea level when the barometric pressure rises on a sunny day our body can intake an extra 7% of oxygen.
Recreational divers are responsible for using oxygen (within nitrox) at far greater pressures than are used in our hospitals, both as a diving gas and as a treatment of gas-bubble-related illnesses.
There is much debate about the physiological effects (beneficial or otherwise) of hyperbaric oxygen on our body and Professor James will introduce us to these physiological effects to allow us to understand more of this life-sustaining gas.
