Yeah this is why this storyline should not work in the first place. If Leonard prefer to spend time playing with the toys instead of working, then yeah Penny had a point to get mad.
Plus, Leonard was extremely gullible here because he let Penny dictate his life when at the time they were not even dating exclusively. Leonars self esteem when it comes to Penny was so low that he would literally do anything to impress Penny.

Exactly! Sheldon handled this like a boss, stood up for Leonard like how he should have had the balls, backbone and common sense to do for himself and gave Penny a piece of his mind. Leonard was so pathetic to just let Penny get in his head and manipulate him into throwing out everything he loves, and he never even appreciated or thanked Sheldon for doing this for him; it took another guy turning up at Penny’s door for him to come to his senses, he really is pathetic like she said he was.
But it really wasn’t. They brought a toy/machine that blocked a public stairwell and caused her to be late for her shift. I’d be pissed too. And none of her “toys” are any hindrance to them or anyone else.
It wasn't exactly their fault. The elevator is broken, how else are they going to get it up to the apartment? They also didn't block her intentionally, it was just bad timing. Also it wouldn't have mattered what it was. Anything could have blocked the stairwell. It could've been a couch, dresser, refrigerator, or any number of things. Since it is a public stairwell, anyone has the right to move possessions up and down if they need to.
Penny is one to talk, she calls the guys pathetic for playing with toys, but at least they all graduated from college and earned their degrees, work at a University, but Penny is a failure at acting and is suck working as a waitress, who is the loser now?
Its real funny how Penny made him feel bad for his hobbies... Like she doesn't have an even worse habit of dating toxic guys..... Meanwhile Leonard's hobby is healthier by a lot

I own a statue of Yuna from FFX that's actually lifesized. It's 162cm tall (5.3ft) which is supposed to be Yuna's actual size in the game. It cost me an arm and a leg at the time, but it has been the pride of my collection for many years. I once dated someone who found the statue creepy and had it scare the living daylights out of her in the middle of the night once because she thought there was another person in the room. After that, she tried to make me get rid of it, to a point where she made me choose between her or it. I still have it to this day. #noregrets

Yeah, but there's only so many nerd-toys you can have on a shelf before an interest becomes an obsession, and something that ultimately takes you away from sharing time with your partner. I've collected all kinds of stuff over the years from vintage/antique goods, retro computers/consoles, and old bicycles. I'd happily trade it in for a decent attempt at love if I had to, because my interests would be elsewhere by that point and I'd be willing to show that person that she meant more than the possessions I'd never put a monetary value on. A good balance is probably the ideal solution, but you can't really expect a healthy relationship when you're on eBay each day buying mint-in-box star-trek toys while you're wife is raising your children on a shoestring budget.

There are two things in this video that are reasons for why I didn’t like Leonard’s character:
1. He let Penny get in his head and tries to throw out all of his collectibles and things he loves not because he wants to but because of her calling him pathetic for loving them; Penny might be the one in the wrong and might have apologised, but she was right to call Leonard pathetic for the fact that he would let her manipulate him like that and for the fact that he had no backbone to stand up to her, instead he’d just do whatever it takes to impress her or make her like him.
2. Sheldon on the other hand actually handled this situation like a boss, but really the fact that Leonard wouldn’t listen to reason from his roommate and best friend is again what I hated about him that he didn’t appreciate Sheldon at times for standing up for him and doing something on his behalf, despite how annoying he is and how much he has to put up with from him.
Leonard was pathetic (i mean he was written this way, to be extremely pathetic) . Collectibles, miniatures, trains, or cars - everything could become pathetic when attached to a character who escapes real world challenges. Later on he becomes mature not in a "artificial way" (by forcing himself to get rid of smth) but by actually improving his life, getting real world experience, becoming wiser (well. for sitcom anyway) .

This show was a wonderful simulation of what real friendship should be like.
It always cracks me up seeing how they live. I mean, Howard is an aerospace engineer with a Masters degree from MIT, most prestigious engineering school in the world. There is no company in the world that would pay him less than $150K/year to START. But he lives with his mom and stresses about his $2,600 Bar Mitzvah bond!

Notice how Sheldon is not actively bidding for Leonard's stuff with the same objective as Howard and Raj. Sheldon senses that something is up with Leonard and senses it's because of manipulation by Penny. He offers $200 for the time machine (same as Leonard paid) and offers to match the comic book store for the lot. He intends for the stuff to stay in the apartment so it won't get resold and lost to Leonard forever. I imagine that he would simply sell back Leonard at some point in the future once Leonard started to regret selling it all, at which point Sheldon would probably just sell it back to him or even give it back to him.
When they are on the stairs, Sheldon doesn't want Leonard to go through with selling his stuff for good, the other two just want his stuff. When Leonard threatens to tear open the box, only Sheldon is undeterred (better for Leonard to lose one thing than all of it). Then as soon as Penny makes an appearance, only Sheldon calls her out on her hypocrisy and manipulation. At the end when Sheldon is overjoyed, it's because Leonard snapped out of the false guilt and shame that Penny laid on him. This was great acting and writing. Sheldon is a great friend to Leonard.

I know Penny’s the one in the wrong here, but Leonard’s an idiot as well to just let her get into his head and make him change who he is and get rid of the things he loves, Penny did apologise at least, but Leonard couldn’t do anything unless it would impress her or make her like him, that’s one of the things I didn’t like about Leonard that he was always out to impress Penny or Priya and just let them take him for granted and change everything about him even things he loved that were part of who he is.
