One thing people forget is Sega make these arcades from the ground up. The actual game, the cab, the music and gameplay is one big venture. The rolling start, the instant action, the music and short experience is all designed like an amusement park. 30 years ago these machine were “attractions” and not “video games”. Going to the arcade was a day out, much like going to the fair. So when Sega made arcade games, they were designed to turn a profit. When you break down games like Daytona, its a bare bones game but it has enough pizazz to make you slide a dollar (or pound coin) and play. Sega brought you experiences, not gaming.
You're right, this one was made with lots of attention, It must be in the top 5 racing arcades of all time. My reasons, the steering wheel, I never felt anything like It after that, the moment the auto pilot turned off you were like wow! This was a real attraction. A cousin and me spent some money one night on this one and we used to hit the cars when there was the chance. Boy that steering wheel. Kudos to Sega, what a piece of engineering .
Helped my brother drag this from an arcade back to his house, jesus the thing is massive and weighs an absolute ton, it was a nightmare from start to finish to transport and then get through his double patio doors, it took hours, was it worth it? It's a game we grew up on as kids together in the arcade, bet your ass it was worth it!
I know this is a super old post but does anyone know how to access the leaderboards on these machines? My work just got one of these machines and we're all trying to beat each others times and we can't find out how to access the times.
bonzoktube bufff, eso es muy complicado, el primer Sega Rally me impresionó muchísimo, el 2 es una burrada, y eso por no hablar de otros como Scud Race...el “problema” de Sega es que en los 90 creaba una joya tras otra.
This was state of the art back then. Sega worked with Lockheed martin to create the board that cost 2k to give us the first 3D rendering before anyone else was able to do it. I can imagine this would be quite expensive today because of its nostalgia.
The model shown off here is the twin cabinet. On twin cabinets, the normal "choose a race course" music is replaced with "waiting for entry" music. In other words, it plays while it waits for the other player to join.
I agree man, I want them too. But they're getting rarer each year as arcades don't know about them and when they breakdown they just throw them out. My arcade has just replaced a old sitting Daytona USA twin that was broken sitting there for 2 years with a kiddie machine. :/
i used to fix these :) press start again for a time trial... on that you can do the lap in reverse and pass :) press the start button during a race to stop the fruit machine and get 777 for something special :)
Sebastian Acevedo looking at closing arcades or ones that are circulating theirs and getting rid of the new ones might be worth a shot, it’d probably cost a bit, but you get the benefit of testing and or looking over them over for defects. Then of course eBay usually has a couple, although it’s kinda pricey and 9 time’s out of 10 it’s for pick up.
I wish i owned Daytona USA cabinet and Daytona USA 2 Power Edition cabinet but the problem is they cost a fortune and i have no space in my house to put them lol at least i can play Daytona USA on my xbox 360 they really need to release Daytona USA 2 on xbox 360 and ps3 with online multiplayer and a Power Edition add on, that would make my day! better yet i wish to run my own arcade with all of the awesome SEGA arcade games, that would be a wish come true lol ;D
This machine stands out. There's tons of racer games but this one grabs your attention over nearly everything else in an arcade
Maybe because of the "DAYYYTONAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA"
@@EdouardPicard0224 my thoughts exactly
Even though I live in australia there is a ton of good daytona usa cabinets whenever I hear one I instantly run over with $2
Brings back a lot of memories, thank you. Btw the secret in winning is drifting on corners and selecting manual transmission.
Hated automatic. Loved drifting around all the corners on the 2nd track.
The theme music takes me back to my childhood. ❤️ Back when I'd sit on the seat with my hands on the wheel, but my dad was the one steering it.
ME TOO!!!!! 😋🥰😊

@@chupacabra0_098 … yeah, the steering wheel fought back. Your dollar went further than 1 credit.
They worked with Lockheed Martin to create the board to run this on. Best there was back then
This is still my most favorite arcade racing game even after 23 years later
Gosh this music takes me straigh back to my childhood, at Butlins or by a beach in the UK somewhere.. Great times man.
this is my childhood right here xD
Mine too!!!
I played this game so much in Sega Saturn when i was a kid...
You actually had a Saturn!? Do you still have iy?
u got to see the one in philadelphia mills is awesome the chair moves and responds on how you drive best experience ever i love this classic game
beautiful machine, such a classic =)
Memories. Down shift into 2nd and drift the turns.
2:39 This man needs to be disqualified.
Lmao
announcer 1:We have A high speed crash o- announcer 2: OH NO WE HAVE A MAN RECREATING THE MATRIX HERE

This nostalgic catchy song never stops in loop 😂
The amount of money I put into this machine while being at college was crazy 😅 loved it.
3 2 1 GO! And they’re under way
Best game at the time. There's been lines out the door to play that.. Place I went to had 6 players you can race.
Shift into 2nd, 3rd and 4th gear, without lifting the gas or touching the brakes, when enter Sonic's turn! You'll drift nicely thru the turn.
Please choose manual or automatic transmission
I know this is a super old post but does anyone know how to access the leaderboards on these machines? My work just got one of these machines and we're all trying to beat each others times and we can't find out how to access the times.

Es verdad... el 2 esta bien chingo. el 1 y el 2 estan buenisimos pero el 3 es una re cagadaa
I want one of this in my house, RIGHT NOW
So do I! My mom and I live in an apartment, though, so our neighbor might not like the noise. 😅
This was state of the art back then. Sega worked with Lockheed martin to create the board that cost 2k to give us the first 3D rendering before anyone else was able to do it. I can imagine this would be quite expensive today because of its nostalgia.
Turn 4 was tricky.. I used to downshift to 3rd and try to get poweslides .. remember that 17 flt or high 16s was a good lap time
The "Please select a race course" tune is different than the one I hear when playing the game on the Sega Model 2 emulator. Why is that?
The model shown off here is the twin cabinet. On twin cabinets, the normal "choose a race course" music is replaced with "waiting for entry" music. In other words, it plays while it waits for the other player to join.
Definitely on my arcade bucket list along with galaga street fighter 2 and donkey Kong I don’t want my man cave to be a full blown arcade
I was playing a working one last week at an old arcade...FUN AS HELL

Awesome!!! Not very often you see an Arcade Cab in such a condition. It's brand new, how much is the cost?
That is really hard to film and drive at the same time.
Try to use the gear next time
THEEEYY ATE TUUNNAAAAAA
we need a new daytona usa game
Daytona game love for ever😢❤❤😮
how much for one of these?
Amusement arcades in the UK are still riddled with these ancient sega arcade machines and cost £1 a game! Why don't the make new ones?!
I agree man, I want them too. But they're getting rarer each year as arcades don't know about them and when they breakdown they just throw them out. My arcade has just replaced a old sitting Daytona USA twin that was broken sitting there for 2 years with a kiddie machine. :/
Try to go easy on the car!
i used to fix these :) press start again for a time trial... on that you can do the lap in reverse and pass :) press the start button during a race to stop the fruit machine and get 777 for something special :)
It's on the 360 & on PS3.
Any advice on where to get new side art for the cab?
When you get to the hairpin hold brake for like a millisecond and mash the acceleration and drift it.
This one has sold buy we can refurbish to this standard.
but what is Autodrive and how is it used?
only used on the beginner stage. it just means the game is driving for you before the race starts
Minha adolescência até me arrepiei.
