  • I'm on a quest to learn about learning. I spent a month learning the tin whistle and I discovered an instrument that I had previously only fancied and now that I love.
I'm going to continue and learn more instruments--Make sure and subscribe since I'll be learning a lot more this year.
I spent a month learning bongos recently, check out how much I learned in 30 days here: • I Studied the Bongos f...
What goals are you working on?

Cool video and concept, and you did make a nice amount of progress. I wish I'd thought to record myself when I was just starting out. I hope you continue learning the whistle, but there are a lot of neat instruments out there, and it would be interesting to see how far one can progress in 30 days for each one.
My current musical goal is to make my playing smoother and less error filled. I also want to build about an hour's worth of sets that I enjoy and can play well. I have a lot of music in my head, but most in various stages of polish. I also want to flute as easily as I can whistle. I'm going to New York this summer, and I'd love to be able to fully participate in a few sessions, so I have nearly five months to work on my skill set.
Anyhow, keep up the good work! I should start editing my videos...

Wow, those are amazing goals! The skill level you'd have to have to be able to participate in a session is nothing short of impressive.
This was such an interesting experience because I knew next to nothing about the tin whistle, and by the end of the month I had fallen in love with the instrument, and it was kind of hard to leave the instrument behind. It's definitely on the shortlist of instruments I want to continue progressing on. Who knows what next year will bring! :)
      Good luck on your goals!

@@SoundAdventurer you too! Playing in a session isn't an unreachable goal if you break it up into smaller chunks. Just start with a few easy tunes, learn them slow, then speed up as you perfect them. At first you'll do most of your time sitting and listening, but you'll start to pick up the session favorites if you keep working at it. Whistle is one of the easiest instruments to consistently practice because they're so darn portable.
