Oh my goodness. What an inspirational man. And as for the penny whistle, I never heard it played with such improvisation and Les Lieber makes it his own 'jazz' style. Oh happy day!
What a wonderful, inspiring and gifted gentleman! I hope he does "stir up some competition" and inspire another generation of players. Thanks for this delightful portrait.
Natalie, Great job . I think you really got the essence of his warmth and charm. I love swing my mom in the background near the kitchen. :)) thank you, Jon Lieber
1:27 those riffs even while in the background are super nice 3:16 very cool, i might even steal it lol i only wish to do this for that long with the same passion as you
This afternoon, TCM aired a "soundie" in which Les Lieber is the first act~a very, very young fellow. The soundie also featurd a young woman singing, but it was Les who brought me to TH-cam, which has that soundie! now, I find him at 100 still playing! How amazing is that?!
Had the pleasure of meeting the drivers on Holland America ship with the fabulous entertainer Stryker and it was a magical evening and it was Mr leibers 105 birthday. he and his, wife r so darling a nightvi will never forget

He was featured in the Vitaphone / W-B short, "Saturday Night Swing Club - On the Air" in 1939 playing "It Had To Be You".
