Based on the game's lore, they come from the fossilized (but still alive) bodies of an ancient crystal scorpions' race (Skarner's race, from League of Legends). This detail is totally absent in Arcane, and it's a pity, because it would be soo beautiful to see Piltover discover those crystals' origin and being occupied in a war against Skarner's race. We even have Seraphine (another League of Legends character), a stupid and capitalist idol who discover that origin, but still she choose to go on using those crystals and killing that race, just to be able to use her inventions to sing. All those possible plot options, totally deleted from the story.

You guys talk about how Marcus “begrudgingly” accepts Jayce’s orders, but in reality, it’s implied that Marcus manipulates Jayce to make him give that order. Think about it; Marcus first brings up the mandatory search idea, and if you look carefully at his facial expressions during the scene, it’s clear that he has intent in what’s going on. It’s implied that since Silco tells him that Vi and Caitlin “cannot be allowed to resurface”, Marcus uses searching for the gemstone as an excuse to catch them once they re-enter the city.
I'm a believer of Marcus caused everything. he got Grayson killed. he took vi and put her in prison. all the way to him blocking ekko maybe making a deal. the whole, entire shit, is marcus's fault
Anytime someone brings up Jinx’s past, it’s a trigger for her. But Silco not only loves and cares for her, as seen multiple times in their interactions, but he’s that calming voice that knows what to say when she’s having a panic attack.

1:16:12 That "Are you real?" is so heartbreaking! I always seek out the sequence starting with Jinx lighting the torch, whenever I watch a reaction that includes episode 6. The whole thing is so ridiculously powerful to watch.
Yeah! It’s a powerful like when you realize that she can’t trust what she sees as she has hallucinated seeing Vi so many times in the past that she questions of what she’s seeing is actually real. It’s when Vi touches powder that she starts to understand that it is in fact Violet in front of her.
The visual depiction of Powder's mental state is stunning; beautifully tragic. Seeing her haunted visions as hand-drawn overlays is such an effective touch and kudos should go to the director and art-design team for their work. This show is an oil painting come to life.
You didn’t really talk about it but In case you didn’t notice; we got kinda reintroduced to 3 characters. The man in vikktor’s backstory is the same man that worked with Silco for the first 3 episodes doing the experiments with shimmer. He got caught in powder’s explosion in episode 3 but revealed here is that he survived but is badly burned (in the scene where Vikktor says “I understand now”. The guy who’s all messed up in the deep undercity that helped Caitlin is Huck, the guy that Vander helped in the first episode who was trying to do a trade deal. Finally, we have Sky whose name we hear in vikktor’s flashback (the girl on the rock). We later hear her name again from Jayce referring to the female assistant working with the boys (so it’s likely she’s known/cared about Vikktor for a long time). GreaT reaction as always! Can’t wait for the last section of episodes!
Also the bartender that Jinx pranked is likely the boy that chased Powder in the first episode and made her drop the loot into the water; he has the same facial features.
@@MegaMilenche Canonically they're partners on the force. It is HEAVILY implied through multiple voice lines in game, stories/lore, and even in this show that they have more going on in their "partnership".
It was confirmed by a creator the time skip was of 6-7 years, that would make Powder/Jinx be 17-19 right now. Jayce is 30-31 and Vi and Caitlyn are in their very early 20s.
Fun fact jinx panic attack was so realistic. You had a trigger for said attack. You're heart rate increases. Breathing becomes difficult then it passes.
About the Crows: There is another character called Swain in League of Legends, the universe Arcane is based in, who is a master tactician for another of the territories, and he can use and see through the eyes of Crows to gain knowledge of whats happening all over the world. That is why you regularly notice Crows around every important scene in Arcane.
Maybe. In most of the art, Swain's crows are mutated (with extra eyes), so if they're sticking to the canon design then these are just birds. That said, Noxus is basically the only other region they acknowledge in this series, so it's possible that they've written out the unique look of his ravens so that they didn't end up with a WTF aspect that they weren't planning on explaining this season.
Honestly, crows in media tend to just represent death/loss/being a bad omen. The reason why they are seen around important scenes is they have that common theme with Jinx lol Swain uses Ravens, not Crows.
Nah man,its a play with her. Jinx was close eith ekko, similar age and both were kinda cowards and admired vi,in the end jinx became a phycho and ekko a savior. Ekko founded the firelights and there is a scene of little powder vomiting a firelight, that means she lost her chance to be a savior. And in the end she sat on the crow chair(the jinx chair) meaning she is no way near a savior, she is a killer
Episode 1, gets you interested. Episode 3, makes you love the show. Episode 5, makes you love the individual characters. Episode 9...well, you'll see. Btw, Vi and Caitlyn are very much "just friends." 😉
One of my favourite moments in episode 6 is when Jinx says "are you real?". It's so heartbreaking because Jinx sees and hears Vi in her mind all the time. And the scribbles around Jinx when she's experiencing PTSD? The ways they show Jinx's mental health struggles is brilliant and sad.
What also notable is Jinx made a very rough version of what Jayce had out of SCRAPS. And on her first try at that. If that doesn’t speak to her intellect and knowledge idk what does.
I think Riot has said that Jinx is the smartest person in the game. It's unclear if that translates over into the show (being THE smartest person alive), but she's clearly brilliant.
@@joshuafischer684 I'm not sure if they said it, but I think she's not the smartest person in the game. In game lore people like Zilean or Heimerdinger are smarter and Bel'veth has to be smart, but she consumes knowledge, talents and abilities of beings she devoures and she devoured whole civilizations. I would say Jinx is in top 10 smartest people and even better as an engineer/inventor
I’m an animation nerd and was freaking out when I saw you guys were going to react to this show! I’m so glad my favorite channel is sharing my love for animation, especially seeing the whole gang here for these videos❤❤
Don’t know if you guys caught it, but the guy in the Viktor flashback was the same guy who was helping Silco develop the shimmer in eps 1-3. That’s why his face is all singed now after the explosion in ep 3.
Another fun little easter egg: The musician at the concert is modeled after Ray Chen, a very prominent violinist who appears on a few tracks on the soundtrack, including the one playing in that scene!
One of my favorite shots in the entire series is at 33:04 when you can see a perspective shot of Marcus trapped in a "box". More than anything, it's reinvigorating just how subtle--yet clearly intentional--many of the smaller details are in this show. In an era of entertainment that's often stifled by safe, by-the-numbers productions, I love how Arcane reinforces and recontextualizes what we should be expecting from industry creatives in other media. It doesn't tell you 'how' to feel, but gives you the reality of the conflict and allows you to form your own thoughts. It's tight, lacking the necessity for filler. Arcane stands on its merits and deserves all the praise it gets, but it also saddens me a little that it takes something so head-and-shoulders above the rest of the industry to get their competitors to wake up and re-examine what their medium should strive to be like. EDIT: The fight choreography is clearly outstanding. Though I think beyond the animation and attention-to-detail, it's due in part to their willingness to let the scene breathe and create tension. There are genres where breakneck speed in fights can be exhilarating, but having the patience to let a fight be more than the protagonist just crumpling their opponents like paper in the typical "rule of cool" fashion allows for the opportunity to see the conflict evolve in real time.
@45:45 FINALLY SOMEONE WHO APPRECIATES THE CAMEO. I swear every reactor clowns on it, probably because they think it's cool to hate on Imagine Dragons, but personally, I think it's super sick. Regardless of what you think of their music, Imagine Dragons and League have a lot of history together so I think it's really cool of Riot to honor them like this!
Rumor is that it's been about a 7-year time lapse between episode 3 and 4. I think that Jayce and Viktor are a little too naive to believe they have created just "tools" and not weapons. In the cave scene with young Viktor, the adult person is named Singed, and is the doctor who was with Silco on the first episode. The creature that he has "cultivated" is seen later in a vat when older Viktor comes back to the cave. The creature is what Singed creates the shimmer from and is continually refining the "drug". It is very addictive, but in very tiny doses can also be used for medical purposes. The scruffy guy who takes Caitlyn to get the "medicine" for Vi is the same person (Huck) who was in the bar during the scene in episode 1 when Vander intervenes with his "negotiations". In reference to Cait trading her rifle for the "medicine", I think that it makes a similarity of trading something that can take a life for something that can give life.
I'll say it once again, I love your channel and series/movies choice. It's always entertaining and never dissapoints. Also! huge thanks for making more content around animation Found you because of ATLA and then got Invincible and now Arcane, couldn't be better
I still cannot emphasize enough how happy I am that you are reacting to this by full Acts and not each individual Episode. Cannot wait for the last part!
Powder didnt wanna go fight people. She didnt want to feel useless. The fact that it revolved around fighting is just cuz THATS what she was left out of. Remember in episode 1 when they faught Dekkard and hia goons. Poweder didnt really dance with joy being caught up in that, she ran away, terrified. She has separation anxiety and a massove infernority complex. Not blood lust.
You know that people aren't just their disabilities, right? You can be bloodthirsty AND disturbed. I can't think of a single unselfish decision this character has taken in the entire show. She was always like this, it just took her this long and some encouragement and means to really show it. The very last thing she requires is yet more undue sympathy.
I disagree...We see that Jinx killed the bird for absolutely no reason. She even looked at it and thought about her actions, as it clearly meant her no harm. Which demonstrated that a) she has little to no regard/respect for life, or b) she likes killing. Neither of which are mutually exclusive.
@@lilscenechick1995yes but I think op was talking about *Powder* not *Jinx* because despite being the same person, they are not the same. Powder wasn't blood thirsty or eager to fight constantly, Jinx is. Someone once said "Powder would be absolutely terrified of Jinx"
@@jordanrayne4779 Yes, that IS what I meant. But alos, this transfers over to Jinx. Jinx isnt bloodthirsty either, she is ruthless and violent but shes not killing poeple cuz she enjoys watching the light fade from their eyes. That would be bloodlust. She just doesnt have a moral compass outside her own emotion. Bloodthirst is called bloodthirst cuz thats literally what it means, thirsting for blood. Do anyone of you think that fits Jinx in this show? If you do I think youve fundamentally misunderstood Jinx as a character The reason she can kill the crow for no reason is not cuz she has a thirst for blood, she killed in on a whim, she didnt linger on it, she didnt revel in it. cuz it doesnt matter to her, life as a concept has no value in her mind. Like kids burning ants with a magnifying glass, generally speaking, are not doing it to satisfy some sadistic need to kill, its just that you, as a kid, dont think of ants as living beings in that way and youre just fascinated that you can burn them with the magnifyer. Powder and Jinx are both *_constantly_* trying to prove themselves, to fit in, to not be ueless, his is their only fundamental drive The fact that Jinx is a violent sociopath just affects the way this need for belonging manifests itself, the need to be accepted is still the driving force behind everything she does.
I like the way the characters are written because they all have their own flaws and shortcomings and hopes and dreams and strengths. They feel very human, which isn't always the case, especially in animated shows.
I'm so happy you guys are reacting to this! Arcane might the best piece of animated art out there, the creators really take their time with it. Season two should release in late 2024 hopefully, I'm so hyped! Can't wait for y'all to finish season 1, you're really in for something! :D
There's a great "Making Of" series that was released to TH-cam and in that they talked about how they didnt actually use any motion capture. The animators used a lot of references where they might film themselves acting out a scene and performing the blocking for the scene and then they would animate using that as reference
This show is great. It was a great way to put the characters in the game on screen and really expand the lore. Makes me excited to see what they do with season 2. I also hope you guys keep going with animated shows. (Maybe even anime) that would be great
It's great rewatching this with you guys. I watched it multiple times when it released, and I love seeing your reactions because they mirror my original excitement, surprise, and thoughts. Keep them coming and the fans like me will keep watching with you.
Im usually pleasantly surprised when i see a good youtube recommendation, but this one i was DEFENITELY anticipating. Cant wait for the third act reaction guys 🤘
15:43 It is great that you mention that, as Jinx, in spite of her Harley Quinn aesthetic, in regards of her personality, was originally designed to be a Joker type of character with a bit of Gollum from TLOTR.
55:56 The answer to this question can be found in the series of videos Bridging the Rift that was released after the show that goes into all the behind the scenes information and production of the show. I highly recommend watching them as it provides much more perspective on the show and you can gain a much deeper appreciation for the time and effort it took to make it.
Episodes 1-3 were great - super high quality in every regard. But this is the part where the show gets as close to damn near perfect I think I’ve ever seen. Absolutely phenomenal.
Such a great scene at the end there. It’s torturous though how close they came to reconciliation. If Caitlin hadn’t come up the steps, and if the Firelights didn’t attack, things might have been different. And there are a hundred points in this show where you see how things might have been different if only luck or choices had gone slightly differently. This show is a case study in great storytelling
If you can't see it. The whole story is a story of opposing sides. Vi and Jinx, Jayce and Herimerdinger, Vander and Silco. But the one everyone misses is the unchecked technology. While Hextech is slowly seeping through the cracks. This unstoppable power that they want to put in the hands of normal people. You have Chemtech in the hands of the undercity. Which has grown unchecked and without a single stopper. Leading to dependency and those who sell and become addicted to it.
29:56 its actually interesting that you responded with "No one wants to win like that." One of the reasons I like Arcane so much is its take on genders. Competition is a more masculine trait. While Caitlin wanted to win, she's less concerned about "being the best" than "doing things on her own terms" or her own independence.
If you rewatch the speech Silco shares with Deckard about monsters, he's foreshadowing his feelings about Jinx's problem. He sees monstrous power as aspirational so ecen though he's acutely aware of the consequences caused by her actions he can't really rein them in because he admires her power and afraid of losing it.
Poor Heimerdinger. He's a 300+ year old super genius and he can barely get a scene without a "SNARF". I wouldn't have guessed you guys were yordlephobic😆
discussing every detail in the series would take an actual year nonstop. The one true masterpiece ever since i first saw it. i havent seen anything top it.
That action piece in Ep6 is so good with how chaotic it is. We get to see Vi and Jinx fighting back to back but the Firelights mess everything up and leave Jinx alone AGAIN 😭
Cards: Death, Magician - relevant to Viktor. Who is trying to 'Cheat death'. This series is a mastercraft of animation storytelling and cinematography mastery.
I always tear up the second Powder lights the torch. (I think she is Powder in that moment, not Jinx) She is hopeful but still carrying the weight of her trauma (shown with the boys on her back). Each time I watch I want it to go better even though I know it isn’t going to change. I guess I am hopeful as well.
They're the same person really. Jinx just wants to pretend she doesn't have a choice so she can justify her cruel actions / not break from the guilt of her mistakes. She was always both.
No, Caitlyn was gone. The Firelight who knocked her out threw a smoke bomb and vanished with her. At 1:18:26 you see two Firelights over Vi, and Jinx facing a third Firelight. The rest are gone, no Caitlyn.
Recently stumbled upon you guys, watched your entire harry potter series in like.. a day.. been looking forward to this one in particular. Love ARCANE. Keep on!
I'm pretty sure somebody already pointed out this, but if not - Heimerdinger's name is combination of two very famous real life scientists - Oppenheimer and Schrödinger.
You guys missed multiple things: 1. Jinx didn’t magically knew how to work with the Hextech crystal stone. Jayce said it in episode 4 that she also stole the research papers that’s why she had the books and a bunch of papers. Jayce and Viktor research helped a lot but of course she is super smart as she showed since a child with the punching machine she created, the shooting machine, etc, so she is super smart in order to understand the books and papers and complete it but it wasn’t 100% her. 2. The man in Viktor flashback is the same guy that worked for Silco and created Shimmer. Just like with Sabina he didn’t die, he got burned but he didn’t die. 3. The guy who’s all mess up with the glasses in the undercity in episode 6 that said he was a friend of the family that was Huck, the guy Vander helped in the first episode with the money transaction that the other two didn’t wanted to pay him. 4. The little girl in the flashback that was looking at Viktor making the boat a boy called her “Sky” that’s his assistant that likes him.
Wow these episodes are getting bigger and bigger with story! With Jinx, VI, and Caitlyn. Jace and Viktor and more so much! Love it! What did we miss?

The fact that we will see more scenes of their relationship in Season 2 excites me.
@@n0bleonline222Eww
@@n0bleonline222isn't he dead? how?
@@n0bleonline222 how do u know that??
Can't upvote this comment enough, important information it seemed you guys missed
I thought they'd at least catch on that it was the survival of the "mutation" that led to the production of shimmer.
@@jynxce ive watched arcane 3 times and didnt realize that until now lol
Also the bartender that Jinx pranked is likely the boy that chased Powder in the first episode and made her drop the loot into the water; he has the same facial features.
I did not catch that Skye showed up in viktor’s backstory! Thanks for pointing that out
Cait was going to the prison to talk to the big tattooed guy and only got to Vi by looking for the person who attacked him.
“reluctant friendship” .. honey, you’ve got a big storm coming 😀
Eh, what's so new and spectacular about their relationship? It's just vaguely Romeo and Juliet like, nothing special.
@@MegaMilenche Canonically they're partners on the force. It is HEAVILY implied through multiple voice lines in game, stories/lore, and even in this show that they have more going on in their "partnership".
Always love seeing reactors expecting something lighter, knowing damn well it won't lmao. Excited to see what you guys think of it!
Fun detail- the tattoo on Vi's cheek is VI, or 6 in roman numerals, but that's also 5 and 1. Her prisoner number is 516.
This is neither fun nor a fact
@@cthulhuwu_hen may we be informed how it actually is like?
No
@@cthulhuwu_so u dont have an increased heart rate and difficulty breathing while having a panic attack?
I also love Jayce's anxiety when he gets nominated for the council. He looks like he isn't too far from low key panic himself.
That said, Noxus is basically the only other region they acknowledge in this series, so it's possible that they've written out the unique look of his ravens so that they didn't end up with a WTF aspect that they weren't planning on explaining this season.
bigger controller of crows fiddlesticks
Honestly, crows in media tend to just represent death/loss/being a bad omen. The reason why they are seen around important scenes is they have that common theme with Jinx lol
Swain uses Ravens, not Crows.
Feels illegal to be this early. I was literally just checking if you'd uploaded Act 2 yet.
Lit same
Mason: I think were gonna see more of a reluctant friendship between Vi and Caitlyn...
🏳️🌈: " f r i e n d s h i p " ?
😂
Episode 1, gets you interested. Episode 3, makes you love the show. Episode 5, makes you love the individual characters. Episode 9...well, you'll see.
Btw, Vi and Caitlyn are very much "just friends."
😉
100% 🫠
@@jdksdj11 or Aurelion Sol
@@justfresh179 Aurelion Sol is the most powerful, but he was outsmarted by Aspects.
So excited for this next group of episodes especially!!! Thank you all for being awesome~
The fact that all y’all tipped your fedoras at “m’lady” at 11:15 😂😂😂😂
One of my favorite shots in the entire series is at 33:04 when you can see a perspective shot of Marcus trapped in a "box".
"I'm the monster you created" and "get jinxed" are two music videos you should definitely watch once you are through with Arcane.
The monster is just soundtrack. Get jinxed is great though
No MoCap. Pure animation. That is how good this show is.
I'll say it once again, I love your channel and series/movies choice. It's always entertaining and never dissapoints. Also! huge thanks for making more content around animation
Found you because of ATLA and then got Invincible and now Arcane, couldn't be better
their choice in animation is top notch!
I actually love that Silco genuinly cares for Jinx as a father to her even of its not healthy. It shows he can care.
I still cannot emphasize enough how happy I am that you are reacting to this by full Acts and not each individual Episode. Cannot wait for the last part!
4 straight guys missing the flirting between Vi and Caitlynn can't say I'm surprised.
1:15:54 Jinx's face has a special rig so they can change it from more menacing to more childlike so she looked more like Powder
@@jordanrayne4779
Yes, that IS what I meant.
If you do I think youve fundamentally misunderstood Jinx as a character
The reason she can kill the crow for no reason is not cuz she has a thirst for blood, she killed in on a whim, she didnt linger on it, she didnt revel in it. cuz it doesnt matter to her, life as a concept has no value in her mind.
Like kids burning ants with a magnifying glass, generally speaking, are not doing it to satisfy some sadistic need to kill, its just that you, as a kid, dont think of ants as living beings in that way and youre just fascinated that you can burn them with the magnifyer.
Powder and Jinx are both *_constantly_* trying to prove themselves, to fit in, to not be ueless, his is their only fundamental drive
The fact that Jinx is a violent sociopath just affects the way this need for belonging manifests itself, the need to be accepted is still the driving force behind everything she does.
Hearing y'alls predictions for the rest of the season makes me so excited to watch your reactions! Prepare yourselves!
Hopefully the strikes aren't slowing it further.
I've been playing league of legends for 10 years, and ive been watching you for 2. this is my dream combo. badd and arcane together!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I hope you can heal from the pain that is LoL eventually. Wishing u the best!
Silco is just so casually menacing whenever he threatens people, it's great.
Funny how Silco berates Marcus for not being able to keep Katelyn under control, when Silco himself can't control Jinx.
Never heard you guys compliment the shots so much. And in an animated show too! It really is beautiful and unique
Oh hell yes I'm ready for this!! I'll never grow tired of Arcane bro
43:55 "You see what's happening? I get the vib that he's going to go down here, while Viktor is focused on work" :D :D
It’s crazy how I woke up 60 seconds ago and saw you guys uploaded 3 minutes ago. Keep up the great work guys!
I can only hit the like button once! Been great reliving this show with you guys. Thank you for posting!
00:01 I don’t know why but the fact that he nearly broke makes me laugh
1:13:30 will always bring tears to my eyes. She never wanted any of this.
I love watching you guys. You're so wholesome and have so much heart.
The 5 part documentary series on the making of arcane is amazing. Would love a reaction. A great view into amazing artists at work
There is no motion cap. The whole animation is done on key frames.
55:00 I think the word you wanted was "Choreography", which absolutely applies to animation.
I loved this reaction, but oh man, calling Viktor Jayce's "assistant" with absolutely NO irony 🤣🤣🤣😭😭😭
Jayce is busy "doing councillor stuff" with Mel 43:55. That was a funny commentary.
29:56 its actually interesting that you responded with "No one wants to win like that."
One of the reasons I like Arcane so much is its take on genders.
Can't wait for episode 7, honestly my favorite.
Zero Mo Cap! ….zero. Arcane is an absolute masterpiece from every angle of production.
"Lighter mode episode". Oh yeah. Jinx: "That's meee!"
5:24 "Some kinda monster in there."
Yeah... Jinx!! 😈😈😈
The yordel in a gimp suit! 😂😂😂
Thanks for the content! You guys sure would love the Peaky Blinders.
Ready willing and able to watch this with you guys.
Love from Iceland.
I love how you all screaming no when the credits roll. Awesome reactions keep it coming 😊😊
That one shot when Vi jumped off the roof to the other, her exact pose reminds me of Spider-Gwen's jumping pose in Spiderverse...coincidence???
Oooh yeah! They have the same voice actor so I wonder if it was on purpose 🤔
Amazing guys, amazing show, amazing channel!
The fights are incredible in this show. They feel so scrappy and meaty. It's messy but still stylish. Love it
Poor Heimerdinger. He's a 300+ year old super genius and he can barely get a scene without a "SNARF". I wouldn't have guessed you guys were yordlephobic😆
discussing every detail in the series would take an actual year nonstop. The one true masterpiece ever since i first saw it. i havent seen anything top it.
Can’t wait for part 3, its going to be epic!!
That action piece in Ep6 is so good with how chaotic it is. We get to see Vi and Jinx fighting back to back but the Firelights mess everything up and leave Jinx alone AGAIN 😭
I love that the one councilor is still trying to solve that child's toy that Mel got him for his birthday 10 years ago lmao
Cards: Death, Magician - relevant to Viktor. Who is trying to 'Cheat death'.
This series is a mastercraft of animation storytelling and cinematography mastery.
I always tear up the second Powder lights the torch. (I think she is Powder in that moment, not Jinx)
She is hopeful but still carrying the weight of her trauma (shown with the boys on her back). Each time I watch I want it to go better even though I know it isn’t going to change. I guess I am hopeful as well.
They're the same person really. Jinx just wants to pretend she doesn't have a choice so she can justify her cruel actions / not break from the guilt of her mistakes. She was always both.
Man I just woke up saw the notification about this video man I woke up and clicked so fast glad you guys are enjoying it
Oh man, what an arc! I’m loving this journey with you guys 🙌🏾 ⚡️
Epic show! glad your reviewing and enjoying it! The bar never stops rising!
You guys missed multiple things:
Woohoo, just in time!
Loving your reactions to this masterpiece of a show ❤
Fun Fact: Pim is the same voice actor as Silco
