Kebi was brought to Cleveland on a breeding recommendation by the gorilla SSP. (Kambera was about 14 at that time). Also, when Kambera was about 18 years old she was moved to Zoo Atlanta for the same reason. The gorilla SSP want to create Self sustaining, genetically diverse populations for future generations.
CLAP IT UP EVERYBODY 👏🏽 👏🏽 👏🏽👏🏽 and Send CONGRATULATIONS 🍾🎊 🥳🎈🥂🎁 to Madam KEBI 💕🥰🦋🌺💜 Rumor has it her daughter KAMBERA is expecting a little bundle of Primate JOY in the next several weeks 🥰 Also, KEBI deserves Honor and Congratulations for the truly EXCELLENT Mama she is to her own baby KUNDA 👸🏻 I LOVE them BOTH 😍 so very Much. SHE’s the Superlative EXAMPLE of what a Loving, Caring and ATTENTIVE Gorilla Mama 🥰 should be, and what I’d like to see in Gorilla Mamas in aLL the different families that I watch on YT. However, Sadly, there are FEW who are able to follow Kebi’s example for one reason or another MOSTLY due to the Inadvertent negligence of **Keepers** IN MY OPINION. So DON’T Anyone jump in my comments with their dribble about how Christlike the Keepers are 🙄 because they’re human and therefore NOT perfect. I believe there are too few of them perhaps 🤷🏽♀️ or the money 💰 and Resources aren’t Readily available for them to be ABLE to give every Gorilla Personalized and round-the-cLock care.

Fantastic video thank you. The picture quality with your new video camera is excellent and the ability to focus beyond the fence makes a big difference. Which video camera you are using please?
Reviewing that again, I did see the red dot on Kebi’s right wrist. Not sure the source - she didn’t seem to not be affected by it. Camera aberration maybe 🤷♂️ because it was only visible for a few seconds.
Was it only me, or did anyone else see what appeared to be a boo boo on Kebi's right forearm? A spot of red, with missing chunk of fur appears while she's eating...
He has accepted them. They didn’t just toss Jameela in there with them. She spent weeks next to the gorillas at the back of their indoor habitat. He was able to see, hear and smell her over that time frame before she was introduced inside the habitat.

Play…not with Jameela or Kunda. He has been up close to the babies- even reaches out to touch l, but then a mom will pull baby away from big Daddy. He does play with Kayembe. That’s usually Mokolo sittting on ground or in hammock while Kayembe runs into or jumps on daddy. I don’t have much video in that since those two are a ball of black fur and/or large crowds gather to watch.
Wow, Mokolo is a BIG boy in comparison to Freddy! I wonder if Mokolo mated with Freddy and he thinks Jameela is his or does he not remember mating with her but thinks he must have because there are no other males, hence Jameela is his. Any thoughts (or knowledge) on this (other than I have a lot (maybe too much 🤣) of time to wonder)? Thank you for this video, Larry! 😍
Thank you for sharing a comment today Lola. I can’t say if these two actually mated in the past. She and Kebi arrived in mid 2017 and I wasn’t following this troop at that time.
Gorillas get most of their liquids from plant materials. There are automatic drinking nipple waterers available for gorillas. Similar to something used for hamsters.
@@larrysanimalsafari I thought that was alfalfa hay I have had horses since I was a kid and alfalfa hay is the best hay especially for pregnant and lactating mares. I'm so happy these magnificent gorillas are so well taken care of
Usually it’s Freddy that prevents their touching, because Jameela is still too small to wrestle. Also, Kebi IS a very protective mom. Hopefully in a few more months the two can play together. Thanks for sharing a comment /question today Elizabeth. 👋😁
At the beginning of the video I did see the red spot for a few seconds. I’m not sure if the camera created that or not. Kebi does not seem to be affected by it. Thanks for sharing your comment/question today Diana. 👋😁
@@larrysanimalsafari Thank you for what you do. Your youtube channel is the first channel I ever subscribed to! Kayembe is my favorite, "he's trying to be patient." Super cute!!! Can't wait for all the kiddos to play together!!!!
Well thank you for taking the leap and Subscribing. Hope you enjoy more of the videos! If you’re a new subscriber let me point out I did a series of videos to introduce you to each adult gorilla. You might enjoy those - found under my playlist “meet Cleveland Gorillas”. Welcome! 👋😁
From what I’ve learned in my 2-1/2 years following gorillas, giving birth at age 8-11 is rather common, especially for something that happened 20 years ago. Gorillas physically mature faster than humans. Females are considered adults at around age 8 to 10. Males are considered as adults at age 12-15, (sexual activity/reproduction can occur for both prior to that “adult” label.). Today, having a baby at age 8 is not the norm. Now gorilla births are managed by the gorilla “Species Survival Plan”. SSP’s for zoo animals started around 1981.
Great video! Also Larry, I have question. I know you are very familiar with animal behavior and care from their keepers. Is it normal for a zoo to keep an elderly, injured and in pain gorilla with its troop even though it is hurting itself and some of troop is harassing her? This is in regard to disturbing video from the Shabani troop in Japan and its grandma Nene.
I can't bear to watch their videos. 💔 Too many countries are still treating animals like zoos did a century ago. They whale in Japan, too, so their mindset re: wildlife must be very different. (On the other hand, one of our Native American tribes were just permitted to kill whales again, as well, so I'm probably a hypocrite to compare. It's still awful.) Paz y luz 💙🙏
IamAdrienne-i completely trust Shabani's vets and keepers.they are the experts.we are not. Each Zoo knows the gorillas, the best.let's see what today brings.Gorillas are so interdependent on each other.i am praying for Nene and the family.💝🦍💝🪷
@IamAdrienne Biddy, in the UK, is going through this too. I'm starting to realize that this is normal behavior in gorilla troops. When a female gorilla becomes old or feeble, her own offspring will turn on her. I wonder if they eventually drive them out of the troop in the wild. Since Winston's death, Kamilah has basically been hiding.
@@lynngold1865 You are wearing rose-colored glasses. While zoos take good care of their gorillas, they are sometimes very slow to remove gorillas from bad situations. There are too many tragic outcomes to ignore. Have you heard the story of Bikira in Prague Zoo?
Good morning, complex situation…I see a few of my regular viewers have made some appropriate comments. I agree with what’s being said. Different countries do have different practices (some not so good). Great apes have complex relationships, removing one has its ripple effects in the others. And zoo keepers are the closest people to the animals- we have to hope they do their best to manage their care. I wonder what theyare doing to help manage Nene’s physical pain? 🤔🙏
Music was the perfect addition. I had my sound on for the first time and relaxed the entire time watching the beautiful gorillas

Thank you for sharing a comment today Claudia. 👋😁
I'm curious to know why Kebi was separated from her first child?

Yes, looking forward to Kambera having a healthy baby at Zoo Atlanta soon! Thanks for sharing a comment today Rene! 👋😁

Larry, i sent a donation to you for all your awesome videos.hope you received it b/c i dont see it posted.Thx again🎉
I usually receive two notification with any donation. I did get one but not the second. Give it a few days - maybe there was a glitch/delay. Thank you
👍😁
Larry, I just found out that Kebi's daughter is pregnant and due in a couple of months!
Oh how exciting for them - another baby! 👍😁
🦍❣
I saw that too. She looked so cute with her “baby tummy”!Kebi is going to be a grandma!!💕🦍🥰💕🦍🥰
Never knew they eat there bedding too lol
They generally eat the alfalfa hay that is in with them. The bedding is a separate item.
Fantastic video thank you. The picture quality with your new video camera is excellent and the ability to focus beyond the fence makes a big difference. Which video camera you are using please?
Thank you. And thanks for sharing a comment today. 👋😁
Hi Larry. Do you know when gorilla's begin teething?
Young gorillas begin teething at around 5 of age. 👋😁
Looks like a wound on Kebi’s right wrist area or am I just seeing things?
Reviewing that again, I did see the red dot on Kebi’s right wrist. Not sure the source - she didn’t seem to not be affected by it. Camera aberration maybe 🤷♂️ because it was only visible for a few seconds.
Was it only me, or did anyone else see what appeared to be a boo boo on Kebi's right forearm? A spot of red, with missing chunk of fur appears while she's eating...
I saw it, but was not sure if it some camera aberration.
The Silverback doesnt mind these foster babies? Does he accept them too or does he ignore ??
He has accepted them. They didn’t just toss Jameela in there with them. She spent weeks next to the gorillas at the back of their indoor habitat. He was able to see, hear and smell her over that time frame before she was introduced inside the habitat.
@@larrysanimalsafari oh ok great thanks!
Thx 🌻

Who was Kambara Dupe's father? Just ❤ watching Kebi and her little guy Kunda.
Anakka was Kambera Dupe’s father. He passed away in 2016 at Columbus Zoo during a routine exam while anesthetized.
@@larrysanimalsafari thank you, Eternal and long lasting peace to Anakka. God bless

Does Mokolo play or get near the babies?
Larry I was wondering if the gorillas drink much water. I never see them drink except when the keeper gives them bottles thru the enclosure.
Gorillas get most of their liquids from plant materials. There are automatic drinking nipple waterers available for gorillas. Similar to something used for hamsters.
@@larrysanimalsafari Thank you so much.
At 3:15 it looks like Kebi's wrist is hurt...I see an open wound. Hope she'll be healed soon.
I don’t see that in this video. Lighting is very bright/harsh. Thanks for watching and sharing your thoughts. 👋😁
Are the gorillas eating hay?
Yes, alfalfa hay and also browse and assorted greens. 👋😁
@@larrysanimalsafari I thought that was alfalfa hay I have had horses since I was a kid and alfalfa hay is the best hay especially for pregnant and lactating mares. I'm so happy these magnificent gorillas are so well taken care of
Why don't Jameela and Kunda play together? I've seen them try to touch other, but Kebi pulls Kunda away from Jameela. ❤❤
Usually it’s Freddy that prevents their touching, because Jameela is still too small to wrestle. Also, Kebi IS a very protective mom. Hopefully in a few more months the two can play together. Thanks for sharing a comment /question today Elizabeth. 👋😁
Hi Larry, any idea what happened to Kebi's arm?
Welcome! 👋😁
8years-old is really young for a gorilla to have a child. How was that allowed by the zoo?

It's still awful.)
Paz y luz 💙🙏
I wish Freddie would let Jameela attempt to interact with Mokolo
Eventually she will. 😁
🤷♂️😁. Thanks for sharing a comment today.
Thanks!
Thank you Denise! I do appreciate the extra support! 👋😁
