*I am sharing links because a lot of you have questions about sizing - which is important if you're shopping online, I get it! But I hope the biggest takeaway from this video is learning style TOOLS to use what you already have, and not buying more STUFF. My wardrobe is specific to me and my tastes - yours will be different! And that is great because fashion is about creativity and expression!
On this channel, I share #slowfashion and #sustainablefashion tips that center around how to #shopyourcloset, and restyling pieces you already own. I also spotlight brands that I believe in every now and then. I believe in #creativityoverconsumption, and that we all have the power to be conscious consumers.
Slow fashion looks different for everyone, and I'm so grateful you share this space with me!
Alyssa
xx
Never mind the negative comments about sponsorship 😊 you are always so conscious of brands you partner with and how often and I can still see you actually wear your clothes you got in previous sponsorships unlike other influencers. ❤
thank you so much for your support it means a lot! xx
@szfrj It's good to speak out as you've done here. Otherwise the 'take downs' will appear as the majority view.
I imagine it's because Sezane is a fast fashion brand and this is a channel about slow fashion so it seems contradictory
I love the concept of updating past looks. We all have clothes we'd like to repurpose and give new life to but don't know how. So many creators buy whole new wardrobes every season due to their sponsorship which is so unrealistic for most of us. I love that you've used your sponsorship to complement older pieces and show the maturity in your style. This revisionist approach to fashion appeals to me, personally.
Thank you so much for this thoughtful comment! xx
Hi Alyssa, as a human being I need to buy products. You are among the TH-camrs I trust. I know you will curate your ‘ commercials ‘. You have actually introduced me to merchandiser that I would never know existed..Brave leather, Poppy Barley, Anfibio…and I have been very pleased with my purchases. I don’t need anything from Sezane,so I won’t be buying anything, but you styled everything so well.
Thank you for appreciating the nuance and the curation of brands I work with :)
I actually love your older looks!!! They are a little more fun and funky! However your looks now are more polished and we are all ever changing and everything you put together is amazing so creative and talented 😊
they are definitely more funky! I realized though that a lot of them were done simply for the sake of it - I'm grateful for your grace for the evolution of style! xx
Back from Italy where ladies are so elegant, especially in Rome. Thought about you a lot. Thank you for the video.
Ahh thank you what a compliment. I hope you enjoyed your trip!
I love how you took your old looks, giving g positive vibes and then sharing how it was out of context. Beautiful video! Thank you!❤
I loved this, Alyssa. I think your style has really evolved beautifully. You have developed such a classy, workable wardrobe that suits your lifestyle requirements. Long-lasting pieces that fit you very well, look sophisticated, and still hold with your three words. I really love the pieces you have chosen and look forward to you styling all in a variety of ways. Those boots are just gorgeous, and the trousers are perfect on you. Thank you, and it gave me some great styling ideas for my own clothing 🤎
Thank you so much for these kind words - I'm so glad you appreciate the message behind the video!
Your updated wardrobe edits are awesome! Love the turn from old pics towards more classic yet interesting looks. So pretty!
I love the way you talked about context - it was relatable. There was a tone of kindness in there - forgiveness for past decisions, maybe. ❤
:) Thank you xx
Present day alyssa is much more sophisticated in presentation and style.
Love the updates to your past looks! While they were all great the first time, I love how you changed them to something that felt more authentically you. You have inspired me to look at some of my past looks and see if I can do something similar, thank you Alyssa!
You never cease to amaze me Ms. Beltempo 😊
Thank you for being here!!❤❤
Blue and brown is one of my FAVORITE color combos. So glad to see it here as well ❤
Aaand, I learned something about wearing a wide leg cropped pant for winter--thank you!
I love the outfits that you put together, but it was a little overwhelming to see so many new Sezane pieces in one video. I would have loved to see you integrate more pieces from your beautifully curated closet, because that always helps me to focus on shopping my closet before making new purchases. 💕
I love the new outfits! In some of the older ones, it felt like the clothes were wearing you, and in the new oufits, you are the centerpiece! Well done! ❤
oooh thank you - I couldn't articulate it but that makes sense!
Great observation!
I liked all your old outfits and I think they were fine. I understand what you were saying about context though. I think that's a common mistake our younger selves used to make. And the thing about feeling true to ourselves. Finally, I love Sezane and I am happy to see how you slowly incorporate new items to your wardrobe over time. I really wish they would expand their pant cuts a little bit to accommodate pear shaped bodies. It would not hurt to offer one or two styles of pants cut to fit wider hips with smaller waists. That comment is not about you, clearly. I just hope they see what people are saying about them and take notes. :)
Don’t mind the negative comments 😊. I like seeing you choosing items from brands you like to style outfits your way. 👍
Excellent upgraded outfits. I've never been into Sezane, but you've made me want to check them out.
This was so much fun! I really enjoyed your insightful and good-humored reflections on these past outfits/your past self. It felt like grace to see you honor the through-lines of your style and expression as you allow yourself space to continue evolving.
I love this! You always look amazing, and I wouldn’t say you made mistakes, but these NEW looks are perfect for now. I can see ME reworking some old looks.
Since you are bringing on new items are you cleaning out some things?
Than you so much Kathy! I'm glad it helped inspire some new to you looks! YES! I will be letting go of my suede moto, red scotch and soda coat, a shorter sweater dress! Great question - thank you for being here:)
What fun showing how you are updating your style. Loved this!
Not to mention how hairstyle affects the overall look sometimes even more than the accessories do 😊
Great video. Its good to look back at past outfits and see how we can improve, as our style can change over time. Thank you
Hi,I started watching you during covid, and you truly became one of my favorite stylists because I could shop my closet and that of my loved ones😊.Please continue.
Thank you for the encouragement!❤
I always show up for anything Sezane!! Its right up my street!!
I look back at some of the styling I used to do and you ask your old self, "What was I thinking?" This was a great video. Your idea of recreating the looks from the past was brilliant.
A standard for me is, ‘Am I wearing the clothes or are the clothes wearing me?’ Good for you to reassess past looks and tweak outfits to be true to your self and feel easy in your clothing.
You always look amazing but I love how relatable this makes us to your audience - to critique and improve past outfits and share the knowledge!
Sezane is my favourite brand. Thank you for sharing your amazing styling of your Sezane pieces!
This was very fun! - Michelle
Loved all the outfit inspiration for Fall 🍁
Absolutely LOVE! I am similar to your shape and so obviously I’ve tagged all of the Sezane items. I love Sezane- that Terry Jacket looks amazing! I can’t wait to get it in 😍 keep up with your videos, you’re so inspirational!
❤❤❤ love your updating examples!
Very nice combos. Neverther less it was good to watch you Shopping your closet. With clorhes from Cézanne it does look more elegant and expensive a kund of quiet luxury in a modern way.. What has hapowned to your blouse. It is indeed a nice piece of clothe ans White does look good on you😊
Thank you!
I loved the idea of contrasting old and new ideas, we evolve and our needs change. I think as for various negative comments I’ve seen, I feel the adage of ‘if you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything at all’ could be really appropriate.
thank you for being here! ❤
More pretty and elegant today😉👋👋
Whaaaaat a fantastic video! Loved every bit of it - the revisiting and analyzing of old outfits and the breakdown of what's making the updates work. And pure Alyssa style all the way through! I'd love more of this, encore! :D
I like the idea of revisiting older looks and identifying how your style has evolved and lessons learned. Thanks! I understand the point of the video, but IMO head to toe outfits in a single brand look like the brand catalog and less like personal style.
Noted! Some of the items were from older collabs with Sezane because I continue to wear them, but I understand the sentiment !
@@AlyssaBeltempo no shade intended! Just thought the outfits with other pieces mixed in were more interesting. 😊
Well done! 👏👏👏 It was interesting to hear your own comments about your former outfit choices. The subtle changes you proposed now lead to much more elegant outfits! Your explanations made these choices so much more relatable. Fashion might be a journey for many of us to express ourselves and it is inspiring that, as this journey goes on, we can become better and better at it. Circumstances, authenticity, proportions - really good advice. I will bear it in mind more consciously when I create my outfits in the future. I love your channel and your sustainable approach to style and fashion. Thank you for sharing!
Hi, everyone! Just here with a reminder that if we are alive in these times, we are of necessity making compromises between our ideals and the realities of our daily existence. Maybe stop before posting a negative comment and ask yourself if you are truly meaning to be constructive--to build up--or if you are just in a moment of wanting to vent negativity--which tears all of us, including you, down. And if it's the second, try doubling down on kindness for yourself and everyone else and see if that feels better than criticizing.
Thank you, Alyssa, for modeling how to navigate the contradictions and nuances in life with elegance amd intention.
Love and peace to everyone.
Great video! So many helpful tips. I really appreciate your deconstruction of each outfit. And the choices you made then vs now. Really showcases style evolution and personal style maturation. Keep bringing it Alyssa!!!
I love this format and those wonderful outfits! ❤
I like Cézanne. Classic with a twist is my vibe. I wish I had photographed my older outfits, for perspective. Cheers! 🎉
You are brave to tackle old styling issues. I think most of my past missteps happened bc I was wearing passed down clothes a good bit. They were great looking but not really my look. The four of us (sisters and me, the sil) still swap, but now I just pass on items that aren’t me. I have learned SO much about style elements watching your channel.
Thank you this is so heartening to hear!❤
I’m just wondering what brands you would recommend that have petite sizes. Most conscious brands only have regular sizes. For the prize I want it to fit better, which requires petite size bag for me.
Always fascinating. Love a good sweater dress. Easy to feel warm and no ironing! Also the poet blouses ... I loved the furry scarf look though😂!!!❤❤❤
Great video and love Sezane too! So fun seeing past you and updated Alyssa too!😉
Sézane is fabulous. I have a few pieces and cherish each of them.
This was such a helpful video! Thank you. I also love how your style has evolved-elegant, but practical. Sexy and classy!
You look and dress better than ever, very chic and classy. I love the Sezane clothes you're wearing and congratulations on finding the taupe puzzle bag, it's really lovely and a great medium size, worth the investment if it makes you happy and is very "you". I too am buying better quality pieces from brands that I would have considered too pricey in the past, but I'm 58 and feel I deserve quality pieces, I buy less but better quality. Being petite, I invest in new and pre-loved jackets that suit my height and also hide my tummy, because although I'm very slim, I cannot get rid of my tummy and I have come to accept and be at peace with that, but the right cropped jacket and also a great scarf can be very good at minimising and disguising it.
I wish I could wear these styles, but as a larger woman, layering looks horrible on me. When I see someone adding a crew neck over a button up shirt with a blazer, followed by a coat, I’m like, I could not bend down if my life depended on it. 😂 It’s really beautiful though and still inspires me. ❤
I live in an eternal summer place and yes Im grateful, but Im kinda like to dress up and layers and here Im very limited. Im doing it anyway and using boots and stuff but have to let go a bit now at post menopause cause the flashes are not joke. Anyways, Im still plays with my clothes and enjoy your videos and thank for this idea to restyle our old looks. Love your channel to keep on trend and bc Im more conscious about my purchases. Thanks!!
I LOVE the Harper Dress, its super sexy or not, I would wear like you did, a few buttons undone.
So tired of Sezanne! 😢
😊
It has taken the place of Lilysilk 😂. Aggressive advertising does put me off. Sézane has an identifiable aesthetic. It is not for me, but may suit others perfectly
❤❤ great video Alyssa Thankyou
Loved the concept of looking back and learning from mistakes, and loved seeing all of the looks. But I’m not sure this heavy amount of sponsorship content in one video stays true to your slow fashion values. I imagine you are constantly trying to balance this when creating content and I appreciate that this is just one video.
@carolannburrell2637 I would not be surprised if Sézanne had made Alyssa (and others) an offer that was too good to pass up. The launch of a new season's lines is hugely important commercially, as you know. The company have committed to stock at a time of economic stresses right across Europe, the UK, the US, Canada and elsewhere. People are reducing their spending. So if a channel, such as Alyssa's, can give Sézanne more reach and throughput then it's absolutely worth being part of their Marketing Strategy. /Personally, I also don't mind the brand heavy content here. It gave us the opportunity to see these new pieces in context. As you say, it won't be every video 😊
I have the Harper dress in ecru and it’s great for winter with boots. I tried on those tall suede boots last season, unfortunately, they didn’t fit over my thighs (the top of my thighs are 18”) if anyone is wondering. They were beautiful though
I struggle with unlined coats as they tend to rub against your clothes and cause wear and also static! Do you find this and how do you get around it?
Spray anti-statuc spray on your coat.
Infortunately Sezane is not for tall people, sleeves and length don’t go up with size… so for me at 179cm slim is a hard NO for most of their merch.
I hear this! I haven’t bought any of their trousers, but their shirts are definitely not for long armed-gals!
I do have some investment or more expensive very good quality pieces, but I seem to spill and stain my clothing so I am a nervous wreck whenever I wear them.
Putr a dab of Dawn soap on greasy stains on clothes you can wash.
What I see most is that your look has „grown up“. Your past examples look like most of our wardrobe too… a few years younger and a little fewer curated 😉
Where is your old sweater from and how would you describe it? I'm looking for an oversized sweater but they are often a square or circular shape or the shoulder starts at my elbow! Just looking for something like what you have shape-wise
❤❤
Yv lived and grown👍
You are showing switching out items but not mentioning if you are getting rid of the other items? Or are you keeping them and styling them differently?
❤❤❤❤❤❤
Your videos always have such great nuggets of wisdom, thank you Alyssa! I really appreciate the tips you have given here.
What I love about Alyssas videos is that she constantly states, "You don't need the exact pieces to create your look." I love the new trousers in this video. I have a similar style but in a black/grey/white mixture material. So, I use Alyssa' inspiration to create my own version of a similar styled outfit. I never remember a time when Alyssa said you needed her exact pieces. This is why I love her channel so much 😊
Whatever the brand/shop, these looks are amazing Alyssa and we can all learn from your ideas to think about proportions, contexts and accessories.❤🫶🏼☕️
I liked all the looks for you except for the vest under the shorter jacket. I didn’t like the look but that’s just personal preference. The looks were quite dressy and work wear ish which made me wonder if they are really your style. Also I just can’t see a person wearing heals in Canadian winter very often, or in Europe for that matter with the cobblestones. That said, they are pretty looks but maybe I question the context still.
I also considered the vest/short jacket combo and thought I would pair the vest with a LONGER line, like with the camel coat used in other 're-new' outfits . . .
What it the tan bag or black ‘box’ like bags
When you wear jackets/vests and other layers, it's unrealistic to have them all unbuttoned at the front. I too live in a cold climate and the first thing you do is to button up when you go out - unless you want to get pneumonia. So I would appreciate it if you wore these pieces the way you would when you go out in real life, so we can see how well the layering works (or not). Thank you. The faux fur vest under the cropped jacket does not work, it looks too forced and the faux fur vest is way too long, a cropped one would look better.
I have once looked for second hand Sezanne clothes, well I have found such a display of worn out rags that I have felt that the fabrics could not be worth the price they ask. What do You think ?
They don’t carry plus sizes so can’t purchase from there but love their aesthetic 😢 sighhh
Same. I’m hoping one day!
You speak French with no accent !?
The Harper dress is gorgeous but unfortunately like a lot of sezane dresses and trousers they are too long for very petite people which is a shame.
ah interesting - andt hank you for watching! I have had to get their trousers hemmed in the past - I prefer more length to not enough so that there is room for adjustments.
I'm only 5'2 and I love the Harper Dress. I wear it with boots and it looks great. My sister is taller than me, and she never wears long dresses. She says that long dresses are for very tall women. I think we shouldn't limit ourselves and wear whatever we like and makes us feel good.
@@moonchild650 unfortunately im shorter than that. I’m only 153 cm (I guess around 5ft?). I’ve tried some of the things from sezane - the longer dresses for example but feels that it overwhelms my body and way too long which is a shame. The tops, shorts and shorter skirts fit fine though.
@@AlyssaBeltempo thanks for replying. Totally understand. I think it’s just me with regards to a lot of bottoms (I’m only 153cm). Love watching your styling videos for inspiration by the way. 🙂
@@AlyssaBeltempo I agree, I too prefer trousers that are *slightly* too long so they can be hemmed rather than trousers that are too short. There can however be an issue with trousers that are massively too long depending on the overall shape of the trousers so that, when hemming them, you loose the original silhouette (I'm thinking boocut as one example). I'm guessing that's an issue that @petitcoeur-q6r may be encountering. When hemming a pair of jeans, you may also not be able to recreate the same kind of stitching.
And it does get tiring and frustrating when you have to alter almost all the clothes you buy. It feels so good to be able to just put something on and it fits perfectly no matter your size, height or body shape 😊🌺
The thigh high boots on you are totally killer... but the messaging and sponsorship don't match. I get it, make the dollas, but the purpose of advertisements is to convince an audience to purchase goods.
@AD-wm9if Remember that Alyssa has an audience on every continent. Economic pressures are everywhere today. It makes sense that Sezane will be pulling every cost-effective, marketing lever right now. Creating a buzz around a new season is normal. But becomes almost critical at a time of shrinking, discretionary spending. Everywhere!
You’re just shopping and updating your wardrobe don’t get the point of the video it’s a haul not a shop what you have.
@bernadettemurphy8131 It's possible that Alyssa's concept for this video came from receiving (1) a new unlined brown coat (2) new wool-blend flared pants (3) new long slim-fit knit dress with split (4) new thigh high brown suede boots and (5) new blue/white stripe shirt. These new pieces made her examine her older versions, if she had them. And review how she used to wear those older pieces - in 2018, six years ago - to see whether they still had a place in her closet.
Genuinely not understanding the choice to include a sponsorship from a fast fashion brand on a slow fashion channel.
Sorry, normally love your video’s, but this just looked and sounded like an intelligent advertisement for Sezane like all the other shopping influencers at the moment… so stopped and dropped away halfway through..
I agree, the final outfits are totally unrelated to the original! Would the takeaway be - with different items i would create a better look? That’s what is keeping me purchasing 😅
If you have been here a while, you will see that she still has AND wears her pieces from previous sponsorships unlike a lot of other influencers who style the item once then never to be seen again
@@szfrj i agree, but that is not so clear in this video. And i have been here!
Not me, I could watch Sezane videos only, and still be happy. Whenever I wear a Sezane piece, people comment, it's truly unbelievable!
@@janelleespinosa6247 i also like Sezane’s pieces but the point is if i pick an old outfit and change the dress, the boots and the coat will i get a better updated one? For sure!
Just another amazing, interesting, and inspiring video. Thank you a lot for it! 🫶
Sezane practices and ethics are a bit questionable since they've been partially acquired....I'm a bit on the fence about this brand now.
Get them dollars Alyssa. 💚
My only criticism isn't about the sponsorship.
The pieces are lovely on you (except I think the trousers need to be up a size they strain in an unflattering way on you, and you work too hard on your body to be treated so unfair lol)
Also the last look needs the skin sandwich(ew , im so sorry for that lmfao )in my opinion. You lose the bodacious look without the bare leg, I felt it was more balanced without the tights.
It's fun how we're always changing , our style is constantly evolving. I know looking back at the pictures I've taken definitely shows a different person from even a few years ago!
Fun thoughtful video !
@@_inflection3209 omg love reading your comments as always - haha I was wondering about the last look too - will definitely try it without tights as well! have a great week xox
