Me too.59 yrs old.i still have my surfboards.just picked up a catchsurf bodyguard and 8ft single fin softy.surfed last week for an hour then switched to bodyboard.was having to much fun on the body board.
I'm a body surfer on Oahu (home break walls/graveyards) and I agree that bodysurfing is not as common, I'm usually the only body surfer out there. Even when I go makapuu there might only be one or two.
Sandys All Day! Well... back in my youth. Like a sand bottom playground, sliding into beautiful barrels. Still nice today. Love it! Remember these guys as guards back then... Sam Santos, Bruce Lee, Mark C.
This is so awesome!!! I am in Australia. I have been seriously back in the water, bodysurfing for the last 5-6 years now. When I was a kid I would ride anything that would catch a wave, mostly my bodyboard, but we did have three ‘Handsurfa’ handplanes (Aussie brand). I distinctly remember one day my dad telling me to push down on it to get speed and hydroplane, I remember I did a full push-up with my arms straight and absolutely foiling, and spraying water everywhere. I was flying too!! I couldn’t do that these days, as I weigh more, and would sink the handplane if I tried. I can plane off the handplane but I know my limits now. I was so light back then!! I started getting nostalgic and spoke with my father and family about the old days, and I was gifted a more modern Slyde Wedge Handboard/handplane (secondhand!!). That thing goes off!! So much fun. I also collected a bunch of awesome handplanes/handboards to have a great quiver, with some great fins too!! More recently though, in the last year or two I have focused on minimising surfcraft use to just find, or just surf mat riding, after I got a custom mat. Some days I just get to the beach and just want to keep it simple, so I bodysurf. Thank you for the share of this great footage. Mark C looks so young, and he has such a different voice!!! Great stuff🤙
Thanks for sharing your story. We love bodysurfing! Growing up at Sandy Beach on Oahu we surfed, bodyboarded and bodysurfed. The Shore break is always different and most days it was like a sand bottom playground- just gliding through the tubes. Have a good one!
I've practiced bodysurfing since I was a kid. I'm going to be 50 in November and still love it. I was in Oahu in 2020 and did some bodysurfing in Sandy Beach and Waimea. Back in my childhood days, I lived i block from the beach in Praia da Costa, Espirito Santo, Brazil and that was a great spot for nice waves too. Great video and recordings!!!
Grew up bodysurfing pre-hurricane Iwa Brennecke's on Kauai. Moved to Oahu. Could handle Panics, Makapu'u and North shore spots no problem. Sandy Beach waves took some getting used to.
I started out bodysurfing, then bodyboarding then surfing. But now I'm back to bodysurfing. I just love it

Thanks for the comment. Bodysurfing is such a pure way to ride waves and we are grateful that we can still do it on a regular basis. Aloha!
A fun filled workout
Exactly. Always feel better after a bodysurfing session 🤙
So good. Sandy Beach Baby!
The purest form of surfing and being one with the ocean
Agree. Bodysurfing is a beautiful thing.
