Great review of this bow. I hadn’t shot a bow since summer camp , 35 years ago. I just bought a Samick 45# one month ago and have been shooting it a lot. I have barely touched my pellet rifles since. I’m interested in this one because I’m tired of having to replace those plastic arrow rests on mine every couple hundred shots. I’m seriously considering upgrading to one of these. Thanks. 👍🇺🇸
Thank you so much for the kind words, This is an awesome bow with many benefits. Funny you would mention the plastic arrow rest, as a young kid hunting many many years ago, I had one of those rest break off during a hunt and I was done. Went back to camp, got out my camera and went back in the field. Thanks for taking the time to watch, comment and share with use your experience. If you do get one, feel free to keep us posted on how well you like it. Happy New Year my friend. dale

Thank you for the kind words sir. I truly appreciate it. Thank you, I love to shoot and the simplicity of it makes it that much more fun for me. Nothing super fancy, just a stick and string and having some fun outdoors. I love every opportunity I have when I am outdoors. Thank you again for taking the time to watch and comment and If I can ever do anything to help you if you decide to go Trad, this is the perfect time of year to make that decision, lots of time to practice prior to fall. Let me know I will do what I can to help sir. Thanks again and have a blessed weekend. Dale
I started with an old Grizzly. It was warped but shot fine. After that I got a 1965 52" Wing Red Wing. Now I am shooting Turkish but, believe it or not.....I am thinking of going to a Bear Cub....pulling about #40 at my draw. I just shoot it great and I am not Elk hunting this year so....no need to pull high poundage👍🇺🇸
Nothing in the world wrong with that. I have found a little less weight to be a little more accurate and in my mind first shot accuracy is always better considering you are more than likely only going to get one shot anyhow. Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment. Sorry for the delay. I am on a two week adventure trip and will be back soon with much more content. So thanks for sticking around. Dale.
Oh, and have you watched Robert Carter videos on u tube? He, unknowingly was hunting deer and pigs in the South (U.S.) for a long time and this guy is "lights out" a great hunter. The guy has killed hundreds of pigs and deer with bows pulling 35 to 48 lbs. He hunts with primitive equipment too.
I agree with you in everything with one exception. In my opinion bear bows are the best, especially the grizzly, super grizzly and super kodiak.... My first bow I got in 1973 at the age of 7was a red youth bow from bear. Since then I tried many bows in my life but with bear bows I feel familiar with. Greetings from Germany....
I so agree with that. They make a great bow. Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment and know we appreciate your input. Thank you and have a blessed week. Dale.
Have you ever tried a Herters? While we're on the topic of mass produced recurves. Although they don't make them anymore. I'll always love a tuned Herters bow over anything else. It could be that I grew up not too far away from Waseca MN, but in my opinion they are a lot more smooth than a bear bow. I have a bow rack full of old bear bows. Man I love a good bear bow, I'm not dissing them,. Gorgeous too . But IMO a herters bow is more smooth to draw and is a little more quiet when tuned. Could be that most herters recurves have a little more mass weight compared to a bear bow? Idk. Any bow that is tuned is a good bow if you ask me. Another sleeper is a Ben Pearson Rogue. Great shooting bow
@@mknight6556 I used to shoot traditional night at my local Archery shop and this really cool guy named Gary (whom that's all he did is shoot and hunt) shot this old dinged up Herter's. It was a super cool shape and pretty long as I remember...maybe 67" or more. I have looked at Herter's with the thought to buy, but all the ones I saw were too pricey for me. Thanks for the tip on that Ben Pearson Rogue
@@stevedriscoll2539 you bet! Yeah they make shorter ones and long ones but I think the average Herters bow is 63.5 inches or something like that. My uncle has quite a few of them. He picked one up from a rummage sale for like 20 bucks. Calls it the "honey comb bow" because it has a ton of holes in it from an old sight. Filled them with epoxy. My uncle took the biggest buck of his life with that bow! Herters perfection Magnum. #35 bow too. Passed a cedar arrow through both lungs of a p&y buck. Just barely made the book. He borrowed that bow back from my cousin and only took 1 practice shot before he hit the woods.. got that buck on 2nd week of opener in September in MN. A bunch of mung squirrel hunters had ran by him chasing squirrels lighting the woods up and that buck came walking behind them 10 minutes after. My cousin has that bow again. My uncle always tells me I should use that one for hunting because it's fast. Even though it's only 35 pounds. I got my first deer last year with a Bear Kodiak that was made in 1962. 51#s 60inches long. My arrow passed through and I still couldn't find my arrow.. could be stuck in a tree some forty yards away because I was crouched on the ground. Otherwise it probably would've been sticking up out of the ground if I was using a stand. Yesh you don't need much poundage for whitetails.. that's forsure. My uncle has a #47 international Match Hunter and wow just can't hear that bow. Even my dad's #38 Int Match Hunter. Some really quiet bows. You can take a #45 grizzly. Put felt on the limb tips and maybe some wool at the end of the string along with some string puffs and you'll still think it's way louder than any Herters. You just can't hear a tuned Herters. Hehe. But yeah never overlook a Big Ben either! The grips on Ben Pearson are rather large for my small hands but nothing sandpaper won't take of! Shape that grip just how you like it. Have a good one sir
I like Bear products. I own 2 Ausable... a 62" and 64".. the 62 is 45# the 64 is a 41#... then I purchased recently the Bear Takedown A riser with 40#. I also have a 38# Rich Welch longbow. A BlackWidow PSA Bubinga 40#... I've always wanted the Super Grizzly... but not yet. I do not hunt.. I'm too old and brittle .. but I really enjoy my bows shooting paper & foam. Good Video !

Any tips for shooting with glasses ? Due to a recent eye injury I now have to ware glasses and I'm really struggling with seeing the frame and also the progressive lens can get blurry if I tilt my head the way I used to shoot . Any tips would be appreciated .
Oh man, that is not good, I am sorry to hear this, I am glad they got your vision cleared up with the glasses through. I will see what I can find for an answer for you. @@HeartlandMakesAndOutdoors Good day sir I looked at your other videos of the Kodiak Bear and Grizzly Bear and it was great info I also love those Bear bows. I watched Jeff Cavanagh from Canada how he and Lucy shot the Montana and Kodiak bows. That's where I started loving the Bear bows. Can you maybe tell me what is the riser length of that great Kodiak and Grizzly Bear bows fade to fade.
Hello, I have a Super Grizzly @40# and have just ordered a 50# Super Grizzly. I have question about your string. Is that a nock on the string up by your eye? If so I presume you are using it to aid sighting. How so? Thanks for confirming my faith in the Super Grizzlies.
I have to first say, Good eye, It is just another tool to ensure I am at my normal Anchor especially when I am hunting. I am like a kid when I am hunting and get excited easy, so i do use it as an aid to make sure my anchor and form is on par. Yes sir, it is a great bow, Lots of folks get too hung up and Feet Per second and technology, It happened to me when I was younger I get it and the need for speed. Anymore, I can truly tell you this, you get to where you can harvest regularly with a stick bow, you are truly a hunter. I love it and the fast bows of years past, will never be a challenge like you get with a recurve. Thanks for watching and I hope you have a blessed week my friend. If I can help in anyway, feel free to reach out. Dale
Thank you for your reply. Getting excited is what it is all about. Do you align the nock with your arrow tip or more of a peripheral sort of deal where you see it but don't use it to sight. Just see it and know your anchor is set? I had to step up in weight to be legal for bear here in Ontario. I use the 40 to keep in shape over winter then switch to the 50 before hunting season. Stay well.
I do not own one, I shot one in a shop a few times and to me they are very similar and would have similar hunting results with either. I am happy with my bear and still use it regularly. I know this is not a good solid answer, I just can say a whole lot about the Kodiac since I my time with one in my hand was limited to a very short time. Keep us posted on what you decide and if I can help in any way, reach out. Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment and I hope you have a blessed weekend. Dale
I don't have a 59 Kodiak but I have '62 Kodiak. 51# . 60 inches long. Have never shot the Super grizzly. The Kodiak is like a grizzly on steroids. It has a nicer feeling grip but oh man the Kodiak whips em downrange. Supposedly the 62 Kodiaks were known to be slightly more speedy than the original 59. I think the older Kodiaks are a little overrated as for what they seem to fetch on ebay but wow they sure do launch the arrow.
I know this video was posted some time ago. BUT, I have a bear grizzly I bought online. I received it and the limbs have the slightest twist in it. Any advice how to fix the twist that won’t ruin the bow?
Man brother I am sorry to hear it may be twisted. I have heard folks say you could possibly hang a weight on them. I have never tried to straighten a twisted limb in a bow other than a solid built on from Osage. I am sorry I don’t have a good answer for you. If you get it fixed come back and let us know how you got it fixed my friend. I hope you have a blessed weekend. Dale.
@@HeartlandMakesAndOutdoors so I used REALLY hot water. Not boiling water but really hot. I turned on the water and let it run until it was as hot as can be. I plugged up the tub and set the side of the bow I was working on in the water. I did one side at a time. Then I started twisting the limb into the opposite direction. It definitely did the job. I even let it set overnight to cool to see if it would start to twist back. It didn’t. I’m out shooting to bow today. Thank you for your fast response. Now if someone ask you and you feel confident enough to pass on the information. Please do, because it surely worked for me. Take care and have a great weekend.
I am very comfortable with the 45-50 pound draw weight and I actually shoot better with 45, especially in hunting scenarios where you may have to hold longer than you would in target scenarios. I hope this helps but quick answer is yes, I am happy with the bow and it is proven in the field to work for me as well with my hunting style. Thank you for taking the time to watch and comment . If i can help in any way let me know and I would be happy to answer and or make another video for specific questions. Have a blessed weekend. Dale
Congarts on your new bow my friend, your gonna love it. With this bow, mine is 45 pound, so I am running GoldTip Traditional series carbon with 50 grain brass inserts up from with 145 grain tips. I hope this helps you get close to right for your set up. Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment and I hope you have a blessed week. Dale
No sir, not at all, I am shooing at 45 pounds. I have been shooting since I was a kid and I shoot regularly.. Most of the people who are having shoulder pains, are probably pulling a bow a little too heavy and or not pulling correctly, if you use your back muscles to pull, there should really be no stress in your shoulders. It is hard to demonstrate with out taking a shirt off and having someone watch you,. Proper alignment when drawing as well as using your back muscles should help with the shoulder pain. How heavy is your bow and let's start there and maybe we can work through this together even if I do a video for you on propely setting up for a shot sequence. Thank you for taking the time to watch and comment and I hope you have a blessed week. God Bless Dale
Both are the same length I think at 58 inches. The Super Grizzly uses better woods for its bows and since 2011 could take Fast Flight/Dynaflight D-97, comes with a Flemish Twist D--97. Older bows 1973--1976 can only take discontinued Dynaflight D--77 on down. Dynaflight D--77 only got Discontinued in 1997 when D-97 came out for recurve stuff. The Compounds were using other strings and stuff starting sometime in the late 1980's to 1990's that has only recently for some Carbon ILF type bow limbs made in both target and hunting styles can take some of the even faster strings.
Casey, Thanks for answering you are 100% correct, sorry for the delay my friend, I have been out for a little bit, I plan to be back full time soon. Thank you for watching and commenting. dale
I needed a smaller bow with smaller brace height due to my size and found through Krammer Ammons on TH-cam a bow from OEELINE Airobow, the single piece 54 inch recurve in left hand from Amazon that is 45 pounds Has no real model (only a true Black Hunter they sell does) I draw to 35/36 pounds totally legal for Deer stuff in South Dakota; Sorry it is made in China but the funny part is this bow is based off a Grizzly/Super Grizzly design squished proportionally to 54 inches with ability to take a Fast Flight string due to the type of limb tips the bow has. Otherwise, I would have gotten a Bear Grizzly or mort then likely a Supper Grizzly to use for hunting. I love my Bow as it is really smooth to draw but, the only flaw is the type of satin glass used to protect the bow is a little slick. The OEELINE Airowbow brand even has a 58 inch bow that is closer to a Bear Super grizzly but is a right hand only so I could not use the bow but others like my brother and Dad could.
Kramer is the bomb, when he was still a newer TH-cam, I would always send folks his way. I made him a Wooden Box to carry put his Tillering String in. I know he enjoyed it, he did a video about it. Thanks again for the kind words and Yes, I highly reccomend Kramer. He is a master at his craft. Dale
I think it's sad that China is flooding the U.S. with all these cheap bows...hear me out...I just bought one. And, I bought a "Kiowa" 55#@28 back in the late 1990's. It was identical to the Samick Sage. Here's the problem: some of these cheapies are actually good shooting bows. I can't even imagine how this flooding has hurt U.S. custom bowmakers. Not only are customs better, but there are intangibles involved here in my opinion. The Indians had a word for this "medicine". Like, a bow might have good "medicine" if it was a special piece of wood from a sacred place. This flooding of Chinese, Taiwanese, and Korean made products has heavily damaged the U.S. economy (the Chinese can build a bow for a fraction of what it costs here, but I doubt many people are making a good living building these bows). I had a chance years ago to buy a J.K. Chastain "Wapiti" recurve (used, 53#@28) from Bob's Archery in Denver and I passed because I thought I couldn't afford $350...stupid, stupid. That was a great bow. I bought a "RD Bones" off Kramer Ammons because I wanted a Custom bow and I wanted to support him. It is a beautiful bow and a high performance reflex deflex (short) longbow. And, I just missed out on a beautiful Norm Johnson "Blacktail" take down recurve on Ebay for only $450.00. I wish we never started this uneven trading with China and I wish we could support our U.S. business folks.
Ha, you crack me up, I know you are a shooter from way back. You know there is always math involved. Joe, I am telling you this, You need to give it a shot and make the switch, it is so much more rewarding. You will love it. The tennis ball, hahaha, I honestly can't say for sure, I had been out there shooting for a while and depending on what take that actually was, I shoot a lot of tennis balls, It helps me to have a small target to focus on and I shoot them regularly. 29.5 inch on the arrow shaft from bottom of nock to cut. I am shooting regular inserts, and 145 grain field points as well as broad heads for hunting. If my memory hasn't failed me and with out doing the math again, that is roughly a 15% FOC on the arrows. I do not use the extreme FOC that a lot of folks are currently switching too. I did mess around some this spring with a 50 grain brass insert and it is still not considered a Extreme FOC for todays standards and I am shooting well with it, I have been shooting that since realistically winter spring and that will be what I use this fall for hunting and sometime soon on some hogs if I can find a decent place to hog hunt. Hopefully , I can get some hog hunting videos up soon, It has been so hot here in Texas, a lot of the hogs simply aren't moving during daylight hours though. Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment and If I can help in any other way let me know and I can make a video response if need be as well. Thanks again, Dale

Just purchased the bear Kodiak hunter. Haven't shot it yet. But excited
Your gonna love it. Keep me posted as you get it tuned in. Be patient and have fun with it my friend.
Dale.
Good review Dale! Something about the simplicity of a recurve. You shoot it well 👍
Thank you for the kind words sir.
Dale.
Thx 👍@@HeartlandMakesAndOutdoors
How did you like that Red Wing bow? I have seen some of those over the years and they look like great bows.
Thank you sir for all the information great job. Nice shot.
God Bless my friend
Thank you sir, for taking the time to watch and comment, it is truly appreciated. thank you and I hope you have a blessed weekend my friend.
Dale
I totally agree with you Matthias.
Thank you so so much for taking the time to watch and comment sir. It means a lot to us and our little channel. I have had a couple of Bear Bows in my life and I loved the others as well. I have passed on a couple to others who wanted to start out shooting trad bows and they are still in use. Like you say, Bear bows are great. I am envious of your collection sir. That is awesome. Thank you again for taking the time to watch and comment and I hope you have a blessed week.

Hi Dale,
Really good review on your Bear Super Grizzly . I have been thinking of switching over to Traditional Archery equipment for quite some time now just haven’t pulled the trigger yet. Glad to see your rig has held up so well as I am also pretty hard on my equipment. Like you say, tools are meant to be used. I don’t abuse my equipment but I do use it hard. Thanks for sharing and I hope you have a great weekend. Take care .

Thank you so so much for the kind words my friend. I truly appreciate you,. I defiantly know what its like to be considering making the switch. It was something I wanted to do for several years prior to committing. I will follow up with this, this is the perfect time of the year to commit if a guy is going to,. You have a lot of time to hone your skills prior to fall starting now. I know its super cold where you are, but if you can find a 10 yard shot inside, (i shot in my wood shop) when its this cold, its a great place to work on form and keep on getting better. Let me know If I can ever help in anyway and or make a video that could potentially help others. You know me, I love to help and share what i know with others. Thanks again kind sir for the kind words and I hope you and your family have a blessed weekend.

5 years ago I Had purchased one first time i strung it the bottom limb failed at the meeting point of the riser sent it back they sent me another one and again had a limb fail top one that time where the limb meets the riser when i strung the bow sent that one back as well asked for my money back and sent out for a cheap black hunter supprisingly that bow is still shooting.
Oh wow, that sounds like a sting of bad luck (No pun Intended.) I have never heard of this happening much less twice. Thanks for taking the time to share this with us and it sounds like the one the sent you in the end is built like it should have been these things should last forever and be something we can pass down to our kids or grand kids,. Thanks again for taking the time to watch and comment, I hope you have a blessed weekend.

yea spot on(got a 45# too), just a very good shooter
Thank you so very much for the kind words. Good luck this season and have a blessed weekend.
Dale.
That beginning edit was awesome! I was like, wait, he has a twin brother? LOL! I have the same bow, 45#, I originally was shooting 150gr up front like you but my total arrow weight was 550gr. They were 31" long carbon arrows :)
hahha, Thank you, I don't think too many folks have even mentioned it, hahah,. I am glad you enjoyed it. This is a great little bow, I love it. The weight has been flawless for me as well. I appreciate you taking the time to watch and Comment and I hope you have a blessed week sir. Sorry for the small delay in my reply, I dont always get my notifications like I should probably a glitch in our spotty Internet. Thanks again my friend and have a blessed week

I can't believe you compared a bow to a hammer lol nice vid
Ha, thank you , I guess I am just trying to say it is a tool and often time its not the tool its the user that is the most effective. Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment and I hope you have a blessed week. Sorry for the delay I was on a road trip and somehow missed this one. Thanks again and keep us posted on your outings.
Dale
I don't have a bow but this was interesting. Thanks for the video.
Thank you for taking the time to watch and comment my friend. It means the world to me you wanted to watch especially knowing your are not into archery. It is one of my passions and has been my whole life. A lot of why I love wood working is the option to make my own equipment etc. If that makes any sense at all. Thanks again my friend and I hope you have a blessed weekend.

@@HeartlandMakesAndOutdoors Well, I feel my interest in archery is going to increase (or at least it might. My daughter has taken an interest in watching archery on TH-cam and wants me to let her go to something next Summer to learn. We will see.
@@MarriedManWoodworking IM sure you know both my daughters are in their mid 20's now, they both still shoot. That excites me my friend, I am excited for both of you. I haven't made any announcements on here, I started a video series couple of years ago, getting started with trad bows, I will be expanding on it as the summer goes on, some of my next videos. It is a lot of fun and if I can help win any way let me know. PS my wife shoots as well. She likes shooting her 3D zombie target, she just giggles each time she shoots it. Makes me laugh. We have a lot of fun doing this hobby - sport if you will. Have a blessed weekend my friend.

I wear readers and have not had to use them with my shooting, so I will shoot some with the readers on and see if I can come up with a good answer to help you out. Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment and I hope you have a blessed week.

Great job buddy on the review big like 👍
thank you sir, thank you for taking the time to watch and comment, it is truly appreciated. I hope you have a blessed weekend

Good day sir can you tell me what is the riser length fadeout to fade out of this beautifully super grizzly bear bow
Right at 20 inches my friend, I hope this helps.
Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment and I Hope you have a blessed week.
Dale
@@HeartlandMakesAndOutdoors Thank you buddy the same to you
@@HeartlandMakesAndOutdoors Good day sir I looked at your other videos of the Kodiak Bear and Grizzly Bear and it was great info I also love those Bear bows. I watched Jeff Cavanagh from Canada how he and Lucy shot the Montana and Kodiak bows. That's where I started loving the Bear bows. Can you maybe tell me what is the riser length of that great Kodiak and Grizzly Bear bows fade to fade.
Hello,
I have a Super Grizzly @40# and have just ordered a 50# Super Grizzly.
Stay well.
Do you have or have you ever shot the kodiak 59? I’m really stuck for choice between the super grilled and the kodiak
If you had it to do again would you get the same draw weight?
I am very comfortable with the 45-50 pound draw weight and I actually shoot better with 45, especially in hunting scenarios where you may have to hold longer than you would in target scenarios. I hope this helps but quick answer is yes, I am happy with the bow and it is proven in the field to work for me as well with my hunting style. Thank you for taking the time to watch and comment . If i can help in any way let me know and I would be happy to answer and or make another video for specific questions. Have a blessed weekend.
Dale
What arrows are you using I just received a super grizzly as a gift.
Dale
Does your shoulder bother you after shooting a bunch
God Bless
Dale
is the normal Grizzly longer or the Super Grizzly in length?

Good job ty 👍👍
Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment. I hope you have a blessed week my friend.

I didn’t know there was gonna be math involved😂 How many takes til u hit that tennis ball?
Ha, you crack me up, I know you are a shooter from way back. You know there is always math involved. Joe, I am telling you this, You need to give it a shot and make the switch, it is so much more rewarding. You will love it. The tennis ball, hahaha, I honestly can't say for sure, I had been out there shooting for a while and depending on what take that actually was, I shoot a lot of tennis balls, It helps me to have a small target to focus on and I shoot them regularly. Thanks again for taking the time to watch and comment and I hope you have a blessed week.

What arrow setup is that? Nock to point*
Thanks again,
Dale
193 fps is really fast
I was actually surprised to see that as a speed as well. Especially with a typical 15% FOC hunting arrow. Thank you for taking the time to watch and comment and I hope you have a blessed week sir.
