I've been car camping since the early 70's when we were stationed in the UK. We hauled a small trailer of camping gear throughout Europe. However, as an empty nester car camping turned into overland camping and I'm enjoying the experience of building my Jeep SUV into a well organized and comfortable rolling "motel room" but much better prepared with creature comforts...especially when it involves meals and preparation. Hopefully in the very near future I will be able to do this full time as I slowly downsize and work out solutions of permanent storage for items I cannot give up. Clay, you touched on a very important point beginning with your jetboil and stove. Experience is a great teacher.
Very informative. Been camping fop years and I learned much. Investing in good gear matters (buy once, cry once). Your insight about going slowly to design the galley system that works best, is worthwhile.
I know you're sponsored by various companies, but, you're honest in your insights. You're own only agenda is to be helpful and to share your knowledge and experience. I just want you to know it's appreciated.
The Weber q grill is one of the best and longest lasting grills I've ever owned! My first one lasted me 12 years, I have since upgraded from the Q100 to the Q2200. One of the biggest things that amazed me was I never once changed the battery in the electronic igniter. Lol good video clay cant wait to see what's up next.
Hate to be THAT guy, but could you talk about showers (wipes, solar showers, etc) and toilet systems and how you resolve privacy issues? Please address this with Rachelle for those of us who camp with our wives and daughters. Cheers.
Strange that the most basic of human functions is rarely addressed on anyone’s TH-cam videos. Somewhat of a humorous, but serious subject. These are the best videos on ‘over landing’ I’ve seen. I also like Ronny Dahl from Australia. Lots of wise & generous free advice born of experience from both parties.
You guys are awesome!!! You're show on amazon prime is the best show I've seen in a long long time! Your show makes my fiance and I want to pack our 4runner full of camping gear and just go and not look back. We plan on doing a cross country road trip sometime, once we get the opportunity. Thank you for such great down to earth content! 👍👍
Your videos are great and extremely helpful. Your audio is terrible on video after video So hard to hear. But you are my favorite chanel I just wish I could hear your videos
For those looking at getting the O-Meals option for packed food. You don't need to heat water before hand. It has a heating element inside of it like an MRE. Just add water to the bag and it should heat your food in about 15 minutes.
I love what y'all do, and you produce some excellent videos! I've noticed a lot of your videos are very quiet though. Any chance of adjusting the master volume up? I can barely hear most of them on my laptop when the volume is cranked. Meanwhile I have no issues on videos from other accounts.
Really cool to see the way you guys keep stuff organized. What do you do for sourcing and purifying water in the backcountry or sketchy towns? Also, can you do XO logoed titanium sporks for the fans??
Are you guys doing an episode on first aid? I'm curious to see what you guys put emphasis on based on your experience. As a paramedic in New Orleans, La I find a lot of people put emphasis on things that I wouldn't think as much about based on their experiences and environment.
Just got finished watching all your episodes, great show congrats. If you head out of country this year. Anyway, you can put subtitles, for the foreign language? would be straight awesome. Either way, I can't wait to see what coming.
Have you ever used a Traeger pellet stove? They have a portable one called the ranger. It’s awesome! After seeing this video, I am inspired to create a kitchen galley for the Traeger!
Okay then if you haven’t used a Traeger, let’s say I send you my portable model the “ranger” which isn’t just a smoker, but can grill, bake, and griddle too. Let’s say your minds are blown. You decide after that to customize the kitchen galley for a Traeger version with the one I sent you and I get a good deal on your first production model. How’s that sound?
You should put out an XO recipe book. I am sure you have a ton of camping/expedition do's, and possibly as important, don'ts you could include. For example, I have noticed you eat a lot of soft tortilla meals. Is that purely personal preferrence, or are space/efficiency concerns driving that choice?
It's for sure on the list! We use tortillas A LOT because: They don't get squished like a loaf of bread, they are great wraps for breakfast, lunch, and/or dinner and require no dishes, and they don't mold too easily and pack great!
I kinda found that a food warmer is a really good options for short trips. You just have to perpare you food at home or buy some at the restaurants. You just put the box or bag in the food warmer few hours before the meal. It does not take big space at all.
How often do you deal with the frequent visitation of the big/furry random kind...having your galley/food/etc directly below your RTT/sleeping area as opposed to hanging in some tree a couple hundred yards away? Seems like an invitation for them to come and explore while you are catching some zzzz’s.... Great setup, but that’s the first thing that came to mind.....
That is no joke about you say about the TITANIUM SPORK. You are def not a over lander without a titanium spork. How true is that ! Thank you for sharing your video.
Just a quick heads up, the anamorphic bars you’re using don’t quite cover your frame. It looks like you’ve got about a pixel of bleed around the edges. If you’re still using FCPX they have the faux-anamorphic build in which can save this from happening in the future without dropping a .png on the clip.
What are the bowls/plates set you use? I like those gray bowls because they stack nicely. We've struggled to find something durable but also easy to store.
I was wondering if this was filmed with a crew or if Clay filmed it by himself. Also, did he go off the top of his head or was there scripting involved? Enjoying the series.
Dang, thats pretty cool! I feel like, with how thoughtfully you approach setting things up, you should do a collaboration video with Andrew White (4XOverland). I feel like you have a lot in common with how you approach building vehicles. :)
may be a stupid question, but can i put a roof top tent on top of a commercial truck cap? or is the cap not sturdy enough to hold it place? been watching your videos and want to build a overland truck to travel Canada
I go through sporks, I need to invest in a titanium, but at Walmart they sell these cheap ones in their camping area, Uco™ is the brand. They're cheap and seem to be holding up well and if a kid loses one it isn't that big of a deal, since there are Walmarts everywhere.
Had to laugh at your table comment, our RV came with a recess in the hold floor for the table. So everything is on top of it :( I've added a folding kitchen table
Okay, Houston we have a problem. Clay, YOU NEED TO FIGURE OUT WHY YOUR AUDIO IS ALWAYS LOW. Very frustrating. Don’t go by what you hear in the headphones. The VUs need to be at least tapping the red.
Good video except for the complete lies when it came to the Stanley cook set. That kit is garbage and wouldn't hold up to the abuses of your crew on any extended trip. If you trash sporks like that...no way that flimsy thing makes it. I understand you have sponsors pay the Bill's here, but don't sell your soul to Hawk a kit that doesn't meet snuff.
I got a jetboil when I was in the army in 2011 to make coffee still use it today and love it

You are an excellent trainer. I learnt a lot from the video.
Wow. Well thought out systems. Mind blown.
Thank you!
Perfect timing as I am just outfitting my Jeep for a long trip.
Awesome!
Thanks so much for this vod! it has been, a great help.
Beach in 14:15 is Himalaya Sonora, in Mexico. Awesome beach. Great Video btw!
Awesome really enjoyed the time spent on explaining the benefits of the spork... :)
Hi bud, I have binge watched 3 of you guys trips on prime, you guys are AWESOME bud. Shalom bro
Great video! Thanks for sharing your first backpacking stove, Duel Fuel was pretty cool.
The Weber q grill is one of the best and longest lasting grills I've ever owned! My first one lasted me 12 years, I have since upgraded from the Q100 to the Q2200. Good to know! We sure have loved it!
There are many accessories for it as well ! Love the flat top insert.
Hate to be THAT guy, but could you talk about showers (wipes, solar showers, etc) and toilet systems and how you resolve privacy issues? Please address this with Rachelle for those of us who camp with our wives and daughters. Cheers.
Joolca Hottap or Camp Chef Triton and a shower tent.
@@MichaelCook1981 and a Porta Potty, I’ve heard that Thetford is the best in the toilet business.

Great advice on the tables, love the fold down tables on the doors

I'm inspired to start saving more money so I can have a galley system!
They are great! A jetboil works great too.
I need an amazing galley built for a Jeep gladiator! Those are awesome for sure.
oh wow! one of six bags ever made!!!!
Literally used my jetboil last weekend to make coffee at a dirt bike race. Never getting rid of it
Really informative video and thanks for sharing 👍👍👍
Thanks you for shearing your experience system cooking to us ,🍽️
Nice video. regards from Costa Rica.
Hey Clay, was your lapel mic off? I had to turn up the television volume quite a bit and it sounded a bit distant
Sorry about that! Had mic issues that day.
Seems like audio on all your vids is low. Love the vids, great job
I love what y'all do, and you produce some excellent videos! I've noticed a lot of your videos are very quiet though. Any chance of adjusting the master volume up? I can barely hear most of them on my laptop when the volume is cranked. Meanwhile I have no issues on videos from other accounts.
Same on my desktop!
Really cool to see the way you guys keep stuff organized. What do you do for sourcing and purifying water in the backcountry or sketchy towns? Also, can you do XO logoed titanium sporks for the fans??
Love that idea :) We've used Lifestraw or UV water filters for large quantities.
FANTASTIC!! thanks
Nice video, keep them coming ✌
Thank you!
This is a great video. I really like the gradual upgrade of each kitchen. Also the sound is terrible goes in and out.
Oh Hey there with Clay just isn't the same as Oh hey there with Jeff. But we still love you Clay. LOL. Tell Jeff he's missed.
thank great detail video was good watching as great idea

Still hoping you're not another damn robot.

We have not but sounds awesome!

Nice to say fast easy kitchen, but find to find into truck with family and dog. Didi you try yes its only Jet boil
This guy is serious about his Ti spork 😂 I use the Gerber complEAT, it's a nice little set.
😂😂 We will check that one out!
Luv me a ti spork. Clay
+1 for the complEAT. The only utensil set to dethrone my SP Ti Spork!
I kinda found that a food warmer is a really good options for short trips. You just have to perpare you food at home or buy some at the restaurants. You just put the box or bag in the food warmer few hours before the meal. It does not take big space at all.
What was the size of the Red Oxx kitchen bag?

I really need that pull-out kitchen for my Excursion! Where is the PCOR kitchen for sale? I don't see it on their website.

ITS TITANIUM !?!?!?!! those canned sausages are getting WRECKED none shall escape your wrath

Uhhh, have to show those kitchen knives with the kydex sheaths. Man, that was a flex, but necessary.
Dang, thats pretty cool!

What is all packed in the Red Oxx Kitchen duffel?
Great systems and thank you for sharing. Do you carry bear-proof canisters or just keep everything in the truck or X1?
What’s your camping weight in the taco? Fully packed ready to hit the road.
Any plans to do a trip across Australia?
I bought 4 stainless steel spoons from walmart for 92 cents each and made my own sporks.
Hello, is the PCOR stove slide out avail anywhere?
I did a quick google and found their website.
But, i wasn't able to find any info on the slide.
What fridge slide and stove it that?
Had to laugh at your table comment, our RV came with a recess in the hold floor for the table. So everything is on top of it :(
I've added a folding kitchen table
Wat kind of knife's were in the patriot camper drawer?
Those were from LT Wright. They are amazing www.ltwrightknives.com/
Those Omeals are the way to go lol
Thanks Clay. No mention of the Magnum cook pot set. Do you still use them?
We do not. They are too heavy. But very nice. Stanley has struck the perfect balance we think with the overlander in mind.
Anybody know of a bag comparable to the red ox one shown for organizing a kitchen in a tote?
Hi
Which countries are you exploring next in Africa
Weber for the win!
What stove is that @ 11:30?
What stand is used for the weber?
Tried the spork years ago, tried
who makes the spare tire system?
great video. Love seeing all the different options. please crank up that audio! can barely hear ya
The patriot is a dream of mine, well thought out trailer, even for conventional camping, maybe if I ever win lotto,,, 8^)
keep your camp kitchen organized with a goose gear 2-drawer for only $2000! 😂😂
It’s like a modern chuck wagon ...
FYI... for some reason your audio is low on this one. Had to crank it all up to really hear. ;)
Copy we will look into it.
I've been accused of alot of things, but never.... having a titanium spork.
What size is the NL cooler?
40L
all great stuff EXCEPT the SPORK never ever will I use a spork I will never cry when I eat a steak or soup fork and spoon always!
You lost my budget 8:00 in... ha ha
Googling titanium sporks
LOL. They are pretty great.
Great information , well done but terrible audio
Sorry about that! Had some mic issues that day.
Anna sound kuravanna
Nice videos, but please do something about your audio. I've had to crank the volume to ridiculous levels on this whole series.
Okay, Houston we have a problem. Clay, YOU NEED TO FIGURE OUT WHY YOUR AUDIO IS ALWAYS LOW. Very frustrating. Don’t go by what you hear in the headphones. The VUs need to be at least tapping the red.
Smart
Knives in the galley drawer on the x1.....pssshhhh......please.....deeets
System!
I really hate sporks

I would rather spend my money on something else than European stoves and titanium sporks .
