Dragon type has always been my favorite pokemon type. I think the strongest Dragons that are not legendaries are the ones that are pseudo legendary. Specifically Salamence, Garchomp, Dragapult and Braxcailbur.
One thing that annoys me about the Dragon type is that it’s completely redundant offensively. Sure but the only type that resist Dragon is Steel and before Fairy nothing was immune to it. It’s offensive strength comes from the fact that you can hit almost everything unresisted while having a decent number of resistances yourself.

Dragapult is def one of the better ones just the problem is...too many weaknesses and kinda frail. Dragonite is still strong in Gen 9 and Tera boosts him but not the best. Roaring Moon is pretty sick it deserves the #2 spot just don't get hit by a Fairy type move without Terastilizing it into a flying type. #1 Is Miraidon but yeah no legendaries...lol.
If Gen X would do something completly off the hook by having us literally just pick a random pokemon as a starter instead of having the same 3 starter variation thst would be truly amazing

I disagree with Mega Garchomp being inferior because of 10 base points less in speed, it makes up for that in extra bulk, therefore the extra bulk helps in a situation where it is unable to outspeed a certain mon, to attack 1st, that it used to be able to outspeed and attack 1st, regardless it no longer can attack 1st in this situation, it is more likely to be able to eat the hit and still be standing when it is, it's turn and wirh the extra offense it can more likely land a Ko with 1 hit, especially if it uses a move like or similar to Avalanche that doubles when it attacks 2nd to make use of its less speed ans extra bulk and offense
And Megachomp still isn't even considered slow, 92 base speed is still very good, can be patched wirh a scale shot or dragon dance or rock polish or if in double battles a tailwind setting ally
In the two generations in which Garchomp and its mega existed at the same time, it's undeniable that base Garchomp saw more usage. It can be explained by the speed diff, but also by the fact that base Garchomps was way more versatile. Items like leftovers, rocky helmet, Z crystals (in gen 7) or even focus sash goes a long way on that Pokémon. Plus, even thought a speed difference of 10 doesn't seem like a big deal, 100 base speed was (and probably still is even with the recent gens speed creep) a very important threshold. Finally, mega-Garchomp can't boost it's speed like you suggested as it doesn't learn rock polish, let alone dragon dance. Scale would have been great on it, but sadly this move didn't exist in gen 6-7 (gen 8 DLC 1 move IIRC).
Dracovish's mostly strong as is cuz it's a Water-type getting STAB from fishcious rend not cuz it's a Dragon tho 2nd STAB & defensive benefits from it helps too.

I love using Mega Garchomp as part of a trick room team in doubles natdex and it can put in work when I get rid of the ice types

My issue with polt is that it can’t do much against anything even remotely bulky.
