Doctors React To Shocking Sex Stories

  • Sex Sent Me To The ER is a TLC show where actors re-enact actual medical emergencies that occurred during sex that resulted in an ER visit. It's cringey and incredible. Because the medical issues are so sex-focused, I decided to bring in an expert, Dr. Renal Malik, and Urologist and TH-camr who specializes in sexual health! While the content of this video may be highly sexual and mature in nature, I think it's valuable information and we shouldn't shy away from talking about our sexual health, because it's just as important as everything else. In particular we talk about testicular torsion, penis pearling, getting your genitals stuck in a vacuum, the risk of nitropaste, ovulation, pop rocks in your vagina, calling the fire department to remove a metal ring, popsicle's burning your groin from being too cold, chastity belts, and an unstoppable 3-hour orgasm.

Cause it already comes along with a lot of shame and seeing doctors making fun at these stuff would not be helpful. As a doctor you want people to be comfortable enough to see a doctor when smth like that happens. Not like doing self surgical with a hammer on your genitals instead. I am glad that they stayed more serious for this video.

      Okay, you people here need to realize that every single person in that show is a paid actor, nothing actually happened, and everyone is on in it.
      There is literally no possibility of actually shaming, and the patients slash actors basically admit to things that have never happened.
      On the other hand, they are somewhat making fun of people that actually have had these kinds of accidents, by having people pretend these situations, which is basically coming from the fantasy of the authors of the show. Particularly the unnecessary details. Like what relevance did it have why the guy was wearing the chastity belt for example.

    I'm so happy that PGAD is being discussed! It was always so embarrassing for me growing up so I never talked about it with my doctors. When I did, they had no idea what was wrong until they learned about PGAD. It was such a relief to finally know what was going on after years of tests and potential diagnoses that never quite fit. Hopefully this will help people get diagnosed or bring awareness :)

    • @kimothy996
      @kimothy996 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@metzli5797 not really. There is still no cure, and there’s still a severe lack of knowledge around PGAD especially within the medical community. A few people find relief, most haven’t found their own cure at this time. There are around 25+ known causes of PGAD, including anti depressants like SSRIs (I know they talked about most losing sexual desire which happens. Very few do result in causing PGAD. Oftentimes it can result from coming off of SSRIs, especially when rushed off of these meds).
      If anyone reading this thinks they have PGAD or some other sexual dysfunctions, pls see a specialist. You have no reason to feel embarrassed for treating these kinds of conditions. Cost is a barrier, however so few docs are properly educate in sexual dysfunctions that often times you have to pay completely out of pocket for proper medical advice and treatment.

    • @kellyhoward6941
      @kellyhoward6941 ปีที่แล้ว +16

      @@metzli5797 It's a really complicated issue; there can be many causes. IMO (which is not an uninformed opinion), much of the defeated feeling comes from the fact that it's almost impossible to find people (including doctors!) who don't make fun of it & say things like "I wish I had that, sounds great, what are you complaining about!!" It not only can totally screw up every aspect of your life, it can be incredibly painful. Some causes (like cysts or tumors on certain parts of the spine) can be taken care of. It can be almost impossible to determine the cause, tho, which makes it really iffy about finding treatment.

If you're newlyweds I will say that the adult fun time is normal for like 3 or 4 times a week, but that fizzles out to like 2 or 3 times a week, to once a week, to about once a month. And doctors don't always see a lot of blood. While being a resident or in med school, you likely have to perform surgeries and blood draws, many other medical careers don't deal with blood on a day to day basis.
      I totally understand though. While I'm not very scared of blood, social communication stressed me out. I also have a phobia of medical things that have to do with my mouth, as I had a traumatic operation (that I don't believe was done in the way it should have) and now am scared of going to see the dentist, orthodontist, etc. (And joy, I'm getting my wisdom teeth out this summer...)

    This made me remember, I got circumcised at 27 because of phimosis (foreskin so tight the glans can't get out), It was a fairly routine operation, that went well.
    However, for two or four night - given that during sleep spontaneous erections happen - the stitches were so tight that I was in wailing pain.
    Luckily for me, the stitches didn't rupture, however doctors shouldn't dismiss patient's concerns, my post-surgery attending told me that "nobody had ever complained" about post-surgical pain, and that made the experience so much worse.
    Please when you have concerns, and somehow doctors are dismissive, do insist, don't assume that they necessarily know of every possible scenario. In my case it was because my girth was on the upper five percentiles, nobody asked before the surgery, nobody inquired about my question after that.

    Being asexual (I don’t experience sexual attraction towards anyone) I know many male ace’s that I’ve interacted with online who’ve really struggled because of the stereotype surrounding men always being in the mood so thank you for shedding some light on that briefly on their behalf!
    (Also, sex isn’t everything but ace’s can and still do enjoy it even if it doesn’t mean anything to us in the way it does to people who feel sexual attraction, so I wish some people would be more understanding and cut ace’s who enjoy sex a little slack when it comes to the being in the mood department).

      Do you believe asexuality is a spectrum? Like someone is only attracted to someone if there's a romantic interest? I personally believe asexual means absolutely no sexual attraction ever of any kind. It'd kinda be like calling yourself an atheist but you believe some religions are true while others aren't.

    • @edithgruber2125
      @edithgruber2125 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@Criner05 people often confuse sexual attraction with sexual desire / libido. Asexuality describes the absence of attraction to anyone but these people can still experience sexual desire, just not focused on any person. Masturbation is an option or having sex with a partner despite not feeling the same attraction as your partner but you still enjoy the physical side of it.
      Then there is also a spectrum of asexuality that describes different ways people may still feel attraction to others in some circumstances. They are usually grouped under the umbrella of greysexuality, e.g. some people only experience sexual attraction after establishing a close emotional bond with someone. That's called demisexual. Then there are also people who experience attraction but only as long as it isn't reciprocated. As soon as they get a reaction from the other person, their feelings disappear. That's called lithosexual. In recent years, the understanding of human sexuality has increased significantly and there are many new categories on the greysexual spectrum that describe people's experiences better. You can find more online, if you're interested. AVEN is a good place where to start.

    My bf and I tried a new position with sex and it ended up popping my ribs very badly. Had to go see a doctor and I was blunt and honest with them. " Bf and I tried something new in bed, new position, here's the situation of what happened and that is why I am here now." Said that but with more information since the doctor was a surgeon and needed to know EXACTLY what happened to make a proper diagnosis.
    Needless to say, I needed a 2nd opinion. Went to a walk in clinic and they sent me for xrays and went through a breathing test to make sure the lung wasn't punctured or restricted in anyway. Im happy to say a Doctor at a walk in clinic saved my life at 16 y.o, and I'm glad one was able to help me again at 25 y.o. Im currently 26 now, recently smashed my thumb in my vehicle door... I appreciate the normality of your discussion. This was how I approached my kids when they had questions. Also, I would tell them I would always tell them the truth and if I didn’t know the answer I would find out.

    I'm sure someone else has already said this, but the wake isn't a funeral! It's very common where I live in Northern Ireland, where family and friends gather in the home of the deceased to comfort the remaining family members before the funeral. Sometimes the body is on display too, depending on the cause of death. Hope this helps!

    I've been on SSRIs my whole life. Very low sex drive. Enough that I was worried. Changed to a SNRI and NDRI combo for other reasons and Jesus Christ did that change. 😳 It got to the point where I was ALWAYS "in the mood" but after a couple months that calmed down. Sometimes it crops back up but it's not nearly as bad. This combo is the best thing that ever happened to me so I'm sticking with it.

    Thanks so much for making videos! You inspired me to work myself up to medical school! I’m only in junior high, so I do have a long way before me but your videos really help make me optimistic!

    1:25 I can't help but feel like Doctor Mike is having to suppress his human side in this section, just the whole "I'm a man and...MAN....that's gotta hurt!" moment. 😆

    Something I've experienced that I had never heard about before that was I would sometimes get these massive migraines during sex and the longer it continued, the worse it kept getting until I had to stop because it felt like if I didn't I would blow a blood vessel in my head. It isn't pleasant and I don't know how common it is, but it is something to watch out for.

    Daumn what a treat. My 2 favorite doctors on the TH-cams! This was awesome to watch and its fun when you guys humanize anything sexually related. I know why people still have such a stigma around it all, but it is funny to me to think that people are this scared and embarrassed etc
