ALWAYS.

@@bumfuzzlebro I think the issue here is you don't like her style of interviewing people. She wasn't just trying to gather a whole bunch of facts to report on. She had some questions she wanted answered for herself, along with helping others out who may be starting their own channels. Gotta remember, shes not catering to the world, just her audience. Personal questions and showing a weakness like that is how you get a loyal fan-base. A lot of stuff from the real world that's pulled into TH-cam has to change form for it to be applied due to how easily people can interact with you and how easily it can effect your channel.
Phone fatigue is definitely a thing. I remember when people would wait overnight for the latest iPhone. Now it's not worth money to upgrade. Kind of like when computers completely changed at a rapid pace. Now it's much slower.
Yeah, I've got it bad too. Had an Android/Google-related blog from 2009 till last year and I lost interest in most tech things whilst that was going. Partially cause of other things too, but mostly cause tech companies are just too thirsty for attention and sell you shit you don't need, just by putting a bigger number on things that aren't important. Like 99% of phone specs. People are catching up to that slowly. They don't understand they're selling to actual people. I do love stuff like new display tech and folding phones tho, but that's mostly cause I have huge hands and love smooth UI's. But what do I know, I still rock a Pixel 2 XL, and will till it dies. I hate doing anything on a phone, mostly cause I'm on a PC way more.
There is certainly phone fatigue. I used to upgrade my phones yearly, than it dropped to every two years, and now im sticking with my old iPhone X and i dunno when i upgrade. It works fine, it has enough performance for me, and the battery life is still good. Why should i upgrade? Not passionate about it anymore. Funny enough though, i was tired of building computers for the last 10 years or so. I got my custom computers build by some store, but only every 3 to 4 years. Now i think about building my own rig for the first time in a decade again. It will be fun.

Loved this podcast when it came out, so great to revisit! What Linus built with LTT is my biggest inspiration to run with YT "as a job", and you ask such good questions. TY!
Look idk who you are, but I do know Linus. You really are one hell of an interviewer. You seem so passionate about talking, and didn’t ever take it over to keep him from sharing his insight. You have my subscription, and I hope you do incredibly well in the future.
At first I couldn’t remember why this felt so familiar from a long time ago. However now I remember listening to this on the creative exchange? I’m glad this is finally on video as well!
A long long time ago... I can still remember... how NCIX used to make me smile. Then I had my credit number stolen after an order to NCIX... twice. Probably a coincidence.
It's funny hearing Linus talk about new hires needing to wait a year to get in front of the camera. And here is Madison coming in and doing her thing before her probation is over.
I totally understand Linus' talk about his momentary excellence in certain activities. I'm sure many of us have encountered those moments. It's nice to know Linus is just like any of us and tries his best to make things work to the fullest of his extent. Inspiring.
Wow you did a really good job going back and forth with him. I dont think ive ever seen Linus talk so naturally and so long in an interview before. Im glad you got him talking and so open. Always fun to hear new stories about the past from Linus.
Hearing Linus' story is really inspiring. This interview has also shown me how Linus is much more than a tech-head. His principles in running his company and even on issues discussed in this video is just spot on for me.
I watch Linus because he is passionate, enthusiastic, honest, and very knowledgeable...and that carries over into the rest of his staff. I will watch other channels on many other topics that have knowledge with enthusiasm to varying degrees, but Linus is at this time one of the best... he is also not crazy in any weird ways, or cocky. He is mild mannered and very real and beleivable human being. not putting on a show. So much of this world is fake, not just scripted, even if Linus is reading a script, he is not fake.
Your interviews are so much better than most I’ve seen in the past. You just flow so naturally, and dynamically venture into topics. It’s a pleasure to watch these.
I had a similar experience. I went into college for 2 years for electrical engineering and I was into home audio. I was in a Physics class whee I had to figure out the dimensions of an ice cube over a given time and a given temperature. It took the front, back and the front of a second sheet of paper to work out the math, and said nope, then took 2 Graphic Design classes before I quit.
A lot of people really don’t understand what computer science is going into it, and to be fair, it’s kind of hard to explain. CS is not about writing apps or building websites, it’s about understanding the conceptual, mathematical, and theoretical building blocks that make programming languages do what they do, and allow us to solve problems with them. Once you understand all of that, building an app is easy 😉
Linus is very admirable for being a true entrepreneur. Had an idea, took a risk, worked his ass off (still does) and made it successful. Maybe I should move to Canada, seems like the American Dream is more alive there than in the US these days...
He worked his ass off, it was not given to him lmao. He quite clearly saw the direction NCIX was going, and lo and behold they go bankrupt a year or two later.
Of course he still sounds salty. He loved ncix. He mentioned it in the interview. He loved the company for a long time and to end up leaving on somewhat bad terms because of a boss that's too shortsighted left a bad taste in his mouth. Even though that spat with that ceo was the thing that led linus to the career he has now it's still was upsetting to him to see a company he loved for so long go down the path to its own grave and he was powerless to do anything about it. Im pretty sure that if ncix didnt flop, linus would be segueing to ncix as their sponsors.
This Interview/Podcast is so good! How both of them moderate it and have like a 50/50 splitt of talking time. How Sara asks questions that trigger a nice story and actual conversation of a topic. The same with linus kind of interviewing her of her path, feelings and expectations! Greatly done!
VERY MUCH appreciate this longer, uninterrupted (without ads), organic feeling interview where the conversation between host and guest has the freedom to be explored in a variety of directions without being narrowly scripted. Nicely done. This was my first time on your channel and I'm glad I came across it. Also, as a long time fan of LMG, I enjoyed hearing this. Thank you!
Listening to Sara talk about her college experience at 18:33 really throws into sharp relief how broken the education system is. I mean obviously _she_ had the good fortune and presence of mind to ultimately land on her feet, but throughout her describing what she wanted from education and what she was being given, all I could think of was _this is a person crying out for a trade school, who probably never even realized that's what she needs_ . And if by some miracle she got over a lifetime of indoctrination with bullshit like 'trades are for people who can't get into college' and realized what she really needed, everyone in her life would have probably tried to talk her out of it.
For Linus to be a TH-cam Content Creation magnet, you Know he has to do well with the accessory parts of life. Those a private, but it would be nice to just talk to Linus man-to-man, brother to brother. Like my High-school buddies
Gavin Remme - Yeah, but most of her weekly podcasts are audio-only. Also this podcast was uploaded in March 4, 2019 but the video got uploaded 2 weeks ago, prob bc it takes a long time to edit such a long video
I love the Jibo shirt. A lot of people at the company were understandably pissed with Linus because of his critical review. But Linus was simply keepin’ it real. He kept that up, and that is the key to his success today, no question about it.
This is why iMessage and iPhotos etc are great. Sure there are a lot of alternatives but having a simple eco system that the whole family who aren’t tech savvy at all can use is why I love it. I can create and share photo albums in iPhoto with a simple add and there’s very little chance that say my mother can mess that up, or I have to spend time on a IT phone call trying to tell her how to download and where to put all these photos.. for a tech head like Linus of course he probably prefers his other options but I think his blind spot is not seeing its advantages for all the no tech people out there. I love my tech but It’s a nightmare having to be an IT guy for your extended family just to share a photo album.
I just LOVE how Linus views the whole "iCloud" thing she brought up =) Great content, great questions btw! Thx for this // I totally am used to these..."thumbnails". If it's necessary or better to use them, ffs - then do it. It has no impact on my viewing experience in any other way.

Establishing fun in productions Also said, establishing the atmosphere for the audience. Similar to theater. 🎭 Yeah, duh! It’s inviting people into an experience. You two do great work on this. @25:00 When they started talking about disclosure of sponsors I suddenly remembered that term 'native content' wonder why I stored that away in my brain.
We say no to pay to win well all phones has bluetooth and wifi, so why dont other brands have their own version of airdrop and other features that apple is doing? Airdrop is crushing the standard way of sharing trough bluetooth or wifi. Much better experience = the amazing innovation of it since no one else is competing with it
@@rotojo2 'crushing' is a laughable over exaggeration, it's a useful feature if you and the person you are sending stuff too has the same phone brand, are within Bluetooth range and you have a WiFi connection (which isn't that good a WiFi connection, as that's the only reason it'd be helpful) and need something sent in seconds rather than in a few more seconds than that, as it's a marginal difference. And Samsung has Quick Share, and others exist too. To call it a competition is silly, non of these services have much effort put into them, and if any is better than the other, it's not going to be really noticeable or something too care about. However Quick Share is newer so that will be better, which is quite ironic from what you've said.
We say no to pay to win I use it to send to myself between my devices and its allot quicker and faster and better experience than sending files on android devices and not to mention the obstacle way of windows to share things.. I guess you havent used airdrop for your own devices? And you are wrong about not being fast... i can transfer hundreds of photos + few videos in just a minute +/- and by 1 click and i dont have to get annoyed by the OS structure that make my life difficult either lol What others than quick share? And quick share must be very new, havent heard of even. If its going to be better it will need to use wifi 6 with better speeds if so. :) Newer is not always better either!

I know that when I panic break i'm not thinking about how much pressure to apply to which brakes to slow down quickest. And that even though I know better I go through back brakes more often than the front.
I don't use the cruise control much tho, except when riding inter-state in very light traffic just to give my hand a break now and then.

I love how Linus still wears that shirt! he is half the reason that company went down lol
They were hoping he would give a better review for the product they developed but he didn't becaause he is honest (why we love him) and after the kickstarter it went south
HumorousGiant, you’re right, it is. At about 44 seconds in it shows the date when it was recorded.
@@groomsdaniel he does still wear the shirt though, so the point stands
It's not his job to make a product good though. Look good, yes, sort of, but it's not half his fault that they fucked up.
honest? hahahahahahaha... yeah sure...if you don't write him a cheque! Take Intel for example.. always carefully phrasing the "negatives" about them. always. Linus is honest rarely because he would be out of business the next day. last time he was honest was with the new Ryzen CPU and APUs recently because the fans love AMD and he wants to please them and because his inner geek got exposed with the AMD products! but when it comes to be honest with Intel....nooooooo never... just some nice words to look like he is hard on them but ALWAYS find a positive thing to say about a shity product of them. @@moe2329 say more. What about her interviewing skills do you not like?
@@bumfuzzlebro I think the issue here is you don't like her style of interviewing people. She wasn't just trying to gather a whole bunch of facts to report on. She had some questions she wanted answered for herself, along with helping others out who may be starting their own channels. Gotta remember, shes not catering to the world, just her audience. Personal questions and showing a weakness like that is how you get a loyal fan-base. A lot of stuff from the real world that's pulled into TH-cam has to change form for it to be applied due to how easily people can interact with you and how easily it can effect your channel.

@@bamarshmallow1 if you need a script of questions (her phone next to her) to interview Linus you've got problems
Moore's Law, that's all what you need to know
There is certainly phone fatigue.
Yep, im still using a Note 4 and don't see myself upgrading anytime soon.

This was such an engaging listen.
I love how passionate Linus is
It's funny hearing Linus talk about new hires needing to wait a year to get in front of the camera. And here is Madison coming in and doing her thing before her probation is over.
Yes, but madison show up back then once and turns to be a fit in.
I love linus and this interview lets him shine and show what I have witness him grow over the start of lmg
THANK YOU for the full thing. I've never watched him being interviewed and this is an hour of it.

Wow you did a really good job going back and forth with him. I dont think ive ever seen Linus talk so naturally and so long in an interview before. Im glad you got him talking and so open. Always fun to hear new stories about the past from Linus.
1:01:45 There's only 2 microprocessor companies out there. We know who you are referring to.
its intel isn't it?
Hearing Linus' story is really inspiring. This interview has also shown me how Linus is much more than a tech-head. His principles in running his company and even on issues discussed in this video is just spot on for me.
The interviewer does a great job here, fantastic interview!
Linus is such a talker lol. It's so funny watching this after the MKBHD interview. So different lol
Your interviews are so much better than most I’ve seen in the past. You just flow so naturally, and dynamically venture into topics. It’s a pleasure to watch these.
This was one of the best interviews I've seen. Well done.

First time viewer here. What a beautiful, soothing speaking voice to listen to.
Sara's isn't bad either ;)
A lot of people really don’t understand what computer science is going into it, and to be fair, it’s kind of hard to explain. CS is not about writing apps or building websites, it’s about understanding the conceptual, mathematical, and theoretical building blocks that make programming languages do what they do, and allow us to solve problems with them. Once you understand all of that, building an app is easy 😉
"But we can get fin.."

Linus is very admirable for being a true entrepreneur. Had an idea, took a risk, worked his ass off (still does) and made it successful. Maybe I should move to Canada, seems like the American Dream is more alive there than in the US these days...

I like how 6 years later, Linus still sounds salty about the conversation that gave him his career.
He worked his ass off, it was not given to him lmao. He quite clearly saw the direction NCIX was going, and lo and behold they go bankrupt a year or two later.
except it wasn't given to him? He worked for it. He saw that NCIX was a sinking ship and sure enough he was right, they went under.
cook a sock
44:12 his face hearing her go to wechat as an example
VERY MUCH appreciate this longer, uninterrupted (without ads), organic feeling interview where the conversation between host and guest has the freedom to be explored in a variety of directions without being narrowly scripted. Nicely done. This was my first time on your channel and I'm glad I came across it. Also, as a long time fan of LMG, I enjoyed hearing this. Thank you!
44:40 That devilish smile of Linus :-D
Listening to Sara talk about her college experience at 18:33 really throws into sharp relief how broken the education system is. I mean obviously _she_ had the good fortune and presence of mind to ultimately land on her feet, but throughout her describing what she wanted from education and what she was being given, all I could think of was _this is a person crying out for a trade school, who probably never even realized that's what she needs_ . And if by some miracle she got over a lifetime of indoctrination with bullshit like 'trades are for people who can't get into college' and realized what she really needed, everyone in her life would have probably tried to talk her out of it.

Steve Wu:I should have listened to him....

Then that new member is acclimated just as slowly with the audience.

Airdrop is literally just Bluetooth and WiFi, both things amazingly pre installed before iPhone and android ever existed
Yet no one else is using this like Apple. As far as i know.
@@rotojo2 I'd say no one sells it like apple does, as some sort of cool amazing innovation, when all other phones just do it as standard.
And you are wrong about not being fast... i can transfer hundreds of photos + few videos in just a minute +/- and by 1 click and i dont have to get annoyed by the OS structure that make my life difficult either lol
What others than quick share? And quick share must be very new, havent heard of even. If its going to be better it will need to use wifi 6 with better speeds if so. :)
Newer is not always better either!
