i think the misconception everyone has with barca's finances is that barca doesn't have the money to sign anyone. they do. the biggest problem with barca is la liga's ffp, and barca is not the only club struggling with it, although they are the most extreme case. out of the 20 la liga teams, 19 teams are forced to sell or limit their squad with real Madrid being the only club allowed to essentially freely sign and register their players. of course there is no direct favoritism towards real Madrid from la liga but the truth of the matter is that the new regulated imposed on la liga clubs heavily restricted every club that wasn't real madrid. regarding barca though, barca's income drastically declined during covid and they had it the worst compared to any other club in la liga. as a result of covid and barca's sudden drop in revenue, la liga decided to impose sanctions and limitations towards their clubs to prevent a meltdown like barca from happening again, while every other league in Europe actually loosened ffp as a way of understanding the heavy impact covid had on every club. so not only was barca now in turmoil due to covid, they also had the league multiplying that effect even further. everyone knows about the levers barca pulled to sign players a few years ago. those levers weren't actually mainly used to sign players. they were used to register players for la liga. the main impact those levers had was to artificially increase barca's income for ffp (think city, Chelsea, newcastle, etc but nowhere near as bad because they're using their own assets) so that barca's wage cap can return to a more normal figure.
finally a none brain dead person. barca had highest profit of any club in the world last year. by a lot. 10x more than the second team. 190m profit. barca has no issues with money. we have issues with ffp due to over spending on salaries breaking the rules to many times and now to get back to the right place needed to lower our wages significantly and bring in money at same time. we are so close to 1:1 and then we can sign and pay for who ever we want.

Meanwhile Dani Olmo only had 4 goals and 5 assists in the BUNDESLIGA 😭.
