Remember back when a letter was sent to the mansion, letting them know in advance the cult was attacking, but instead Ram went out and ambushed Subaru and Co because they received a blank letter?
That's the moment Rem's name got eaten, she wrote that letter but when her name got eaten, the contents of said letter also got erased, Gluttony got her before Subaru even started fighting Petelgeuse back in season 1.
And this is gonna weight in for Subaru heavily for this season, it's gonna hurt :D

I fully agree with you about Subaru, unlike most MC’s he is just a normal guy and even his “power” is something he doesn’t really have a choice over since it’s guaranteed to happen. To a normal person it’s like reliving a nightmare so it’s amazing how he’s held together.
i love subaru as a protagonist becuase of his faults, and his outbursts make sence even his worst moment you could see where his mindset came from as he knew all these people through multiple timelines that just didnt happen for them so his relashionship with them meant alot more to him than them. but what i love is thinking about the perspective of the other characters where it seems subaru has these absolutly wild mood swings out of no where going from pathetic self loathing one day to all of a sudden the confidant hero who took down the white whale the next

Yeah the directors cut which was added a few months before the release of season 2 was to add to the hype of season 2.
Season 1 ended off right after Subaru saved Emilia and had that speech with her about sharing her happiness if it is overflowing (Hence the credit scene and reuse of the first ED song) But then came the directors cut and everyone went into panic again. I think we still are after season 3
30:00 I saw it confirmed somewhere that folks in Rem's condition don't need sustenance or to expel waste. Like that other big anime with a ceratin blond knight who took care of a black swordsman, that sounds like a helluva easier comatose person to care for, compared to IRL folks.

Okay, two things. The whale was created by the witch of gluttony. Now, the witch is not a sin archbishop, they are THE witch of that sin, while the others are sorta inheritors of that sin in a way. Lye Batenkaitos is not the WITCH of gluttony, just kinda the guy representing her sin

I'm assuming this was recorded a while back and someone has already explained but just in case
The Rem cliffhanger wasn't really there in the initial release. It was only after s2 was confirmed and we got the directors cut of s1 or whatever it's called that the season actually ended on a cliffhanger. That's not to say that some eagle eyed viewers didn't pick up on the hints but it wasn't stated out right unless you knew the LN. Initially it just cut to credits after Subaru and Emilia had the talk in the field after the explosion.
