Woolie's setup has very little poise, armor, or hyperarmor, whereas his opponent is swimming in all of the above. But you can absolutely interrupt this dude, I know because I just beat him after switching to a bigger weapon.
From the trailers I thought I was gonna be using the Martial Arts weapon, and then I found the Beast Claws and wiped the floor with Malenia using them. Haven't taken them off since.
Just to clarify this because this misinformation is spreading like wildfire: there is no weird scaling or anything in the dlc. If you were to somehow beat mogh at a low level and enter the dlc, you would get 1 shot by everything. The new level-up system just straight up makes you stronger but is not a replacement for the regular levels, which still matter. The idea that the content is scaled to the player comes from journalists that misinterpreted something michael zaky said.
I was wondering about this, and how the scaling works with NG+ cycles and such. Cool to have a definite answer. The tree fragments feel very impactful over time. Took a bit, but mid way ish through i no longer need to heal after a single hit or trade lol.

His vigor is only 50 for example, most people at level 120-140 have 60 vigor and are therefor slightly tankier than pat. Armor, talisman etc. all factors in as well.

The advantage of this kind of status-based melee build is that you can around all his attacks, stick to the enemy, and keep the flurry of hits and status procs coming. It's also one of the hardest ways to play. Hitting him once and respacing is the exact opposite of what this build is good at! I understand being afraid of the enemy though, especially coming back after two years

the white button mushrooms are portobellos in a young state and when you cook them for ages and add sea salt removing the water, you kinda wanna let some bits burn because the flavour profile is so intense, add oil or water whichever you were cooking with, man they taste good but like you gotta cook them amber color and the faun from the pan, when I ate meat, steaks took in the mushroom, salt and pepper, medium rare and a side of egg yolk for dipping, Spinach cooked in a fruity olive.
Yeah, this is why a lot of people recommend a quick warmup session before leaping head-first into the DLC. All the little tricks a player picks up during the base game are lost after a hiatus.
What i learnt with my build (double greatsword) against the blackgaol knight was.... Can interrupt his attacks when hes not two handing his sword. And when he does his crossbow just run to the side/towards him and start hitting.
As is tradition, woolie spends the majority of the first episode banging his head against a boss he isn't remotely ready to fight yet Ahhh, good to be back

Nah it's a lot bigger. But instead of it being a flat plane the dlc has a lot of verticality.
Ive only got to uncover the last map segment for the north west. Id say the dlc is is the size of Limgrave and Liurnia.
