At this price point it would be hard to choose this over Luxman. I prefer Yamaha's approach with the C-5000 M-5000 stack but it would be interesting to compare them side by side.
So... to summarize: The Link 10 and the SACD 10 both have the same DAC. And the Link 10 and the Model 10 both have the same Pre-Amp. What a redundancy! And if I pair the Link 10 with 4 Model 10s, as the guy suggests, then I have paid for 5(!) Pre-Amps of which only one is used. Great!
I would like to see the difference between measurements on the PM10 vs Model 10 amp. I would also like a listening test to see if any obvious differences between Hypex Ncore modules vs Purifi modules. I suspect they may measure a bit differently but no audible sound difference to the human ear. After all they both use HDAM3
No desire for room correction here. These are beautiful pieces. Like to hear more about the DAC architecture in the two sources (assuming the SACD isn’t a transport at that price point). It’s interesting they anyone on here would complain about the price. In the 2CH world (of today anyway) this is mid-fi. But undoubtably well engineered mid-fi. Can’t wait to hear it.
I love Marantz. I have been loyal since my first piece over 15 years ago. It stinks that I will never hear these now that Masimo owns them and raised all their prices.
Hey! I'm from Romania, love you videos, i learn alot from your videos. I don't have much: Marantz SR-7015, Monitor Audio Silver 300. That's all I can afford, at the moment.
My PM11S3 (Class A/B) sounded better than my PM10 (Class D), so I sold the newer one and kept the older one until today. Even in the beginning had two of them for Bi-Amping, but that didn’t work with phono and the Marantz PM11S3 phono stage is incredible perfect for my Benz Wood SL MC and was also sounding better than the PM10 one… I would bet, that the new Model 10 will even further follow the path away from sounding beautiful to sounding modern (less emotional, more neutral, too accurate and with too much treble). What in this case would be great for my pocket 🎉😅
Someone with access to many of these avrs needs to do some serious blind testing and report back. How much better does the $15,000 unit sound than the $2000?
I'm sure it performs really well, but you are really paying for luxury. My NAD M33 retail is a 1/3rd of the Marantz M10. It uses Purifi modules with similar performance. It has a built-in streamer. It has DIRAC Live Room Correction.
Superlative products at a premium price. However, one aspect not covered would be its warranty and long term serviceability. Hate to spend crazy money on a product only for it to fail and there’s no support.
@@mattgiunt, Stereo will never die because more millions will only have room for 2 speakers than those that have room for 13-20 speaker home theaters ..
What are you even talking about? Marantz had been churning out the same stuff at all the same price levels as all the other usual suspects since forever. I had bought an entry level network streamer / DAC and it has been the absolute worst build quality of all the components I ever owned - and I have ca 40 right now from the past 3 decades, so that says something. I would never pay top dollars for such a crap manufacturer.
@@Baerchenization- Why are you so confused and angry? He’s obviously referring to their high end components (like the Model 10 Series) not the mass produced entry level streamer/dac that you purchased.
I will not buy a redundant preamplifier with built in Heos. There are better and lighter source solutions I guess. Model 10 amp is very interesting though.
it is a class D amplifier, but from marantz it is nothing but the "best", I hear in every video 15,000 € in Europe, but the Technics SU-R1000 is also a class D, little good can be said about it, so I think it is more about the brand that makes the amplifier and not about the device, like with Apple, it is a pity that one brand is praised, and a "supermarket brand" as many think about Technics does not get a job, fortunately for DJs they make great record players, if not the best, audiophiles who can spend a lot of money will never be able to admit to something cheap. However, there is no mention of the class D at Marantz on the website, but they do mention it with their analog devices, "pure analog", says enough. so Genes, get a SU-R1000 at home and test it please
Gene I’m a huge fan but some of the comments from Phil toward the end bordered on snake oil in my opinion. This falls into the category of audio jewelry. It has its place and some people will love it, but I’d like to see them purchase it because it’s jewelry and not because they think they need it to get the best performance. I bet some buckeye 9040 Purifi monoblocks would be 1/6th the cost and outperform that amp.
Nobody considering the Marantz piece is cross shopping it with Buckeye. LOL. The Marantz actually has a very high quality preamp and phone preamp and is a luxury piece of gear. The Buckeye is a fine monoblock amp since it has Purifi, but it's shoehorned into a Radio Shack project box.
@@Audioholics since when does the box improve the sound? As you know, we pay at last 2000 for the jewelry aspect. So in that sense, soundwise, it is indeed overpriced. Having sais that, i would buy one if i was in search for new gear
@@stijnvanderlooy5311 I never said the box improved the sound. That said, anytime you can build a box that reduces resonances and does a better job of isolation is a good thing. Different product, and a much different buyer.
I dunno, I’m a sucker for McIntosh Amps for this money. I bet these sound more accurate (and better) tho! All I need is an integrated Amp with HDMI-not sure if the link 10 can power speakers tho. I’ll find out!
Maybe a good receiver but the guy did a horrible review he honestly did not understand what he was even trying to show us nevertheless looks like a good unit😊
I've had Marantz M700 monoblocks and loved them with big NHT floorstanding speakers. I remember them as being powerful. But the M1 specs don't appear to be powerful at all. They rated at 100 wpc at 8 ohms, but only 125 wpc at 4 ohms! And recommendations are for 16 to 8 ohm speakers. These amps are apparently a bad choice for speakers that demand high current, like Magnepans. That's unfortunate, because I loved my M700 amps from 20 years ago.
The price is very clearly, absurd. There is a market for it, of course. If you have more money than you know what to do with, go for it. @davewin1792 Class D now actually sound great. However, they should be cheaper to build compared to Cass A or AB designs. Price is determined by the market you want to reach.
