I was a teenager in the heart of my playing baseball when Wright came up. I was a Phillies fan where I found Chase Utley in 2004 (Jim Thome was my original childhood hero) and my best friend, a Mets fan, found Wright. We both grew up living an hour from the Phillies’ AAA Scranton Wilkes-Barre Red Barons. We went to a game in 2004 against Norfolk. It was only a few weeks, maybe a month before Wright got called up and there was a lot of excitement around him. Wright hit an opposite field homer to right center field. Not sure if anyone is familiar with the old Lackawanna County Stadium, but the field was enormous and had something like a 14’ outfield wall from pole to pole. 330 down the lines, 380 in the gaps and 408 to center. That homer Wright hit to right center was a friggen bomb. My friend and I would get to see two really great players on two really competitive teams during those 2004-2009 seasons. While I was a Phils fan, I always liked Wright. Great leader, great voice of the team, great player. By the way, it’s truly a shame that MLB doesn’t offer archived regular season games or highlights from the pre iPhone era (2003-2008).
@brandon-ww3mu I know and I like Wright. The Wright years just represent missed potential in my memory. The Mets should have gotten 1 if not 2-3 rings in those years. I'm still bitter I guess.
#4 and #3 captions need to be fixed, but I WILL ALWAYS BE HERE FOR MY CAPTAIN
Yeah bc if you notice #4 the date is wrong bc if it was in 2008 you would be able to see citi field in the background
Nostalgic
@@jballday3668 yeah plus it wasn't a walk off home run

Wonderful player. A treasure to watch for years.
Seems like yesterday that him & jose reyes were the Mets building blocks
I forgot how much vocal range Gary Cohen used to have! Hasn't hit that high-pitched "outta here!" in a while!
He's getting old 🥲 not ready for the day when Gary Cohen will have to retire from the SNY booth, love him dearly
Love to captain Wright
Time flies wow
4 and 3’s captions are swapped 😂😂😂
🔥🔥🔥🔥
Straight drop lol
Dont care wont anyone says the crowd noise at shea is way better than the crowd noise at citi
13k more seats....
Gotta say, that boy WAS clutch.
It's weird to hear a neutral Howie Rose call a Met go ahead 9th inning homer.
not to be dumb but how is a walkoff single only .39 win probability added
Lmao robin Ventura more clutch even though impossible to say a bad word about david wright the human being
Because i guess in that situation the team wins 61% of the time
David is my pookie
David Wright would have a solid shot at the hall, had Citi had these dimensions. He would've hit atleast 3 more 30 homer years
only the mets would build a stadium to work against their best hitter. the opposite of the house that ruth built. idiots
I love Bonifacio from the marlins in the first one
8th
Captain America Captain Queens DDubs
What a lame top ten. Retire Wilmer’s number before this geeks!
Remember that time the Cap David Wright led us to a championship..... Neither do I. 😒
🤡
One player can't do it all. David was an excellent player. He tried...
