Thanks for posting this. I've been trying to decide if these simple metal pieces are worth $200 but I am unable to justify that cost, even though I like the idea of strapping the tops on the luggage rack.
Josh Mora , yes LOL. I used to work in Marine aviation. The plane I worked with the most and my favorite was the F4 Phantom. When reading on F4 boards “F” gets substituted phor “PH”.
Further, I just realized something and have a question. Seems doing strapping the tops to the rack like this would make gassing-up a PITA. What's your experience with that?
Yes it does, I leave my tops off at home in the shop. I only use this car for short drives to the beach or for cruise nights. I check the weather before going out. I like were the filler is but it is an issue when the tops are on the luggage rack.
WOW, thank you for this observation. I am considering whether to get a luggage rack on my 73 or not, and I had not thought about gassing up when carrying stuff on the rack. And boy o boy does the Vette like to disappear gas
I have a 75 also and I agree. My concerns (in no particular order) are the straps scratching the paint, the rack damaging the interior covering under the T-top, falling off, my rack doesn't have the little "bumps" to align the brackets, AND it looks goofy.
For some reason the top metal piece won't fit the top circular part of the tube rack. But if I bring it lower it fits. Did you have to do modifications on the rubber piece?
It’s great stuff Where I can get one ?

So you’ve designed a v8 car and put zero thought into gassing it up? Another engineering marvel.
Thanks phor sharing the video! Where did you purchase the brackets?
Troy, Ecklers sells these. www.ecklerscorvette.com/corvette-luggage-rack-t-top-holder-bracket-set-1968-1977-25-154753-1.html
Did you really spell "for" like "phor"

@@troyledbetter6597 oh I see lol that's cool man
I got all these parts in a box when I bought the car had no idea what they were for. Great video
Did your mounts fit like absolute crap at first too? Mine are too tight where they clip onto the rack on the left of the mounts.

gas up before installation, your'e not driving that far in this car to have to worry about re-filling with them on
Does it scratch the paint?
What would you call those brackets.
brackets
I’m sorry but that looks ridiculous, having a 75 Corvette If anything I would store them inside with Storage bags

No I had no problems with mine. The racks were an option that were installed by the dealership. You may have a damaged tube.
