As a RE fan, I love this map. I rememorised everything on this map since I played the remake of the RE games. Even though gameplay sucks really bad like unsafe and safe pallets, windows that makes no sense and because it’s big as fuck, it’s still my favorite map.
it also wasn't made for DBD, it was made for RE period lol. you can't just copy paste a structure from a different style of game into what is essentially a randomly generated cat-and-mouse simulator and expect it to work fine. there are (or at least should be) specific rules and map design principles in dbd to keep maps fun and engaging to play but with the past few licensed maps they not only slightly bended those rules, but completely threw them out the window in favor of aesthetics and to stay true to the original material.
I agree I wish they would of token another place in the RE universe that's open and in the wild mabye like out side the police station or something it would of been better than whatever we have here

when i saw the trailer initially i thought we were just going to be getting a small part of raccoon city which would've been super cool. i think having an apocalyptic city based map would've been a much more obvious choice for the team than a map design that the community is always outwardly protesting against and managing to make it 10x worse in the process. even re fans that love the map aesthetically and know it like the back of their hands from the game can't figure out how to play on it and translate it to dead by daylight as a working and functioning map because it doesn't translate at all. i don't feel like i'm playing dead by daylight when i'm on this map and i know it has nothing to do with it just being a "new map" because i didn't have that issue with midwich
The issue with doing a city is that you'd need buildings. Then you get the issue of badham and haddonfield of it taking fucking ages to get to a specific gen, and then they just vault out of a window.
@@Antony-sb2uv they wouldn’t have to make the buildings fully functional like haddonfield and badham. they could make tall buildings where the most you can do is run through the bottom of it and keep it all one story if you can even go in it at all.
I got this map yesterday when I was going to play as Twins, and it's worse, you just can't change to Victor in mostly of the map because the game doesn't allow you to block corridors, and that's all this map is, so you gotta constantly find places where you can use your power. The number of problematic maps are getting high and that's terrible, ironic how they are all licensed maps...

Teammates going second or death hook just because it's impossible to navigate, killers proxy camping because they literally can't find out where they're going, being stuck at one gen because the gens blend into the map... should've been left disabled
Yeah same, couldn't find gens or get to the hook to save, Bubba was bodyblocking the doorway in front of the hook while camping our teammate to death, didn't see a single totem in the whole map and he had Ruin.
i actually camped a survivor too b/c i had no idea where i was going, and i was trying to find a survivor i could hear nearby, but no idea which direction they could have been in!
You can't just play it once and know how the map works. The first time you do anything new you'll probably fail. First time you played dbd you died or everyone escaped, you could've said this game is terrible I played it once and never again. You can't possibly expect to learn something by trying it once. This map is so easy to navigate, one of the easiest in the game everything is unique. No matter where you spawn you instantly know where you are because all the rooms are very different. All the rooms and hallways flow, and there's way more options to get from 1st floor to 2nd floor than the other 2 story maps. It's worth giving a chance
@@blackpope8834 yea regardless if you know where you are or not, that doesn't change the fact that it isn't a good map, they never seem to learn that indoor maps are usually bad, Larry's, the silent hill map, and Hawkins all suffer for one or both sides, usual killers struggle because the powers of most are not ideal for cramped spaces, while survivors can struggle due to not knowing where gens are. Both can also benefit, stealth killers are kings and queens on indoor maps and usually there's broken loops and God pallets everywhere on these maps. Big maps are also a problem and since this new map is an indoor and huge map, it is really really bad, if not for one side than the other and that is not ideal, it should be balanced for both
I played a few times on kill your friends to have an idea on the layout, and got my first true game on it as wraith, and figured I was in for a good time. Got absolutely slaughtered because I just couldn’t get to the gens in time, and because I wasn’t running bamboozle I got punished hard every time the survivors found a good window. Once they patch all the frame-drop issues I hope to play this map a bit more and try and find a way to make it... playable (even if its just finding the best 3 gen set up) but for now... yeah. Screw playing this map.
I'm guessing it was in their contract with Capcom that the map had to be an accurate representation. I don't see any other reason why they would do this, still sucks though.
Even if that is the case, BHVR needs to stand up for its playerbase and say "In context of DBD, we cant do a 1:1 recreation." There are several iconic areas in RE games and they allowed the worst one to be put in the game.
@@jinxxx9031 But that's hearsay, we don't honestly have a clue how precise these agreements are. it's so fucking painful, even as a survivor I hated the fucking shit. your teammates are almost guaranteed to reach stage 2 while you try to navigate the dogshit maze that is this map
I wouldn't say that when referring to this map, I think aesthically it is some of their best work even if it is awful gameplay wise. @@andreyu5640 it's so sad that you are so fucking true with that, we as a community need desperately a DBD Killer game, the amount of videos saying things like "DBD KILLER" "Possible Dbd killer?" and stuff just proofs of how much we want another game to play, or to as scott says pretty often, a game that forces behaviour to fucking do a good job for once
That's what I thought. Like, okay, the balance team isn't great, but they definitely have been trying to fix the maps over the past year, so I feel like it has to be a stipulation of the contract that the map has to be designed this way.
Ya this map aesthetically is incredible. I personally don't find it too confusing because I played a ton of RE2R, but its gameplay overall is horrendous. They should've just done a portion of the city or something instead.
I’ve played on this Map 12 times already and I am determined that I will never learn how this map layout works. At least with Lery’s and Hawkins every room is the same and is pretty “large”. But with Raccoon City it’s super fucking big, every room is different and small, and most of the time I’m looking at a wall. And also I have a hard time finding out how to go upstairs or downstairs.
feel you on the stairs part, when i was playing on this map the other day my teammate hit stage 2 on hook because i couldn’t figure out where the stairs were
I agree, but your point about every room being different actually helps the map in my opinion. On Lery's, it's almost impossible to tell where you are in relation to everything while on this map once you learn it there's no RNG in knowing where you are.
@@heroxarchive4491 for Lery as long as you know where the center is and you can find the office it gets easy to navigate. Hawkins is the same, you gotta know where is the stais and the portal room to navigate properly.

It literally is, this is the first map that I’ve had trouble finding generators as a killer, and the fire on the second floor outside always makes me think there is a survivor running away from me, but when I see the fire, I just want to get the feeling I want to tunnel, it also didn’t help that it’s an indoor map so survivor’s are gonna hate it, and I do appreciate indoor maps visually, I think they are really cool, but with gameplay this map sucks, I mean on the other indoor maps, you just have to run in a circle to find a generator, with this map, it’s an up down left right, through the loop just to get through a hallway, and with what you said about the windows is actually the first time I would say this but breakable walls there would actually solve that problem, even when the dc penalties are on, I still think I’m gonna dc on this map, because it really sucks that behavior thinks that quantity is more important than quality, and it sucks that there is a split community in dead by daylight where half of the community thinks that giving backlash to BHVR is the right idea, and the other half is actual people who care about the game and just want their voices to be heard, but for some reason BHVR reads the 1st option first which BHVR is starting to finally listen to the other half of the community which is definitely the right move, and it sucks that there is a bug in the system where bugs are created, the bugs are basically one of those cartoons people watched as a kid where if you cover one hole, another one opens.
Dc'ing because you personally don't like the map... You should stick to single player games. Other people want to experience this map and you're taking it on yourself to just straight up deny them from that. God I hate this community
@@boringmonkey6958 If someone doesn’t wanna play a game they have very right to D/C, there’s an offering that takes you to this map for a reason and it’s not even good, as stated in the video. You’re seriously trolling.
I actually love the idea of turning each floor into one map each. I feel bad for the devs on making this map because it is so cool aesthetically, but it awful to play on. I sympathize with them not wanting to just leave parts of the map out. However turning it into multiple maps would be a perfect solution to both sides of the problem. Makes the map smaller without having to just cut out parts of it. I really hope the devs do this.
They just have to split the map into a west side and an east side. After that they can focus on rebalancing some pallets and routes. Also open up a little bit more line of sight maybe with some holes in walls for projectiles and scratch marks.
It’s a shame really, I find it difficult to navigate myself yet I can’t help but amuse myself at seeing survivors trying to get around it themselves during a chase.
Maybe behavior should’ve picked a different place from the RE Universe and made it into a map. Maybe they should’ve made a small part of raccoon city a map instead of the police station.
Yeah, they could’ve still had Raccoon City Police Department, but just have it the main room and upstairs with 1-2 of the long offices as playable areas, then the outside street area. Maybe the preschool too. Still a medium sized map with two buildings, but a big open area in the middle.
These big licensed maps feel like you're playing trouble in terrorist town on like the bridge from star trek or something. The gameplay is compromised and you feel like you shouldn't be there - but at the same time, holy shit I'm on the bridge from star trek this is so cool!
Which is weird considering there are only 2 videogame licensed chapters so they just have to stick to a general design of a place, not copy a map directly like in RE and SH. Like nobody told them that Haddonfield has to be this way and Hawkins that way
@Raccaine Gaming It's been some time since I saw Stranger Things and obviously things like the inside out Portal are pretty much 1 to 1 but we didn't see the whole layout of the lab in the tv show you know? Yep. It's fucking huge, indoors, multiple floors, has a very confusing layout (and no, I shouldn't have to play RE2R, a completely different game to understand a DBD map. So that's not a valid excuse.) And tons of background noise/audio clutter. Not to mention tons of safe pallets and windows. Somehow they managed to top Midwitch.
@@kingReddy101 Agreed, some room doors are connected even though logically it’s not possible for them to connect. I can’t remember which room exactly, but one room that was on a completely different floor had an opening to another room which should have been below it. Confusing to all hell.
You forgot another thing:this map tanks frames. People have crashed from just loading into this map, and if i look towards the center of the map, my fps drops to 5-15
Because of how many fucking god damn walls and turns there are I guarantee the trapper could just place a trap down around a corner and trap someone consistently. This map is horrible.
Scott while I think it's super obvious as you said how bad this map is, I and I think many others think it would be interesting if you did a lil fun thing where in MS paint or whatever you want you designed your own map for what you think would be the closest to a fun and balanced map. Whether its balanced between the surv/killer thing or just balanced for all killers.
I hope they replace crows on indoor maps with bats that fly through hallways out until they get to open air like through windows at the edge of the map or into high-ceilinged areas like RPD's main hall. So a killer player can see a cloud of bats screeching down a hallway and flying out a hallway on RPD or Lery's and know "okay, if I go down this hallway I'll probably find a survivor in this general direction." Possibly also have survivors scream, revealing their exact location from across the map, if they get caught running into a big cloud of bats that were perhaps startled by another survivor 'upstream'. There could even be a mix of bats and crows, like sticking a couple crows in Badham Preschool's boiler room below the preschool that may fly upstairs and be seen flying away from the building by a killer who is outside, perhaps even flying out sooner and therefore giving quicker information to the killer if the breakable walls on either side are broken for bats to fly out from, opening some strategy to that. Bats wouldn't FIX RPD but they could make it more bearable when paired with some map knowledge and could give Calm Spirit some good reason to be used.
Going back to what you were saying about aesthetic, I wish they spent more time balancing and redesigning structures instead of adding a bunch of breakable walls. Not only is it confusing because there are some that you do and don’t want to break, but they’re also an annoyance mid chase or having to break them at the beginning of the game when you could be finding survivors.
The ironic thing about this map is that despite its size being massive, the gens still take years to be done whenever im killer since the survivors have such a hard time finding the remaining gens through all the tight hallways and individual rooms
god damn sometimes this map feels like a fuckin maze i have to go through this hallway then that hallway oops this hallway leads somewhere else uh oh a gen just popped guess i have to go the other way oh i hear someone repairing a gen right above me where are the stairs still cant find the stairs oops wrong hallway again oops too late the gen just popped…
I think Behavior should make the map more like the trailer they put out for the chapter. Make the entire map Racoon City, and have the main hall from the police station as the main building. This would allow them to have more creative freedom with the layout of the map and make changes that better fit the moment to moment gameplay of DBD (better line of sight, smaller map size, more direct access to where you want to go). Plus, there has never been an urban map for the game, the possibilities of having alleyways, streets cluttered with cars and other destruction for debris loops, small shops to hide in and loop around, really could have benefitted all of the killers' playstyles.
My biggest issue is that some rooms just don’t need to exist. There are literally just small near empty rooms with single doors that don’t connect in any way to create even a shortcut. Then you have to be careful not to run into certain areas since they don’t actually have access to others despite their size and open availability for shortcuts.
oh. another thing. When doing vaults as a killer or survivor (which was my friend in a kyf) we both realized that sometimes the walls break and the lighting fucks up. So trying to even enjoy the design is hard when shit breaks
I just played this map against a pp head and my god this map was like a a maze. I died 2 times to the killer not because he countered me but because I just ran into him.
I personally hate hawkins more than the rpd cuz going against ghostface or any stealth killer without spine chill is very painful and most of the pallets are very unsafe and its very annoying and its pretty much an instant win for the killer most of the time and i hate it. I know im not the best survivor btw.
RCPD is the one, ONE map in the game where breakable walls would have been an absolute blessing for adding new ways to navigate and it’s the one singular new map/map rework since the introduction of breakable walls that doesn’t have any walls of any kind.
Yea I was harking on this before, keeping these maps in their canon design looks cool, but the maps are balanced for a survival horror campaign game, not an asymmetrical horror game, they need to have some entity warping bullshit and make Midwich and RPD more playable
realizing that there is a survivor right above you, but the stair case to go up is on the other side of the wing is just pain. Just the fact I even have to think about "making the right turns" to get where im going is pain. This map is pain.
As someone who plays a LOT of Stealth and Psuedo Stealth (Low Terror Radius + other heartbeat manipulation) killers, I actually kinda like the map. Admittedly, I'm a huge RE fan, and I have only gotten the map a few times, and mostly when playing Nemesis.
I consider myself a pretty good billy, especially with using my chainsaw but I can’t use it for shit on this map, and even when I play survivor I hate this map, it’s so tight and just doesn’t feel fun to play on
BHVR had some cool ideas, like making the map a direct copy + paste from RE2, but that game was made for a Survival Horror solo player experience about managing limited resources and killing zombies, not a multiplayer cat and mouse chase game
i dont watch stuff about ptb, but i heard that this was coming. then when it was live, this map gave me physical pain for the first hour until it was disabled (thank god) then when the other day they put it back into rotation i already was mad because now there is always a chance i can get this map. i never seen something this BAD in terms of map design, even the game with 50 safe pallets is more pleasant to play that this fucking trash cancer map. im sorry for the RE fans that like this map because it is aesthetically good, but this is horrible. at this point you should be making a notepad with the worst things they have done so far this year and make a ranking at the end of the year (shitster, the game rework, rpd, hud, the hitboxes bug for survivors around february-march)
Earlier today, I killed 2 survivors on RPD and this caused the other 2 to do literally nothing. Never once did they do a generator, they didn’t do totems, and occasionally they kicked victor. I didn’t even care that one of them got the hatch, I was just glad that the match was finally over
Of course it is. They seemed dead set on making this the worst chapter release of all time. Why not make a shitty map to go with the worst patch ever released?
I'd argue the worst DLC was the twins chapter, unlike when the twins were first released, you can at least play Nemesis without something going wrong everytime. Well, minus the random lag spikes of course.
Playing as nurse here was absolutely embarrassing. You never have line of sight to begin your prediction blinks and each gen is like 3 single blinks away from eachother.
Couple things to add on how terrible it is. 1. Its randomly one of if not THE darkest map in the game. If you don't have reshaders or the like there are legitimate areas of the map what are damn near pitch black. Which only exacerbates the next point. 2. The totem spawns are some of the most disgusting killer sided ones I've seen. Totems can spawn under desks totally hidden from all angels besides small 30 degree areas that face walls (Otz has a trapper video on Lerys where his devour hope spawns, is never found, and he has arguably one of the easiest games I've ever seen), they can spawn in rooms with nothing but darkness meaning actually seeing dull totems in those rooms is awful without perks or making lit totems in these rooms a joke.
Did they re-add the map to public queue? I got it last night while playing with some friends, I felt really bad for that huntress. But the offerings still don't work, so I'm not sure if it was just a glitch in the system.
Re 3 OG biased fanboys be like : "At least nemesis in the RPD unlike in Re 3 remake." Did ever think for a second how much destruction Nemesis will do with a rocket launcher inside the RPD? 😂

The number of problematic maps are getting high and that's terrible, ironic how they are all licensed maps...
How dare a killer actually have synergy with a map and be able to use their power in an optimal way.

And then just have victor get kicked anyway and THEN have to walk even further to get to anybody because Charlotte doesn’t move when you’re playing victor.

Only played once on the map, never want to play on it again.

Let me say 2 things, 1 is that I struggled to find gens on that map and the ones I did find were in hot zones, 2 is that pyramid head can just put hot sauce everywhere and you're guaranteed a torment.

Bats wouldn't FIX RPD but they could make it more bearable when paired with some map knowledge and could give Calm Spirit some good reason to be used.
even the trailer in the livestream before the ptb was even released, i could see how bad this map was gonna be
Same
Going back to what you were saying about aesthetic, I wish they spent more time balancing and redesigning structures instead of adding a bunch of breakable walls. Not only is it confusing because there are some that you do and don’t want to break, but they’re also an annoyance mid chase or having to break them at the beginning of the game when you could be finding survivors.
We are going to have Suicidal billy going in this map with an offering
The map reminds me of my childhood when I was in gnome jail
My biggest issue is that some rooms just don’t need to exist. There are literally just small near empty rooms with single doors that don’t connect in any way to create even a shortcut.
Then you have to be careful not to run into certain areas since they don’t actually have access to others despite their size and open availability for shortcuts.
Yeah I played twins on this map couldn’t even get victor out this map is bugged
oh. another thing.
That idea of making multiple versions is great, the map could be split by landmarks like the important keys that unlock progress
I personally hate hawkins more than the rpd cuz going against ghostface or any stealth killer without spine chill is very painful and most of the pallets are very unsafe and its very annoying and its pretty much an instant win for the killer most of the time and i hate it. I know im not the best survivor btw.
For devotion prestige can we get a black blood prestige clothing item instead of red blood?
midwitch and RCPD fighting for that L
At least Midwich can be considered a dbd map.
Midwich ain’t that bad though lol
This map is pain.
most of the pallets are unsafe and i just don't understand why
They should split the map in 2, east and west wing. As a huge RE fan, I even was surprised they used basically the full RPD in 1 map.
100 percent agree! Anytime I load up on it i instantly dc
@@kingReddy101 This patch has almost made the game completely unplayable on all consoles. As bad as the Twins chapter was, at least it was playable.
Playing as nurse here was absolutely embarrassing. You never have line of sight to begin your prediction blinks and each gen is like 3 single blinks away from eachother.
Now I understand why whenever I get the map the killers always dc.
Plot twist: 50% of maps are "the worst map" in Dbd. All others are "bearable" at best.
Did they re-add the map to public queue? I got it last night while playing with some friends, I felt really bad for that huntress. But the offerings still don't work, so I'm not sure if it was just a glitch in the system.
I’ve played almost everyday this week and still have not played it. Blessing in disguise?
I've gotten lery's more than I'd ever like to admit :') I've been playing almost daily as well and have yet to get it
Was playing a game as Deathslinger and I couldn't hook an Elodie because there was no hook in the library or anywhere nearby
Re 3 OG biased fanboys be like : "At least nemesis in the RPD unlike in Re 3 remake."
Did ever think for a second how much destruction Nemesis will do with a rocket launcher inside the RPD? 😂
Pls let me destroy the whole RPD as Nemesis,I would like that instead of Alt+F4ing
