My husband and I plan to move to Florida after he retired but inland. I am trying to convince him to look at Georgia. We are now in NC but we want to be closer to Florida.

A question to you, dear commenters: What would be a perfect used car for Florida? I've heard that many cars end up unusable due to the floods and I'm going to buy a used car when I move there next year. A sedan would be ok?
As someone that has relatives down there im pleased that all that there is is just minor flooding. Granted theyve got 10 foot elevation on their home, but im sure the folks of Ft Myers wont mind minor flooding over the last hurricane that swept through there years back...
You can not tell the bay from the street. Everything below Orlando is technically the bay. If you live in that area, go outside and dig a trench around your house and you'll be on your own island

My ex from Pine Island, Florida sent pictures of his car with water up to the windows. Many were homeless due to complete loss of homes especially the manufactured homes. He had to be evacuated by boat because the bridges were washed away. That was Hurricane Ian from fall of 2022.
What a shame. My heart goes out to the residents… But I wish they would wake up and recognize that their governor, with his idiocy, self delusion and total lack of action is making their lives worse.
